Monstar drama is CJ E&M’s first music drama and a collaborative effort of tvN and Mnet.



Plot:
"Monstar" depicts the lives of ordinary teens who are injured psychologically and heal themselves through the power of music.
Yoon Sul Chan (Yong Joon Hyung) is vocalist of fictional band called Men in Black. His past have made him, cold, cynical and hot temper that get him in many troubles. Therefore, he was sent to new high school where he has to behave or else. He will join the high school band and help his fellow students achieve their dream. Yoon Sul Chan will be a pair with Min Se Yi (Ha Yun Soo), a high school student who moved to Korea from New Zealand and though she isn′t interested in school or her studies, she feels happy whenever she sings. She will join the band with Yoon Sul Chan and gets involved in the incidents scattered throughout the story.

I just finished the 1st episode a few minutes ago and I really liked it!! I'm so glad I like it tbh because I've been waiting a while for this and didn't want to be disappointed xD

I re watched the last scene with the main girl and the 'radio' guy singing together like a million times, I thought that was such a sweet scene ~ (not the bit where the classmates were laughing at him, I actually felt like crying for him D:)

Also the main girl is so cool imo, I love how she herd sheep in New Zealand for 5 years lmao but I think she has a great character! I can't wait for more :D

God, that piano playing bully is such an ass, I can't stand him, that scene was hreatbreaking :( But hit 'em high notes, Ha Yun Soo! I loved that 'Don't be sad' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUlJWPOOS8I) song sequence, wow, it was my fave.

She's so 4d i can't XD I can't believe Krystal was the first choice tbh

God that scene was hard-hitting to me, and Sul Chan being like 'i was sexually assaulted!'. Damn.

Yeah, I can't wait to see what else they come up with :D TvN dramas have been so on top of the game lately so I'd like to see what comes out of this :D Especially since it's mnet's first drama aswell!

Ikr, I'm so glad that Min Se Yi stood up against that bully! I really hope his attitude improves through out the drama. Ah the Don't Be Sad song was really good too, I'm looking forward to see the other songs that will be covered or other original songs from the drama :D

Yeah, I heard Krystal was being considered for this and was rather surprised but now she's apparently thinking of taking a role in Heirs!

That scene made me think more tbh about how idols must view their fans sometimes and just get tired of them at times :/ When the fan kissed him, I was just like 'o_________o wat r u doin', I felt really bad for him in that scene :( And then the CEO wanted him to go to the hospital and apologize even though she was the one who kissed him and pretended to get hit by the car ¬¬

Well, he's supposed to be antagonistic ass, since his band will stand against Sulchan's... eh.

I always thought being idol generally sucks since you live off your fans... and the ones that contribute the most to funding your meals are like that psycho who pretended to be hit by Sulchan's manager car.

The first episode started off well! I felt like many issues were tackled all at once...You know with idols having to deal with sasaeng fans, being lonely and sexually assaulted and also bullying within the school and the effects it have on the ones who are being bullied. There were moments when I became emotional for the characters. Especially the one they called "Radio".

To me it's like Flower Boy Band mixed with Dream High and School 2013 [minus the bromance)..

I really liked the main girl [thank-god she didn't come off annoying] and I'm interested in what they will do with her character next.

Junhyung did okay, for it being his first role. Maybe I need to watch more episodes to get a grasp on his acting.

Yes yes yes! I really need more campus dramas in kdrama where everyone seems to want to grow up so quickly with 20 yr olds romancing man pushing thirties.

I love this. And i hope the "inevitable" success of Heirs this fall will inspire a saturation of campus dramas in kdrama.

Honestly I wasn't a big fan of the first episode :/ Nothing really hooked me so far. I was hoping for more musical numbers I think. I've seen dramas that are worse than this, but also many others that are better. That being said, I think I'll plan on watching at least one more episode to see if I can get into it.

I didn't know what to expect. Kinda knew this drama was coming out but it wasn't really on my radar & I came in this post to read if it was worth watching, decided to give it a try and now I'm hooked. loving the characters so far & thank god the female lead seems to have some backbone to her. I'm really intrigued mainly due to her because she seems to actually have some substance to her character and is not a simpering fool like most drama leads tend to be. Will definitely be watching this drama.

i'm watching because Junhyung makes me laugh (that chase scene, help me. lol)
but i loved the last scene where Seyi sings with Radio... i dunno, she didn't even realize how much she probably saved this guy's life because of the bullying he gets. (i know that's a really deep way to think but the scene just kinda means a lot)

I really liked the first episode!
I found the characters really interesting and I love the fact that even the secondary characters have their own story and aren't one dimensional.
Also, the fact that they touched on some of the problems idols have to deal with, like sasaeng fans and demanding bosses, is really inspired.

I'm only 17 minutes in and I'm HOOKED! I never expected Junhyung's acting to be so enthralling, and I'm really glad he's doing this drama :)
At 17 minutes I have a vague understanding of what the general plot is, but I'm looking forward to it for sure :D

Junhyung's acting is surprisingly compelling. That almost kiss-scene with Juyeon was flutter-worthy and I'm already shipping him with Seyi. I'm also really liking the portrayal of idols/kpop industry in this drama, seems pretty on point when compared with other dramas (looking at you, Dream High 2 + Survival Audition, Full House 2 etc, etc)

And totally in love with Radio already ♥ AND YAY FOR CAMPUS DRAMAS WITH ENSEMBLE CASTS School 2013 didn't exactly scratch that itch for me but looks like this one should.

I think it's coz' they took the idea that the audience loved the bromance (which they did) and ran away with it, so Se Young was basically became a useless character.

Really liked the first episode. It took me a bit to get adjusted to the pacing/editing but by the end of the episode everything seemed to come together. The worst part will be waiting for the next episode to come out!

Oh man, this drama hit me right in the feels. I love that is not just a drama about the star that goes to school and he falls in love with the girl but has to fight for her against the other popular guy.
There are real problems and feelings behind every character and I think we all can connect. I was about to cry in some parts tbh, that part of Junhyung's character crying as a child omfg feels. Like I'm connected to Radio now, I have to keep watching for him, I want to tell him it'll get better :(

It reminds me a little of my favorite drama SUFBB <3 and I was pleasantly surprised with Junhyung's acting as well! Before this I wasn't really fond of him but now I've warmed up to him. The girl is also super cute, ship it.
Ugh Kang Ha Neul pls. He's SO fine :3 Not feeling his character though. Man up, dude!!!

Ugh, I'll definitely keep watching. When does it air? Now I have to wait u.u
