In a recent interview with Sports Today, F.CUZ’s Kan revealed his affections for Orange Caramel’s Raina.

Kan was asked whether he had any girl group members on his mind, to which he replied, “Recently, I’ve been noticing Raina a lot more. I’ve been a fan of After School, and lately, our promotion cycles have been overlapping so I see her often on music programs. I get a lot of encouragement from seeing Raina.”

He concluded with a shy laugh, “If I get the opportunity, I’d like to become friends with her.”

Shinhwa’s Eric subs in for Andy for “Teen Top” comeback

The friendship between the Shinhwa members has been headlining once again ever since Eric made a surprise cameo in Teen Top’s music video teasers.

Many were confused by his appearance at first, wondering whether Eric himself was making a comeback, but it was finally revealed that Eric had subbed in for Andy to support and promote the group’s comeback. (Teen Top was produced by Andy, but the Shinhwa member is currently serving in the army).

Even though he finished filming his segment, Eric had stayed behind afterwards to encourage and monitor the Teen Top members. His help definitely paid off, as his seconds-long appearance in the group’s teaser created enough buzz for the video to rank on major portal and video sharing sites.

Teen Top has currently released two of three teasers, and will be releasing their final teaser at 5 PM KST on January 10th. Their second single, “TRANSFORM,” will be released on the 13th.

For weeks, the ending to SBS’s hit drama, “Secret Garden“, has been headlining with controversies surrounding script leaks by different staff members. With the various conclusions at hand, the drama’s fandom has been thrown into chaos, as fans furiously debated over whether the drama would have a happy or sad ending, to the point where the drama’s homepage crashed and remained offline for hours on end.

In an effort to keep the drama’s plot under wraps, producers have announced a gag order on all of the staff members and have come up with a ‘007-like’ plan in delivering the scripts under tight security in order to prevent leakage.

One producer commented, “We’re glad to be able to give so much joy to everyone with ‘Secret Garden.’ Thank you to all of our viewers, and although we know that you are all curious, please watch on until the very end.”

The drama’s 18th episode jumped to over 30% in viewer ratings for the first time since its airing, confidently ranking first in broadcast ratings.

Many celebrities have also been swept with the “Secret Garden” obsession. BoA recently tweeted, “I want to duet with ‘Oska’ so I can see ‘Kim Ju Won’,” while Se7en wrote that he could finally sleep peacefully after seeing ‘Ju Won’ and ‘Ra-Im.’

Shinsadong Tiger, the composer behind B2ST and 4minute, even tweeted the writer of the drama and said, “Hello, Writer. I’m a person that makes music, and I’ll let you hear a song that I’ve never released before if you give me a hint about the spoiler.. I can’t wait a full week (cry cry).”

Hilariously, actress Kim So Hyun pranked netizens by announcing on her Twitter that she had the final script for the drama in her hands, and uploaded a picture with a script that had the words, “Thank you for watching ‘Secret Garden’ (this is how it ends!)’”

G.NA and Wheesung to release their duet track on January 11th

G.NA and Wheesung have partnered up to collaborate for the track "I'm Meeting You For The First Time", which was also produced by Wheesung. The song will first be revealed online and will then be included in G.NA's upcoming full-album.

The duet track is a song that expresses the feelings between a couple when they first meet each other on a blind date. It also refers to the attraction they feel towards each other, like they have been pulled together by destiny.

The track is said to highlight G.NA's delicate yet attractive voice and Wheesung's smooth and colorful voice.

"I'm Meeting You For The First Time" will be revealed on online sites such as Melon and Bugs on January 11th. G.NA's first full-length album is rumored to be released on January 18th. Are you looking forward to this duet and her album?

For the episode that aired on January 9th, “1 Night 2 Days” featured its second ‘foreigner special’. But viewers who watched the episode are criticizing the show for making the members drink burning hot coffee as a punishment.

During dinnertime, the members played a game where they had to complete four missions in three minutes. Failure to do so resulted in drinking a cup of scalding-hot coffee in just one go. Viewers could not bear watching such a painful thing; Lee Seung Gi and Kim Jong Min seemed to be in deep pain, which they expressed by stomping their feet to endure the hot liquid.

Additionally, the show added subtitles like, “Tongue is burning and their hearts are burning too,” “Tingling feeling,” “Painfully hot coffee,” and “You try it.” These little comments annoyed viewers and encouraged them to complain and share their feelings on the show’s online bulletin.

One viewer pointed out, “If you drink hot coffee that fast, you can not only burn yourself but damage your throat and esophagus. I can’t believe the show made singers play such a stupid game.” Another person said, “Did Lee Seung Gi drink twice because he’s the youngest? I got even angrier when Kang Ho Dong and Lee Soo Geun urged them to drink faster.”

The concern shared by everyone was expressed through, “I was so worried while watching it because I thought someone was going to get hurt.”

A very angry netizen wrote, “Are you out of your minds? How can you make singers, who survive on their throats, play such a game? I knew something like this was going to happen soon enough. The makers of this show are worrying me. What were you going to do if they burned themselves? The repertoire is the same, but this show is becoming more sadistic.”

In the past, “1 Night 2 Days” has been criticized for playing games that were just a bit too much, such as a thigh-pinching game and more.

Drinking hot drinks really is painful so I actually see where the netizens are coming from.

IU feels proud in working with Park Jin Young

 
Despite being eliminated from JYP Entertainment auditions in the past, singer IU has expressed that she enjoys working with Park Jin Young for “Dream High“.

Through an interview with MBC’s “Section TV” on January 9th, IU expressed, “Recording for the ‘Dream High‘ OST with Mr. Park Jin Young made me feel somewhat proud.”

IU continued, “At the time of my JYP audition, I was still lacking in my singing abilities, and lacked everything overall. We recently recorded for an OST, and being able to work with a teacher that I auditioned with made me feel proud.”

When asked who treated her the best on set, she replied, “2PM’s Wooyoung treats me well.”

Among the Korean celebrities that I have been following with interest lately are the three members from Dong Bang Shin Ki who have since formed the group JYJ. Although they are undergoing difficulties now, their current situation when examined through the eyes of the law is piquing my interest and leaving an impression. Even if they, with their handsome faces and flashy dance moves combined with their stellar vocals, never find out.
What drew my attention the most was how these young and weak men were fighting against the organised strength of the Korean entertainment industry. Bringing up the issue of “slave contracts”, they filed a lawsuit against SM Entertainment, the company that raised them, and the minute they started activities independent of that company their promotions were blocked here and there as if those doing the blocking were lurking in waiting for them. (The legal implications and meaning of those restrictions will be dealt with in further detail later)
It’s clear that SM is smarting from the incredible loss they’ve incurred through the separation of Dong Bang Shin Ki, and, claiming to avenge the honour they lost through [JYJ’s] ungratefulness, they are also at the same time sending a message to their up-and-coming idols, “if you do the same thing [as JYJ], you’re dead.” SM might as well stand for Small Mind.

American K-pop fans are shocked at this discovery. The popular U.S. clothing store Hot Topic is selling illegal copies of K-pop music on their website. This is not the first time that illegal copies have been found online. Back in October, Koreaboo ran an article concerning fraudulent sales of songs on iTunes. This problem has also been found on America's biggest online retailer, Amazon.

2NE1, Big Bang, SHINee, 2PM, BoA, and among others. From what can be seen, the albums found on the Hot Topic website are very similar to the fraudulent music found on both iTunes and Amazon.

At 1PM on 10 January, in Rehearsal Room 1 of the Seoul Namsan Arts Center, a rehearsal scene for the musical "Tears of Heaven" was revealed. On this day, Junsu (real name Kim Junsu), Brad Little, Lee Haeri, Yoon Kongjoo, Jung Sangyoon and Jung Dongsuk were present at the rehearsal, brightening up the place.

TVXQ has officially kicked off their comeback activities for variety programs!

Fans have been buzzing about the duo’s reported recording for SBS‘s “Running Man” on January 10th. But it was was recently revealed that they’ll be making an appearance on SBS’s “Chocolate” as well.

TVXQ will be filming for their segment on January 12th, and will be showing off their talented vocals by singing three or four songs.

The group is currently scheduled to release the ’special edition’ of their “Keep Your Head Down” album on the 12th as well.

South Korea to launch Internet broadcasts aimed for NK listeners

The government will launch Internet-based “unification broadcasts” this year, as part of efforts to inform the public about North Korea and to raise awareness of future unification.

According to the Unification Ministry, the new station will broadcast live radio shows and visual content, which will be created by experts recruited by the ministry.

The Internet station was mentioned as part of the ministry’s New Year plan made public earlier this month.

According to the plan, the government will also host town-hall meetings throughout the country; open up a cyber library for adolescents; and begin to accumulate public opinion regarding unification.

The ministry projects the broadcast will officially begin in the second half of this year, with a long-term goal to expand it to include a cable television broadcast.

When I was on my way back home from watching Kyuhyun's debut stage as the clumsy country bumpkin D'Artagnan in The Three Musketeers, I thought of Camomile's song The kid I'm Looking for. Kyuhyun, the thirteenth member of Super Junior is currently working as a musical actor. The innocent young man Kyuhyun is living happily as D'Artagnan and has fallen in love with charms of musical curtain calls. Kyuhyun who says he's "now somewhat used to the highly technical ad libs from the sunbaes" started the interview with his feeling about his musical debut claiming, "for the first four performances, I was getting angry with myself."

2AM Jo Kwon’s statement in MBC comedy show “First Time In My Life” caught people’s attention.

According to the production team, in a segment called “Confess Your Sin”, Jung Hyung Doon asked, “You and Ga In suit each other perfectly in ‘We Got Married’. Do you have any intention to date for real?” Jo Kwon then answered back with a question, “We are really dating. Don’t you guys know?”

The other 2AM members confirmed it, saying, “Jo Kwon and Ga In are dating.”
