this was/is emotional for every queen. its such an important day for them and im so glad they got to survive that stupid scandal. oh my god got me in tears and the constant sobbing from jiyeon and soyeon didnt help. you can see how much the fans mean to them esp in roly poly when they cry when they hear the fanchant. <3

The SeeYa Mark 2nd Anniversary with New Single “Song of Love”

R&B group The SeeYa will be returning after a one-year hiatus on December 29.

The new single will mark the group’s second anniversary after their debut in 2012. The four-member girl group consisting of members Song Min Kyung, Heo Yong Joo, Sung Yoo Jin, and Oh Yeon Kyung is expected to showcase their strong but emotional vocals.

“Running Man” Gary Asked Song Ji Hyo to Date Him for One Month

Song Ji Hyo revealed that there have been talks about taking her and Gary‘s relationship to the next level.

On the December 28 episode of SBS’ “Running Man,” the members wrapped up the year by reminiscing some of the most memorable moments of 2014.

Yoo Jae Suk said, “This year, Kwangsoo has been in the center of scandals,” referring to the dating rumors surrounding Lee Kwangsoo and actress Wang Ji Hye.

Song Ji Hyo was asked to share what 2014 means to her, but before she could even open her mouth, Gary responded to the question on her behalf. He said, “Me?” and evoked laughter with his comment.

Turned out that his answer was not meaningless. Song Ji Hyo went on to reveal, “Gary had a serious talk with me. He said that we should be a couple for one month for the show.”

Hearing this, the members encouraged the two to turn thoughts into action, saying, “That doesn’t sound bad,” and “That’s just the beginning.”

Uber CEO Travis Kalanick Indicted in South Korea

On Wednesday, prosecutors in South Korea charged Kalanick and the head of the company’s South Korean car-rental partner, MK Korea, in connection with licensing laws that forbid rental car companies from operating taxi services, the South Korean news agency Yonhap said on Wednesday. The charges carry a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a fine of roughly $18,000. The indictment is thought to be the first time that Kalanick has actually been charged with such a violation, the New York Times reports. And according to Bloomberg, people who “provide information on Uber’s services” starting next week could get rewarded with up to 1 million won, or $905.

Seoul made clear that it would be taking a hard line on the ride service. Back in July, the city declared Uber illegal under South Korean law and said it would seek to ban the company. Paid transportation with unregistered vehicles is “clearly illegal activity,” South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Local officials added that by December they would roll out their own app to provide most functions of Uber for official taxis (though that doesn't seem to have happened yet).

Uber, which according to its website operates in 53 countries, started its service in Seoul in 2013. It competes with local taxi-hailing apps such as NaviCall, run by a unit of the nation’s largest mobile phone carrier SK Telecom Co., which connects users with registered taxis.

In the meantime, Uber, in fine Uber fashion, plans to continue operating in South Korea despite the charges. (It took a similar approach in Germany, and was rewarded when a nationwide ban lasted all of two weeks.) The company said in a statement that it “respects the Korean legal system and will provide its full cooperation,” but added it “firmly believe[s]” its service is “not only legal in Korea” but also is being “welcomed and supported by customers.”

Se7en Officially Discharged from the Military, Thanks Fans and Apologizes for Past Controversy

On the morning of December 28, singer Se7en was finally released from the army, 10 days after his originally scheduled discharge date. Following his 21-month military service at Pocheon’s 8th Infantry Division located in Gyeonggi Province, the singer greeted his fans and the media at his discharge ceremony on this day.

Se7en’s return to civilian life has received much attention due to a controversy surrounding celebrity soldiers in which he was involved, three months after enlisting. Today’s discharge ceremony was the very first time that the singer stood before reporters in a public setting following the scandal in June of 2013.

In front of the reporters and fans, Se7en started by saying, “Hello, this is sergeant Choi Dong Wook. Thank you for coming despite the cold weather.”

The singer then expressed, “I want to thank all of the fans who believed in me and supported me until the end in the midst of such a difficult situation.” He also shared his thankful heart toward his family and friends.

He continued, “I’m sorry for causing disappointment during my military service and I am reflecting over my wrongdoings. I served in the 8th division for a year and a half. After facing a big obstacle, it wasn’t always easy. I am able to be discharged in a healthy condition thanks to the unit executive officers who believed in me until the end. I am thankful to everyone and I will work hard and live diligently day by day from now on. I apologize for having been discharged following a shameful incident. These are all things I will have to carry with me in the future,” bowing his head in apology.

“Misaeng” Parody Drama to Air in January

A parody drama of tvN‘s “Misaeng” will be airing in January.

“Microorganism,” (“Misaengmool” in Korean) will be a New Year special drama that will parody the cable channel’s currently-airing hit drama. Jang Soo Won, who formerly gained attention for his “robot acting,” will portray protagonist Jang Geu Rae’s character. Hwang Hyun Hee has been cast for the Manger Oh character, while Ahn Young Yi will be played by Jang Do Yeon. Other various characters will also be portrayed by comedians.

The protagonist of this parody drama will be thrown into the corporate world after a failed attempt at being an idol. Producer Baek Seung Ryong, known for directing “Surplus Princess” and “SNL Korea,” will be directing this two-episode parody series.

The first episode of “Microorganism” will air on January 2.
