gaon releases their end of the year charts for 2015!
gaon has (finally) released their official end of the year charts for 2015. i decided to just compile the main digital chart (along with the album / physical) chart below because it'd take a loooot of space up to add in the digital, download and streaming charts. if you're interested in the exact number of download / streaming numbers a certain song received just click on the sourced pages below and it should take you directly to what you're looking for! the only other chart released for the year was the background music chart so there's that if you're interested! it's very text heavy behind the cut! (and if there's any mistakes or awkward coding just mention it and i'll try to edit, lmao. the same goes with anyone that i may have missed tagging!).

when you remove the western artists from the overall chart (so, when you're checking the domestic chart instead of that one) most of the korean acts have moved up at least one spot on the chart. the removal also opens a handful of spots for songs that hadn't made the charts otherwise. five spots on the download chart and six on the streaming. those songs were:
★ download: high4 / iu's "not spring, love or cherry blossoms", lim kim / yoo jae hwan's "coffee", ga in's "apple (feat. jay park)", kim yeon woo's "the more i love" and bts' "i need u".
★ streaming: 4minute's "crazy", sg wannabe's "love you", jyp / yoo jae suk's "i'm so sexy", jay park's "mommae (feat. ugly duck)", bastarz's "zero for conduct" and 15&'s "love is madness (feat. kanto)".
observations
★ as per usual, girl groups dominate over boy groups on all of the charts! though i won't list them all off, some groups that had more than one entry on the charts include: a pink, aoa, exid, g-friend, girls' generation, and red velvet who all had two entries a piece.

observations
★ when looking at the domestic, and not overall, chart, four additional albums crept their way into the chart: the korean ver. of exo's miracles in december, infinite's concert album: one great step returns - live, boa's kiss my lips, and g-friend's flower bud.
★ exo has the most entries on the chart with twelve. this includes both "old" and "new" releases. following them is: bts with six (both old and new), big bang with four and got7 with three. besides this there's multiple artists to have two entries on the chart, including: ikon, seventeen, shinee (four if you count jonghyun's solo releases), super junior (six if you count solos / subunits), ect.
★ a pink, girls' generation, lovelyz and red velvet are tied for the girls groups with the most entries on the chart with two a piece each.
★ the only idol subunits to make the chart are bastarz, infinite-h and vixx-lr.
★ taeyeon has the highest charting position for both a female soloist and soloist in general. yonghwa has the highest for a male. jonghyun and xia junsu have the most entries on the chart for a soloist with two a piece.
★ seventeen is the highest selling rookie artist of the year, breaking 175k in sales, followed by ikon and monsta x. twice is the highest selling female rookie of the year, followed by lovelyz.
★ bts is the only non-sm artist to break 200k in sales on the chart this year. cho yong pil was the last non-sm artist to do so in 2013 with 250k sold. (the only other artists to do this in general since the start of the gaon chart in 2010 are: big bang, g-dragon and jyj.)
★ with just over 478k in sales for the korean ver. of exodus, exo is now has the highest selling physical album in gaon history. ★ when looking at the domestic, and not overall, chart, four additional albums crept their way into the chart: the korean ver. of exo's miracles in december, infinite's concert album: one great step returns - live, boa's kiss my lips, and g-friend's flower bud.
★ exo has the most entries on the chart with twelve. this includes both "old" and "new" releases. following them is: bts with six (both old and new), big bang with four and got7 with three. besides this there's multiple artists to have two entries on the chart, including: ikon, seventeen, shinee (four if you count jonghyun's solo releases), super junior (six if you count solos / subunits), ect.
★ a pink, girls' generation, lovelyz and red velvet are tied for the girls groups with the most entries on the chart with two a piece each.
★ the only idol subunits to make the chart are bastarz, infinite-h and vixx-lr.
★ taeyeon has the highest charting position for both a female soloist and soloist in general. yonghwa has the highest for a male. jonghyun and xia junsu have the most entries on the chart for a soloist with two a piece.
★ seventeen is the highest selling rookie artist of the year, breaking 175k in sales, followed by ikon and monsta x. twice is the highest selling female rookie of the year, followed by lovelyz.
★ bts is the only non-sm artist to break 200k in sales on the chart this year. cho yong pil was the last non-sm artist to do so in 2013 with 250k sold. (the only other artists to do this in general since the start of the gaon chart in 2010 are: big bang, g-dragon and jyj.)
★ with just over 478k in sales for the korean ver. of exodus, exo is now has the highest selling physical album in gaon history.
