JYP Entertainment has established a building office in New York to coordinate and work on their activities on the US. The building has a practice room and recording studio in order to practice and prepare there.
JYP Entertainment has been preparing for expansion to America since 2003 with the help of Woo Suk Lee, who is the vice president of the company. He said, "Until now, the game was just practice. Wonder Girls will begin authentic US debut this year."
For him the biggest barrier so far has been the language, that is why the girls have been taking language and acting classes and been living there to adapt to the lifestyle.
He revealed that the new Wonder girls’ album that will be released in March will have 6-7 new songs and that people like Rodney Jerkins and Claude Kelly, who are famous American musician/composer, will be involved in it. In addition, Wonder Girls EP album will be released by one of the three major record labels here in the US.
According to him the US market is saturated and that Asian music is just starting to grow, specially the Korean pop.
He finally commented that the use of YouTube is a way to have a connection to a wider audience, but that it just a part of many more things.

Date: 2011-01-17 09:57 pm (UTC)everyone knows Darkchild's legendary work, but Claude Kelly has written a lot of great stuff too (most notably Shattered Glass & Circus by Britney and Take it Off by Ke$ha)
I'm annoyed they're calling it an "EP" rather than an ALBUM... but 6-7 NEW songs sound good
and if it's honestly being released by one of the 'big three' (which should be big four...) then I'm guessing it's Sony BMG, Universal, EMI, or Warner? that would be freaking amazing publicity for the girls but there are still artists under those labels who have flopped :S
I just want the best for my girls /dramatic sobs
and I'm sick of JYPE jerking us around saying it will be released soon and then it never comes... so I hope they're living up to their promises now
