SM Entertainment wraps up SONE meetup in Los Angeles

With a packed house of 300 people, the first ever meet-up sponsored by SM Entertainment took place on January 8th at CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles. Hundreds of SONE's, both local and out-of-state, came out to be apart of this event.

The event attracted such interest that although the particular theater sat 300, admission "tickets" ran out by 2:30 and hundreds had to be turned away due to limited space.



Once everyone was inside at around 2:40, the big screen lit up SMTOWN artists music videos, including SHINee's "Lucifer", TRAX's "Oh My Goddess", Super Junior's "Bonamana", BoA's "Copy and Paste" and others. The two MC's, Shermy and Cami, then came out to greet the crowd showcasing some of the dedication and support of SONE's around the world.

The MC's then announced a dance battle would take place for some prizes, the song, not surprisingly, was SNSD's mega-hit, "Gee". In a funny twist, 9 people participated in the contest, including 2 girls who donned outfits similar to the naval-look SNSD sported for "Tell Me Your Wish (Genie)". The contestants all showed a lot of spirit and skill while dancing, and after a series of eliminations based on crowd responses, the sole guy to participate in the contest walked away with the #1 prize.



With the dance battle finished, the MC's did a few trivia challenges with the audience for prizes, and then introduced the video package SM Entertainment prepared for the event. The gift bag contained one of the surprises for the night: a blank sheet of pink paper that with instructions to write a letter to the girls on. The video package was culled from various sources, including behind-the-scenes footage from the "Hoot" MV, unreleased footage of the fan-meet and clips culled from the SNSD First Photobook in Japan DVD, all subtitled by SM Entertainment. Lastly, the MV's for "Oh!", "Run Devil Run", and "Hoot" were played to a roaring response.

When the videos ended, it was time to collect the letters the fans had written, which was done in the humorous manner of turning them into paper airplanes and "flying" them to the front of the stage. When that was finished, it was time for a last few trivia questions. Every SONE in the room gathered together for a final mass group shot, and the meet-up ended.

I took 3 trains to get there which really sucked but it was all good...

When we arrived, we saw lots of ppl walking away holding pink posters so I stopped and asked if it was over... they told me it was too full~ ;_; We ended up going around the whole block looking for the entrance and then ended up by the parking entrance so I jacked a poster because I didn't come all the way there for nothing~ xDD Finally, we found the entrance to the plaza and went upstairs. I asked these girls if they knew what was gonna happen and they said they were told to wait until it was over? x_X I decided to wait until 5 and just ordered coffee, watched the ppl dancing and ended up dancing off to the side... When it ended, I asked this lady what was in the goody bag so she showed me the items then she gave me her Hoot balloon afterwards<3
