Music Bank Special and Comeback Stages

For KBS Music Bank tonight, we have special stages like the comeback stage of Lee Jung Hyun, Super Junior with ‘It’s You’; plus I The Tri Tops and Yuri SangJa are back.

In addition to that, Super Junior won the #1 position on K Chart this week with ‘It’s You’. It is super impressive since they won #1 on the chart with the song just 1 week into promoting it.

This makes it their 5th consecutive #1 on the show.

It has been reported that Ha Jung Woo went to travel in Scotland and learned about whiskey. His agency said that Ha Jung Woo wanted to taste the finest scotch brand, “Windsor”, while they were visiting Scotland as a part of the project for GQ magazine.

Ha Jung Woo visited the Royal Lochnagar Distillery, in Scottsdale’s high region land. This place have such a deep history and have received a certificate from the royal family, presented by Queen Victoria.

SHINee Onew front teeth injury, “I’m recovering quickly”

SHINee’s leader Onew is said to be recovering quickly from his teeth injury after falling down from the stairs in their quarters just 2 days before the group’s comeback stage on 19th May. It was said that his injury will take 1-2 weeks for full recovery.

SM Entertainment said on the 22nd, “Ever since his injury, Onew has at the hospital. He is recovering faster than expected, the other members are also feeling relieved about that.”

SM said, “Right now he has not recoved fully, we will have his condition checked beginning of next week, and then decide on their comeback stage day again.”

Meanwhile, the offline release date of their minialbum has been postponed from 21st to 25th May.

Issue over same-name singers AJ goes into 2nd round of dispute

There has been previously disputes about new singer AJ (Lee Ji Kwang, 19) having the same name of Paran member AJ (Kim Jae Seob, 18).

Even though AJ’s company has come up to clarify that the meaning to AJ’s name is different from that of Paran AJ’s name.

AJ’s company came out to talk again on 22nd, “Our AJ’s name is short for ‘Ace Junior’. We have already discussed this over with Paran’s company, but Paran’s fans have not stopped talking about the issue, furthermore, the AJ is so common not only in Korea but also overseas. You can’t possibly have that one name to yourself.”

Paran’s company then spoke up, “We are very disturbed by some of the netizens’ exaggerated postings online about this issue. The name is just an expression and has no bad intentions to it. We have already talked about this matter with AJ’s company and had agreed to the 2 singers having the same name. AJ’s just a newcomer who just debuted, and needs our help.”

“Rumours of us saying that ‘Paran AJ debuted 4 years earlier’ can really be hurting. And it is not true that our fan club uploaded composite photos of AJ online. To say the truth, if it was a much more popular singer, it would not have been so difficult.”

Instead of actually going down to Yoochun's new TimeOut Gelato store to try to catch a glimpse of him or his family, some English-speaking fangirl decided to be super creative and just call them. And, oh, yeah, just kinda sorta secretly record the whole conversation. And put it online.

Instead of Yoochun, though, the fangirl managed to have a short, extremely awkward conversation with Ricky (aka Yoohwan, aka Yoochun's bro).

2PM’s Dance Break on Music Bank

Earlier today, the boys of popular idol group 2PM showed their ultimate bboy and acrobatic side while performing their hit song "Again & Again" on Music Bank. The performance started off as it normally did, but later turned into an extravagant dance performance. The dance break was only about half a minute, but it had the crowd squealing with pleasure. It was a shame that the boys didn't win first after their dazzling performance, but there's always next time!

Is hallyu, or Korean Wave, waning or still booming? There has been lots of talk about the sustainability of hallyu among industry insiders as the overseas success of some of Korea's TV dramas and movies seemed to have declined in recent years.

Freelance writer Mark James Russell, however, dismisses the term, hallyu. He once jokingly called it "Zombie Wave" for these worriers, arguing that there never was a Korean Wave in the first place, so it couldn't really be said to be dying or anything.

Then, what is the Korean Wave? Korean pop culture crosses many media, demographics and regions and it means very different things to different people.

Bae Yong Joon gives best face award to Jaejoong

Hi, first post here :) I hope it's okay, lulz. Just found this interesting.

Even though I believe TVXQ's Jaejoong is in fact a robot, I can't say that I'm surprised.

When offered the "Best Face in Asia and South Korea" award, Bae Yong Joon declined it and instead offered it to Jaejoong claiming that Jaejoong has the best face in Asia. According to Bae Yong Joon the best face "should always look handsome whenever you look at them, always look cute, always look pretty, to be chic and always look good." Yeah... I don't know about you, but that seems like all the same damn thing to me.

Other contenders for the award were members from Super Junior, SS501, Shinhwa, 2pm and SHINee, but out of all of those, Jaejoong was selected.

Honey Lee performs fusion jazz

The talented Honey Lee — Seoul National University grad, classical music major, 2006 Miss Korea, 2007 Miss Universe 3rd runner-up — is taking her much-lauded skills at the gayageum (classical stringed Korean instrument) and using them for a fusion jazz performance.

She’ll take the stage on May 27 and 28 as part of the “Yoon Hee-jung and Friends Concert” in Seoul, singing and playing her gayageum. She explained, “I’ve always liked jazz. I was also a Yoon Hee-jung fan, and it happened that I received the call about this. I’ve always wanted to try mixing the gayageum with jazz music — this is such a great opportunity.”

Honey Lee is currently in her last semester of graduate studies in classical Korean music. Now, if only she’d put out a fusion album! That would be pretty fantastic.

After the song "Call Me," Tae Goon appeared in the music industry like a beautiful comet. It feels refreshing to see an active new solo male singer in the "era where girl groups flourish." But aside from Tae Goon, AJ and Chung Lim have also debuted and Tae Goon only has kind words for them.

When asked about AJ he explains, "When I see AJ perform, even though he's younger than me, I can still learn a lot from him." And Chung Lim, "We share the same practice room, so we see each other a lot. Both him and AJ are really amazing people."

In the end he adds "But my eyes are smaller and I have longer arms."

The Wonder Girls have Chinese SISTERS

Yes in no less than two years after their debut, it is the second coming of Wonder Girls. Apparently, JYP China has been working over time prepping the Chinese version of the Wonder Girls, named “Sisters”, for their official debut. The group was introduced by JYP’s ballad quartet 2AM while they were doing promotions for their recent release “A Friend’s Confession” in China. In these newly uploaded videos, the girls perform Wonder Girls’ “Nobody (Rainstone Remix)” and do a special “hip hop” dance to “Booty Bangs” by Jessi Malay. Surprisingly, their voices are pretty good, of course we are still talking about idol standards of good, but good nonetheless. The dancing in both videos was smooth but at the same time, pretty emotionless. But hey, maybe they have first time jitters, I'll cut them some slack for that.

Ex-SKorean president dies after fall

SEOUL, South Korea – Former South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun has died after a fall while mountain climbing, a news report said Saturday.

Yonhap news agency quoted police as saying that Roh died after falling down a mountain while hiking with an aide. Police could not immediately confirm the report.

Roh suffered severe head injuries and died after being transported from his hometown of Gimhae to a hospital in the southern city of Busan, the report said.

Police were trying to confirm whether the fall was an accident or if he possibly committed suicide, it said.

Roh has been under investigation in a bribery scandal over allegations that he took more than $6 million from a businessman while in office. He served as South Korea's president from 2003 to 2008.

Singer Tae Jin-Ah (56 years old), challenges the Trot hallyu and is going to debut in Japan’s music industry with a new Trot single in mid-June.

When questioned about his late entrance into the music industry at the age of 56, Tae Jin-Ah says “Speaking of debuting at this age in a foreign market, everyone will persuade me to stop, but having new challenges enable me to discover more about myself.” He also mentioned “The hoobae that I like Dong Bang Shin Ki has debuted successfully in Japan, I wish to be like them too, being active and succeed in the Trot music industry”.
