My first reaction was "Congrats GOT7" but then I was like WTF MC Mong is all over the chart??? WOW...

1) He's male.
2) Korea says they don't forgive, but anyone with a fanbase will make it threw the worst (i.e. all of YGE, SME boy groups, EVERY TOP SOLOIST).
3) I feel like after all the trolling, there are actually people who are like: "damn, I should have thought of that. Good for you, the army isn't a place anyone should go to..."

I see a few of my faves are killing in that TOP 30, some albums made another comeback.. However I'd like to personally mention that I am SO happy MBLAQ's Winter was at least in the TOP 20 with the quietest release from an idol group ever.

well, I'm glad GOT7 at least slayed physically. They released the top 10 domestic physical sales for boy groups and even with it being their rookie year they ranked on it with 160k albums sold, just in Korea. Counting their album sales from Japan as well that is about 200k in total for their first year. so proud~~

I don't know why, but I expected WINNER to be selling better physically. I know YGE is a digital company, but really? 65k for the of the most hyped debuts since EXO, and here I was thinking GOT7 was doing bad.

I don't know...it's been 4 months but I think Winner did okay. The fact is that they did only a few fansigns domestically. They made their money touring in Japan. I think when you consider how expensive their album was it sold really well physically and did awesome digatelly. More importantly I bought mine at the Lotte pop up store and the focus was not on the albums but on the just as expensive merchandise.

No debut compares to EXO lol. YG released photos,from the photobook shoot, for a few weeks...not really much compared to 23 teaser videos and 4 music videos

Actually WINNER's debut was a level up from EXO's, but most people didn't notice.

I don't know much about them, and still haven't heard any of their music. But my limited knowledge tells me:
1. their leader/lead vocalist is a Super Star K finalist (this on his own makes him very relevant to the general public), and had about 3 years of solo jobs (acting, music, etc)
2. they had at least 2 shows pre-debut
3. they released at least a mini album worth of songs pre-debut
4. at least 2 members were "relevant" trainees (I think 1 was an underground rapper or an ex-Block B member)
5. the were "media played" for at least 2 years before actually debuting
6. the toured a lot before debut

They had a lot more than EXO did, so I expected them to sell at least 100k (especially since it was a full album instead of a mini). But sales probably balance out when you account for digital sales. Plus they probably have more cfs than EXO did back n 2012. I'm just surprised that groups like BTS can get almost 100k, while WINNER sold less than f(x).

1. That was 4 years ago
2. This is true but both ended months before debut
3.They released two songs a year prior to debut after the WIN finale
4. One trainee was supposed to be in Block B but they're not exactly superstars lol
5. It's not media play if they are actually doing things lol
6. They toured a lot in Japan...hence having a Zepp tour there at debut

All those events spread out over years do not add up to the 5 month EXO media blitz lol

I paid over $30 in Korea for my Winner album so it being twice the price of normal albums and selling that well is of note
