Cube Entertainment will take action against rumors about HyunA having Hyun Seung’s baby

Cube Entertainment will not be going easy on the people who started and spread rumors about 4Minute‘s HyunA being pregnant with BEAST‘s Jang Hyun Seung’s baby.

On January 10, a deceiving article that looked like an official statement by Cube was shared through a smart phone application. The article said that Trouble Maker members HyunA and Jang Hyun Seung had an inappropriate relationship and that HyunA was pregnant because of it. These rumors began to spread through other social networking platforms.

Cube Entertainment released an official statement about these malicious rumors. “We will take tough legal actions against the netizens who started and spread these malicious rumors. The legal team is currently collecting data in preparation to take legal action as quickly as possible. Because these rumors are so hurtful, we had to do something about it.”

Rain Nominated in Five Categories in 2014 World Music Awards

Singer Rain has been nominated in five different categories out of nine in the 2014 World Music Awards.

The nominees for the international awards show were recently revealed, and living up to his title of a world star, Rain made the list in five categories: World’s Best Song with “30SEXY,” World’s Best Video, World’s Best Male Artist, World’s Best Live Act, and World’s Best Entertainer.

The sexy star made his comeback after a four-year hiatus with his sixth studio album on January 1, and has already recorded his first music show win. In addition, he has been cast in the upcoming Hollywood movie “The Prince,” which is currently in the filming stages.

World Music Awards has been held annually since 1989, and it is broadcast to 160 countries all around the world. Other K-pop artists nominated this year include PSY (World’s Best Live Act, World’s Best Song, World’s Best Male Artist, World’s Best Video with “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman“), SHINee (World’s Best Album, World’s Best Entertainer, World’s Best Live Act), 2NE1 (World’s Best Live Act, World’s Best Group), G-Dragon (World’s Best Entertainer, World’s Best Male Artist), and Trouble Maker (World’s Best Song and World’s Best Music Video), with many other popular acts nominated in one or two categories.

At 42-years-old, Kwon Yool (Lee Beom Soo) is South Korea's youngest prime minister ever. On top of his reputation of being an honest man of the utmost integrity, he's also a widower who raises his three children alone. But what the public doesn't know is that despite his perfect image, Prime Minister Kwon is actually a struggling father devoid of even the most basic of parenting skills. Nam Da Jung (Yoona) is a journalist who resorts to writing trashy tabloids to support her ailing father, but when she chases Prime Minister Kwon for a lucrative exposé, she ends up scooping a whole lot more than she bargained for.

Episode 8:

Da Jung and Kwon Yool start to develop feelings for each other, but other factors prevent them from telling one another.

Episode 9:
When Reporter Byun catches wind of a potential relationship between Da Jung and Director Kang, he allies with Minister Park and tries to catch them in the act.

VIXX, "Vampire idol? Now we want to be the trend."

VIXX, who were one of the most successful idols last year, relayed their thoughts on ending promotions.

VIXX’s leader N recently met with reporters before going on stage at KBS Music Bank and said, “Although we were busy, last year 2013 was a time that we could take leisurely.”

Last January VIXX started off with “On and On” raising their awareness with earnest, and succeeded in forming a big fandom with ‘hyde’, ‘G.R.8.U’, and ‘Voodoo Doll’. In particular, ‘Voodoo Doll’ gave them their first #1 on a national music program after debut, as they proved their status as the idol trend. VIXX repaid the love they received from their fans by promoting follow up song ‘Thank You for My Love’ for two weeks.

As album promotions end this week, VIXX will take a period of time to redevelop themselves and plan to make a comeback within the first half of this year.



Regarding this, N explained, “It’s the truth that releasing several songs and busily working was personally tiring. However if I think about it, we got a lot out from it. Firstly, we could hold a 1st place trophy, and we also gained a lot more fans. The fact that I could release a bit of my burdens was the best part of it. I couldn’t express it while we were preparing last year, but I secretly worried that ‘If we can’t get #1 this time, VIXX or the people who helped VIXX might get really tired.’ But we were able to finish off with great results and shake off that burden.”

When asked, “Don’t you have more burdens if your album can’t get you #1?” N replied, “I think that will be a new challenge. ‘Voodoo Doll’ became a driving force for us to work harder and do better for 2014, therefore we can embrace that burden and start brightly.”

VIXX who kept their promise after debuting in 2012 to buy chicken for their fans if they won #1 have established a new goal. It’s for VIXX to become the trend of the music industry. N said, “After we achieved our 1st place goal, the members gathered and said, ‘Let’s become the trend’, creating a new mission for us. For example, if VIXX has been called ‘vampire idol’, ‘kids who wear lenses’, ‘fantasy concept idols’, now we want to be fixed in detail as ‘VIXX who wears lenses’, ‘the clothes that VIXX wears’.”

Although VIXX achieved great results with their successful promotions last year, they still regrettably live without cell phones. The phones that they turned in to their agency during debut had not been returned to them yet, and the six all share the team phone that N manages. N revealed, “I’m not sure if we can get our phones back our not. Once we finish up our activities well, I think I’ll have to ask them again.”

As of this year, all the members of VIXX are now adults. Maknae Hyuk turned 20 and is awaiting to start university, and N and Leo turned 25 this year, entering their mid-20s. Regarding this, N expressed, “Recently people around me told me, ‘You look like you have no energy. Is something wrong?’ They’re worried for me but I’m doing fine. Instead as time passes I think I’ve become more calm. I’m also the leader so I feel that I’ve become more careful about everything than before.”

"I’m thankful to my members for helping me so much. I think VIXX can do even better in the future," N revealed his aspirations and asked for more support and anticipation. After successfully completing domestic promotions, VIXX will meet fans around the world with their global showcase "Milky Way’ encore concerts and are currently preparing in earnest for Japanese promotions.

American writer Kate DiCamillo’s “The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane” recently sold over 30,000 copies.

The book was first published in 2009, and was quickly forgotten without receiving much interest. However, it’s as if the book has sprouted wings; it’s selling like crazy. This is because of its appearance in the currently very hot SBS drama, “Man From the Stars.”

Rain's Video Criticized for Racist Elements

A video from singer Rain’s new album, “Rain Effect,” is drawing criticism for what some call a racially-insensitive caricature of black women.

Bloggers and observers took exception to the video for “L.A. Song,” the album’s second single, which depicts a black woman whose chest and buttocks enlarge significantly after being kissed by the singer.

“The suggestion…is that his kiss activates this hyperbolic sexuality of the woman,” said K-pop-focused website Seoulbeats in a post. “Combined with the predatory gaze he shoots her way prior to this makes this scene more than uncomfortable.”

The video, part of Rain’s return from a four-month hiatus, was the latest K-pop product to be hit for racial insensitivity. Comedians, pop singers and other celebrities have made racist gestures in recent years, including those that feature blackface.

A representative of Cube Entertainment, which released the album last week, was not immediately available for comment.

Cyworld’s Global Ambitions Are Over

Cyworld, once Korea's largest social networking service, decided to end its global service on Feb. 10 after failing to compete against global SNS sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Collapsing after less than three years, Cyworld plans to maintain its Korean service, but it is currently reviewing an employee buyout plan and is parting from SK Communications, which acquired it 2003.

According to the IT industry, SK Communications has already notified Cyworld users that it will terminate the service and has posted a notice on its home page.

Cyworld went international in November 2011 with the hope of benefiting from the Hallyu, or Korean Wave, of cultural exports. It provided lots of content regarding Korean music groups and actors and interviews with celebrities as part of its marketing strategy. It offered its services in seven languages.

The number of its subscribers peaked at 35 million.

But premature expansion outside of Korea, a slowness to move onto mobile platforms like smartphones and tablets, and a security breach in which the personal information of its 35 million users were hacked helped bring Cyworld down.
