South Korea’s TV talent audition shows have been unearthing promising singers for a few years, but most of the performers find that their time in the spotlight is brief and commercial success elusive.

A 16-year-old female singer, Lee Hi, is being tipped to break the mold after sweeping to top spot in the music charts in South Korea for the past 23 days with her debut single “1,2,3,4.”

Ms. Lee was the runner-up on popular singing-audition show “K-Pop Star” in April and subsequently joined YG Entertainment, the home of Psy, Big Bang and 2NE1.

How many times have you watched it? Korean rapper Psy's slick, wickedly satirical video "Gangnam Style" broke all kinds of sound barriers this year, clocking more than 820 million YouTube views — and counting. The über-ambitious Seoul music industry watched in amazement as the eccentric 34-year-old hip-hop artist, gleefully skewering the music machine that made him, managed to go where no Korean performer had gone before. The rest of us just danced. We'll have Psy to thank on the inevitable day when we do the horse dance for our grandkids at a wedding. And they'll have Psy to thank for the great Korean bands on whatever device they'll be using to listen to music.

Wonder Girls' Sunye is getting married!

It has been announced that Wonder Girls‘ Sun will be tying the knot with her boyfriend next year!

As fans know, Sun has often expressed her sincere and deep affections for her significant other, so this announcement may not come as a complete surprise, but it is one that has come quite sooner than expected!

JYP Entertainment stated the following:

Hello, This is JYP Entertainment.

Wonder Girls’ leader Sun (Min Sunye), an artist under our agency, will be getting married on January 26th of next year.

Sun, who debuted in 2007 and led the Wonder Girls as their leader for six years, recently informed the agency as well has the Wonder Girls’ members about her intentions, and understanding that her decision has come after much thought, we have decided to respect her decision.

Sun will be focusing on her marriage and family life for the time being, and the other members of Wonder Girls will be concentrating on individual activities such as acting, producing, solo albums, and broadcast activities.

We hope for many messages of congratulations and encouragement.

AOA’s Seolhyun gains attention with her acting skills on ‘My Daughter Seoyoung’

AOA‘s Seolhyun is earning praise for her ability to portray her character.

Seolhyun currently plays an acting teacher for CNBLUE‘s Jungshin on the drama ‘My Daughter Seoyoung‘, and has been gaining much interest for playing a difficult role. Her role requires her to act out a character who acts well (the irony).

Viewers commented, “I was surprised by her acting skills since she is a rookie“, “She got completely into her role“, and “I’m watching this show for her character“.

Hearing this, Seolhyun responded, “I’m so happy that I was able to make an acting debut with a charming character like Seo Eun Soo in ‘My Daughter Seoyoung’. It’s my first time acting, but I’m working hard to be good. Even on site, everyone encourages me and tells me I’m doing well, so I work even harder. I want to show people that I’m improving even more.“

Bill O'Reilly attempts to "analyze" Gangnam Style

What’s the deal with that video with the South Korean guy dancing on an invisible horse like he’s in Monty Python or something? Well, not to worry, Bill O’Reilly is on the case! This ‘Gangnam Style’ video has been the latest, greatest craze to hit the internet, and not only is it the most-watched YouTube video of all time, but it is on its way to getting a billion views. So it’s about time O’Reilly and Fox News resident psychiatrist Keith Ablow analyzed what the hell all of this is about.

Their first conclusion? The whole thing is madness! O’Reilly can’t figure out why a guy “doing the pony” is so popular with people. Ablow said Psy may be tapping into something. That something? Nothing. Yes, in Ablow’s opinion, people enjoy listening to something that doesn’t try to say anything or make a point about anything appeals to people. Plus, it is “without intelligible words, to some extent.”

Well, first of all, it’s in another language, so I think that might explain it. But second of all, even the most basic of research on the video reveals that it actually DOES have a message. The whole point of the video was for Psy to satirize the lifestyles of Gangnam residents, because Gangnam is quite a ritzy neighborhood in South Korea.

But yet, O’Reilly and Ablow continued along the “it means nothing” line. O’Reilly quipped that he knows at least sixteen people in Long Island named Sy, while Ablow compared Psy piggybacking on internet trends to how Elvis Presley capitalized on the sexual culture during his era.

O’Reilly declared Psy to be a “fat little guy… jumping up and down,” and admitted there’s not really anything wrong with the video since, “you might lose a few pounds jumping up and down like a pony.” But Ablow warned that a video like this might be a problem if people continue watching it in order to distance themselves from reality.

SHINee's Minho and Key in London!

SHINee made a surprise visit to London, UK!

On 26th November, two members of SHINee, Key and Minho, arrived at London Heathrow Airport. They went to the Hilton in Paddington, where a few fans recognised them. They went round the city of London that afternoon visiting the Korean Cultural Centre UK and famous sites.

Key is known to have quite a few friends in London so he’s likely to hang out with them and go shopping. Last time he was in London for the London Korean Film Festival Opening Gala Concert, he spent time with the designer, Carri Munden.

Last time Minho was in London, he went to see a football match at Emirates Stadium. It is very likely that he will be seeing another football match, while he is here.

The two members are leaving London from Heathrow Airport on 29th November. Until then, I hope they have a great time!
