Lmao it's my first time watching one of these, it was A LOT of BTS and Black Pink closely followed by Twice. I really wonder how it would look like without the dedicated fan streaming parties and bots but oh well
PSY still going strong with youtube views lol
The first half had a few MVs that called back my memories though, it was nice 😊

Yea idk why Twice isn’t in this thumbnail when for the groups known for streaming videos it’s Blackpink, BTS, and then Twice

My guess is personal bias from the person making the video? Based on the views/how many songs of one artist show up in this list, only Black Pink and BTS make sense, unlike the other three. Should be Black Pink, BTS, Twice and PSY, then idk who else as fifth?
But I'm not mad about it, they've done all this editing work, they can pick who they want on the thumbnail lol

Oh definitely, it’s their personal choice and nothing wrong with that. but tbh I feel like a lot of international fans still have their issues with Twice because of their cute concept, so they get left out a lot even though they achieved so much. Like TT back in the day was one of the first current Kpop songs that started hitting big numbers without a viral global hit like Gangnam Style.

I really would’ve liked Psy to be on there too, like he literally had the biggest hit that started it all! Or even Girls Generation as Gee was one of the first Kpop group songs to get a lot of views!

History repeats itself I guess, international fans were quick to dismiss SNSD for their cute concepts back in the day (I felt into this trap the first year I got into kpop and look at me now lmao).
TT was really huge (and still is a very good song), it's really unfair and dumb to cast Twice's success with their cute songs aside. They're so big, they're the Nation's GG of this generation, no matter what other fandoms say!

I decided to watch it through!

A few Got7 songs, and Just right being up there!

I do love that Psy is no 1 and that it got there without fans inflating the viewing figures. There should be a commemorative day if/when it drops from number 1

I guess BP fans are more dedicated than BTS fans? I actually thought BTS would rank higher.

It also made me realise, I really only know Namjoon in BTS, I have not learned who is who for the rest. But that is also the same for all other boygroups aside from Got7. Even Exo, I can only identify three of them.

I'm surprised dudududu is higher than playing with fire is it because it's a shorter song and faster to stream 🤔

And seeing Jennie's solo just brings back all the lies they told about everyone getting a solo.

I will not lie

....I really would love youtube to make it where when you view it, it counts is one time. You watch it all you want, but they recognize it’s you so they only count you once. I think that would effectively kill all this obsession with streaming videos. You can see which songs were really popular due to the new views being counted by each new person who watches vs who watches is 100+ times by playing it in the background

Now this doesn’t benefit YouTube at all and they’re greedy as fuck, so it’ll never happen. Plus companies would probably put less effort into their music videos. But I’ll dream lol. But yea when I was younger I thought these milestones were so cool, but knowing all the shenanigans going on like renting Internet cafes to stream....yea this shit is fucking stupid. I wish it didn’t have so much weight for music shows too.

But I will say Psy’s Gangnam Style will always be the most impressive since that one was really a massive hit where everyone and their grandma was tuning in. GS success seems more genuine over all the others. Another would be Boom Boom by Momoland, it hit over 400 million. Now the poor girls are lucky to get 50 million for their videos (which is still an hell of an accomplishment, but wow none of their songs come close to Boom Boom)

They really need to add a count of how many people (or at least accounts? different IP addresses?) listened to this song once, I think they have the technology to do it but of course killing the viewing parties isn't in their interest

The only issue with that would be they would make a different account so it would count. I see someone else wrote maybe Ip Addresses that maybe help but I am not sure if your home uses one IP address or each device. If each device then they will just make different accounts for different devices and still you will not have an accurate account.
