4minute fought and beat both Lee Hyori and 2PM for the first place spot on May 19th's Inkigayo, with 'What's Your Name?' coming out on top.

The day, the first place candidates were 2PM, Lee Hyori and 4minute, but 4minute rose above. When the results were announced on screen by MC IU, 4minute looked surprised and wondered if there had been a mistake.

Member Jeon Jiyoon represented the group, thanking their company's president, stylist team, family and of course their fanclub.

Children of elite families become entertainers amid fading Confucian values

Top entertainers are currently being treated as “national heroes.” President Park Geun-hye recently touted Psy’s rise in the global arena as a model case to explain her economic growth policies centered on creativity.

Yet it was only two or so decades ago when regardless of their popularity they were treated like “clowns” and called “ttan-tta-ra,” a Korean term poking fun at entertainers.

Such a sentiment stemmed from the now faltering Confucianism which perceived jobs entertaining people as indecent. The philosophy imported from China killed the dream of many children who wished to grow up as musicians, dancers or actors. There are some entertainers who pursued their dream despite family opposition, but most of them kept their family background a secret.

This has changed entirely in recent years with the steep rise of entertainers in terms of social influence and profitability. Perhaps no family feels ashamed of having an entertainer as a member; rather it might be a great source of pride with huge potential to bolster their profile.

The trend has even galvanized the country’s rich and powerful, who normally react passively to social change of any sort.

Reflecting the shift is an increasing number of entertainers born with a silver spoon in their mouth. They are never hesitant to speak about their family and some use it to promote themselves.

Hold your jaws, ladies. I’m still picking mine up off the floor after feasting on these shots of Go Soo. The following scenes from Empire of Gold were shot with Yoon Seung Ah at an Incheon market and coffee bar last May 14th. Yoon plays his younger sister on the show.
Empire of Gold, which will have its first broadcast in July, is Go’s first drama in four years.

Monstar drama is CJ E&M’s first music drama and a collaborative effort of tvN and Mnet.



Plot:
"Monstar" depicts the lives of ordinary teens who are injured psychologically and heal themselves through the power of music.
Yoon Sul Chan (Yong Joon Hyung) is vocalist of fictional band called Men in Black. His past have made him, cold, cynical and hot temper that get him in many troubles. Therefore, he was sent to new high school where he has to behave or else. He will join the high school band and help his fellow students achieve their dream. Yoon Sul Chan will be a pair with Min Se Yi (Ha Yun Soo), a high school student who moved to Korea from New Zealand and though she isn′t interested in school or her studies, she feels happy whenever she sings. She will join the band with Yoon Sul Chan and gets involved in the incidents scattered throughout the story.
