Quick because I forgot today was Friday. This week went by so fast for me! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, let’s see who was on the charts for the 2nd week of January, 2012. OP doesn’t remember much from this week, 2012 was such an off year for me lol.

#3 Wonder Girls “The DJ Is Mine”

I keep forgetting about this song lol. This song was for their The Wonder Girls movie (which I also forgot about), and is also all in English. The song would later be included in their Wonder Party album, released later in the summer.

Some people say that 2009 was the golden year of K-Pop. Can you believe that this was already 10 years ago? Get ready for a trip down memory lane cause all these songs are turning a decade old this year!

G.O and Choi Ye Seul may be getting married soon. G.O said, “We want to have a small wedding sometime next year. It is true that we are meeting with marriage in mind. I have a lot of shortcomings, so I want to lean on her. I think we’re very compatible, which is why I want to get married. Rather than having a fancy wedding, I want to use that money go on a big family trip abroad.”

However, the couple surprised everyone when they said they don’t kiss. G.O explained, “We talked about it when we first met, and Ye Seul says she doesn’t like kissing, and that if the other person’s breath smells, it ruins the mood.”

How they met, how much G.O. earns as BJ (a lot), how Ye Seul is a V-fangirl, etc. )

Happy Friday! I am annoyed because I have a blind pimple on the bridge of my nose and I’ve got plans this weekend. Anywhos, every week I go through the charts on this day and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, let’s check out the top songs for the 5th week of June, 2013. Ladies dominate the top three, so I let the boys have the honorable mentions lol.

#3 Ivy featuring Yubin “I Dance”
This song was the first (and only?) collaboration with JYP for Ivy, who was a former JYPE trainee before her debut. I don’t think most of these outfits in the MV fit her properly, some of them seem too big for her. I like the second half of the song the most, when everything picks up. The song also features Yubin, and she looks amazing.

On October 15, Seungho took to his Instagram to share a photo with his fellow members Mir and G.O.
He wrote, “There is my enlistment and birthday, but!!! Today is MBLAQ’s 8th anniversary!!!!!! Thank you always, A+.”

October 15 marks MBLAQ’s 8th anniversary since their debut in 2009. In addition, Seungho is enlisting in the military on October 16, which also happens to be his birthday. G.O and Mir are currently serving as public service workers, so Seungho will be the last member to begin his mandatory service.

As his enlistment date of October 16 rapidly approaches, MBLAQ’s Seungho took to Instagram to share his thoughts on going to the army.
On October 14, Seungho posted a picture of his buzzcut and a goodbye message to his fans on his personal Instagram account.

The message read, “After meeting with my fans, my preparation for the army is complete! I will come home safely. Gangwon Inje 12th Division!”

Previously, the artist’s entertainment agency, Will Entertainment, released a press statement regarding his enlistment.
The statement read, “Hello, this is Will Entertainment. We would like to announce the news of our actor Seungho’s enlistment in the military. Seungho fulfilled his military obligation by enlisting in the army for October 16.

“Seungho has been admitted into boot camp in the Gangwon Province instead of the Nonsan training center. There he is scheduled to complete his basic training and then move on to fulfill his 21-month military service.

“As Seungho has expressed that he would like to enter the army quietly after spending time with his family, there will be no farewell activities on the day of his departure.
“We would like to thank the fans who are always supportive of Seungho and wish for continued support so that he can safely complete his military duties.”

We wish you the best, Seungho!

Every week I check out this Friday in a past chart and post the top three songs. Then I always pick out two more from the top ten and share those as honorable mentions. Today, let’s see who was on top for the 4th week of July, 2011. Ladies dominate the top three spots, so I threw the boys a bone with honorable mentions lol.

#3 2NE1 “Hate You”
The song is a bop! I like this video, and my most favorite thing about it is that Bom’s eating corn in it lol #CornQueen. I hope she got to eat some yummy sweet corn this summer.

You. Betta. W E R K.

Omona, are you vogue enthusiasts? Do you pound the pavement like it’s a runway, flip your hair, spin, and then death drop like your life depends on it? I do. I'm THE one who does THAT. Not really. But I think about a lot, though.

For those of you who don't know, Voguing is a type of house dance that grew out of Harlem's ballroom scene in the 1960s by Black (& Latino) drag queens. There are three types: Old Way, New Way, and Vogue Fem, which has been the current style. The film Paris Is Burning is a great documentary on ball culture and it'll introduce you to the Godfather of Vogue, Willi Ninja (RIP). A great follow-up to this is the documentary Kiki which explores current trends in the ballroom.

For quick reference, here's a short video of Dashaun Evisu (House of Evisu) with Danielle Ninja Polanco (House of Ninja, Dancer/Choreographer for Omarion, BeyTWINSé, Amerie, Step Up 2, Lip Sync Battle, etc.. Put all the RESPEK on her name), Eric Sanchez and Carlos Ninja Irizarry doing Pre-Emerald City vogue from The Wiz Live (which is also a great example of what the ballroom scene is like).

Without further ado, I've come across a list of songs that are House music/runway inspired which is the style you'll hear a lot of songs in the ballroom come from. Now, there is a lot of SM artists present, not due to bias, though. I assume since View did well as a title track, SM continued using the sound with more of their artists. This is standard for SM when experimenting with sounds, though. YG is actually the first company I'VE heard the sound come from, but I'm probably wrong. I'm no Kpop music style expert.

Disclaimers:
I noticed some moves from 70s dancing were incorporated into Voguing as well, so I've added a track or two which pull sounds from that era.
I know this isn't going to be considered a playlist by most since there's more than one song by on artist, so we'll call it a collection.
I don't listen to every Kpop artist, so yes, I might have forgotten songs.
Don't press me about lyric meanings, because I don't know them. This is based purely on sound.
Nu'est was apart of the original playlist when I first started working on this, but I will remove the song upon request.

Let's go, Darlings! - Media Heavy )

Thoughts, Omona? Songs you'd add? Complaints (keep them)? Corrections? Relieved none of these YT names are ChokeMeSeKaiSoo?

Much excitement was raised when G-Dragon announced his upcoming solo concert Act III: M.O.T.T.E. (Moment of Truth, The End) ahead of his final comeback before enlistment. The excitement only heightened when it was revealed that besides stops in Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia, tour dates for the US, Canada, and Australia were also included, making this upcoming world tour the first time G-Dragon will tour these countries sans his group members. European fans were left disappointed, however, with no forthcoming dates listed anywhere in Europe and the UK, making this the latest in a long line of highly anticipated world tours where Europe was skipped as a touring destination.

Their complaints are frequent and quite vocal but in spite of this, why do K-pop concert tours skip Europe so frequently?
