Seohyun

Seohyun’s mother was actually a surprise guest on a TV show that Girls’ Generation was filming, and she was able to hide her identity in front of the group and her daughter. The group becomes emotional as they explain that they have banned the word mom from their vocabulary because they miss their mothers too much. After a short conversation the identity of Seohyun’s mother is unveiled and her mom gives her something she had been saving for her wedding day!

Jin

Hearing that his parents had come to the concert, Jin spotted them with the help of the fans and the rest of BTS. He proceeds to talk about his mother’s patient and understanding disposition in this great clip!

This video would make any ARMY proud, as Jin thanks them for giving his parents a reason to be proud of him.

Jackson

Famous among the K-pop industry for being a gentleman, it is no surprise that Jackson loves his mom. On numerous occasions Jackson has mentioned his mother, and how much he misses her since he came from Hong Kong to Korea. His appearance in the second season of “Roommate” was no exception, and he talked about her often. During a Christmas party, all of the celebrities invited their parents over, and Jackson continued to be positive and upbeat. However, Park Jin Young had a surprise present for Jackson!

Zelo

The maknae of B.A.P read a letter to his parents during a concert the group held in Seoul. Emotional and touching, Zelo’s letter told about his training days and how his parents supported his dream to pursue music. He apologizes to his mother for some misunderstandings and thanks her for all of her efforts as he fights back tears.

Myungsoo

During the filming of reality series “Birth Of A Family,” L’s mom came to INFINITE’s dorm and had a meal with the members. She not only brought baby pictures with her, but she also wrote a letter for Myung Soo. She wishes the best to the group and shares some very heartwarming words with her son.

The love L has for his mother is very apparent as he becomes overwhelmed.

Bobby

Leaving his family behind in the United States, Bobby became a trainee to become a rapper at YG Entertainment. He mentions his mother a lot, just like Jackson, and he always speaks highly of her. During the filming of “WIN: Who Is Next,” a reality program where two teams battled for the chance to debut as artists, he gave his family a video call that is filled with sentiment.

Bobby truly becomes an example of how people should love their mothers once again in the final performance of Team B on “WIN: Who Is Next.” He takes to the stage and begins “Climax” with his solo rap that he composed about his mother. He promises her a house and desperately calls out to her in this moving performance that even brought tears to Yang Hyun Suk’s eyes.

Bobby also appeared on the rap competition TV show, “Show Me The Money 3,” where he eventually took home the grand prize. His winning speech consisted of him telling his mom to pack her bags, because he was going to buy her a house in Korea with the prize money. Near the end of last year his parents finally moved to Korea, and Bobby was able to begin the next part of his dream as iKON debuted.

Bobby sure knows how to melt hearts!

BTOB

During the filming of “B+Diary” BTOB was given a special surprise for the holidays when their moms recorded video messages for them. With some tears and a good amount of laughs, the boys received the advice and encouragement from their moms as they applauded between each clip.

Hello, this is DR MUSIC.

We will state the few issues that have been discussed about our company recently.

[the only important bits are bolded. everything else is filler 🙄]

Regarding the hiring of the back-up dancers during April for the Gwangmyeong cave program, the TV broadcasting team asked us to introduce a back-up dancer for a VR shoot so we hired a dance team that we had signed a contract with. The two members who left the dance group posted on our fan café and Facebook page that they have not received their payment, because they did not understand that it takes time to process the payment and it is given after the program airs on TV.

After the incident, we had a direct phone conversation and we solved the issue with a dance team leader who was familiar about the situation on the TV appearance fee, so we want to tell you that our company has no relation with the issues the dance team is having amongst themselves.

The rumors that are going around that say that our company is not able to release an album because we lack the funds is a pity and we feel that is very unfair to our company.

Our company is reputable and has produced more than 30 albums over the 28 years. But because our company is an independent medium sized business and we do not receive any investment, the truth of the matter is that we have issues with our funding, which is a pity.

But we invested a large amount of funds, spent 3 billion Korean Won on discovering the group (Rania) members, training them and to produce Rania’s 6 albums for you guys who love Rania. Unfortunately we have not received the adequate amount of love and struggling with finance. However, we think that this is something that our company has to deal with.

The tracks, Make me ah, Anyone, Killer that were supposed to be released on April 8th are already done with the recording and the choreography. It is not because we have lack of funding that we are not able to make a comeback. The process for the above is all paid for and we are ready to make a comeback at any given time.

We would like to clear the air and explain about the rumors clearly that are going around about the members but since we are at the process of getting advice from the company’s lawyer; we cannot uncover everything about the truth at this stage, we hope you will understand.

Di, T-ae and Xia have not finished with their contracts with our company, which means that the three are still currently our company’s singers.

Our company, during the 28 years of business signing contracts with so many artists; have never had a single artist leaving the company by violating the contract.

Sometimes, unexpected issues come up when you’re in the entertainment business.

Regarding this, we will inform you later on because this is a chance for us to correct anything that is wrong. So we wish you would keep with us.

The members are currently spending sleepless nights to produce a hip hop album due to be released.

We wish you would show a lot of support to the members who are working very hard.

disclaimer: I know the person behind A1st Central has done very shitty things towards the group and the fandom in the past and made false accusations, so I'm not posting any of the other allegations, but you can read them on Facebook here. I personally believe the allegation about the dancers not getting paid (she pasted their angry comments in a fancafe post) but yeah, take with a pinch of salt anyway!

the VR shoot referenced in the statement is this video (watch on mobile). about the contracts, are they trying to imply that Di, T-ae and Xia are trying to violate their contracts?? (if so, I hope they manage to get out successfully)

about the members, the rumour is that Di, T-ae and Xia (the last of the original 2011 lineup) have left the group. for people who aren't keeping up with Rania, it's been really apparent that something's been brewing for at least a month now. Di, T-ae and Xia all stopped posting on SNS in late March (they returned to Korea from Thailand on 21 March - things still seemed okay in Thailand). new members/maknae line (Alex, Seulji, Hyeme) have been posting regularly, especially Alex/Seulji and their practice room photos. Alex has been posting snaps in the practice room/with their manager Johnny.

not sure of timeline on the following: Di, T-ae and Xia all locked their Instagram accounts and Di and T-ae locked their Twitter accounts. T-ae deleted all photos from Demonstrate era (though she's been known to mass-delete SNS posts before). most damningly, Di unfollowed the three new members (Alex, Seulji, Hyeme) on Twitter and Instagram... Alex isn't following Di on Instagram anymore too, but she did tweet a pic of Di and a video of the group recently.

I don't know what else to do say about this except hahahahahahahahaahaahahaha... I just saw them 50 days ago and things imploded so quickly?? I'm really sad about the original members but I hope they do what's best for themselves regardless of what that means for the group...they deserve better than what they've gotten from Dr Music in the last five years. idk how they're going to recover from this situation tbh..

Hundreds of fans filled the Enercare centre on Friday May 6th for the inaugural Hallyu North k-pop convention. With popular k-pop group SHINee headlining the show, it was difficult to see where the show could go wrong. Fans were in for a shocking surprise as the evening went on, as they saw how bad things would become.

Many fans were able to overlook the limited selection in merchandise and goods, knowing that actual stores hosting these tables are limited to begin with. As well, the food festival that ended up being just two food trucks was a shame, but was easy to look past because there was also a hot dog cart and everyone was able to get food and drinks. After all, the main event was the SHINee concert taking place that evening.

Organization began to become a problem as people were unsure of where to line up. Eventually, lines were formed outside and began to file in at around 7, when the concert was scheduled to begin. Fans filled the different sections with excitement, the teaser video playing on repeat. Finally, the lights dimmed and Shimmycocopuffs came on stage, the MC for the event.

Shimmycocopuffs was an interesting choice for an MC, because his focus isn’t really k-pop culture and he only had limited knowledge of SHINee. He did well though because the fans were supportive and he knew enough about k-pop that he could introduce the group.

When SHINee came on, the fans went absolutely insane. The first song that they performed was “Sherlock”, which really got the fans’ energy up. Once the song was sung, Shimmy and a translator came on stage while SHINee introduced themselves. Key impressed everyone with his fantastic English, and the others did really well with the self introductions as well. It seemed that there was the intention of doing a question period, but the translator did a really poor job of translating, summing up what was clearly more than a sentence from Jonghyun to just a few words. The translator later seemed to disappear, and Key took over as the translator, which left the group in a really awkward situation. They performed “Everybody”, “Beautiful” and “View” which was fantastic.

And then they left the stage.

Shimmy came back on the stage and said we might be able to get SHINee to come back out if we cheered. It’s hard to tell if this was part of he script, or if the guys did actually need convincing. The crowd cheered and chanted encore over and over again until SHINee came back out onto the stage to perform their next song, “Replay”. The performance was great, and the audience was cheering and singing along. And then SHINee said goodbye and left the stage.

And this time there was no encore. Just announcements that the show was over.

The fans milled out of the venue in a daze. Did the much anticipated concert really only last under 30 minutes? Did it really go without the questions or the fan interaction that was promised?
The air afterwards buzzed with disappointment.

It really wasn’t until after the Chicago showcase, which was over 2 hours and involved six songs plus games and questions, that the salt was really rubbed into the wound that the concert was a complete failure.

Day two of the convention ran with little incident, but the damage was done. Few people wanted to return for the rest of the convention after the disappointment. By the end of Sunday, the the group “Hallyu North Refund” made it onto the CBC news, bringing mainstream media into the mix and making the issue public. Many fans feel that, since the show was only half the length that was promised, people should be given half their money back. Whether this happens is still yet to be seen, but we recommend those who came out from the concert upset to join the Facebook group.

We know that SHINee are not to blame in this situation. They put their full energy into the entire event, and it could be seen and heard in every song. The question remains though – what happened? We’ll be waiting to hear from Hallyu North to see if they release any statements, explaining the evening.

Video of Sherlock + Beautiful from the show:

OP's Note:I drove 6 hours from Montreal for this and I was definitly disappointed. The whole thing was a disorganised confused mess. SHINee were amazing and I felt terrible for them throughout the whole concert. A lot of people are filing Paypal dispute over this because Hallyu North are not answering any requests for comments are still pretending everything's fine. If anyone went and want to share their horrible experiences. Feel free to do so in the comments.

“Inkigayo” Responds To Rumors That I.O.I Was Deliberately Excluded From Early Voting

On May 10, an issue arose over I.O.I’s possible exclusion from early voting on the music site MelOn and its corresponding music program “Inkigayo.”

The early voting list for May 22 includes classic songs such as Sechs Kies’ “Couple” and Busker Busker’s “Cherry Blossom Ending” as well as Crush’s new single “woo ah.” However, “woo ah” was released a day after I.O.I’s “Dream Girl.”

Excluding an artist from early voting can affect an artist’s “Inkigayo” rankings, since rankings are based on album sales (55 percent), social media (35 percent), digital sales (5 percent), and early voting (5 percent).

I.O.I has so far been unable to appear on any of the public broadcasting music programs. However, this was not expected to affect early voting or rankings, as 10cm’s “What the Spring??” was also included on “Inkigayo” despite a lack of promotions.

A music industry representative said, “Even if it’s a small one, you have to give them the opportunity. It doesn’t make sense to eliminate them completely. They may have come from Mnet, but the nation still chose them. There are a lot of people who want to see them performing on stage.”

An SBS representative responded, “The announcement of totals on the online audience board is last year’s. Every week, the No. 1 place is decided through the system. The system totals up various weights using music chart rankings as reference.”

They added, “I.O.I’s song has not been released long enough to gather data. Early voting is only available for songs that were within the Top 60 in the past week.”

When asked whether I.O.I would ever appear on “Inkigayo,” they stated, “There have been no internally mandated restrictions. We will have to see.”

I.O.I was a girl group formed through the survival program “Produce 101” on Mnet, a cable channel. They made their debut with the album “Chrysalis” on May 4 and will promote for a little less than a year before returning to their respective agencies.
