Korean celebrities participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for ALS

In case you were wondering why your faves suddenly started taking part in this old internet thing again, it's still for a good cause!

Back in May, member of Korean duo Jinusean, Sean, has re-started the Ice Bucket Challenge as the foundation he and former basketball player Park Seung Il founded, which now hopes to begin building the first hospital for ALS rehabilitation in South Korea. On May 29, Sean and Park Seung Il, who suffers from ALS, posted a video taken on the grounds for the new hospital in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province as Sean does the Ice Bucket Challenge and encourages people to continue. He then tags actors Park Bo Gum, Daniel Henney and SNSD member Sooyoung. Since then, a lot of idols and celebrities have went on to dunk a bucket of ice cold water on themselves and donate in support of the foundation.

i personally feel that this challenge is worded wrongly? i mean, they said either to do the challenge or donate to the ALS research and most people do the challenge instead so it seemed to appear that they rather get cold wet rather than donate? or did they said they will do both? then it defeats the purpose of the challenge in the first place? idk

if i remember correctly, only GD refused to do the challenge and opt to donate instead. is he the only one who understood the meaning behind this ALS challenge?

afaik stars like iu, b1a4 members and daniel kang did both, they posted videos doing this challenge plus pics of their donation ... i guess doing a video is to give visibility to the fact they didnt refused

you're supposed to do both. you donate money and then do the water portion to raise awareness of the cause and to tag/call out others to also do it.

if anyone's just pouring water on themselves and not donating they look like real assholes.

seems like this challenge has picked up a bit more with k-entertainment than the previous one, and am always here for charitable stuff. it's nice that the donations are mentioned, for I might not have known that most are donating too.

if I'm not wrong, Yugyeom (https://www.instagram.com/p/Bjri5SPgCu2/?hl=en&taken-by=yu_gyeom) from Got7 has also donated to the foundation after being tagged, but he's not doing the icebucket challenge.
