It has been almost half a year since they restarted their activities and on this day in June 2011, the two of them came to Costa Del Sol of Andalucia in southern Spain. I'm still not comfortable with them deciding the 'concepts' and songs for their artistes. Don't they give their own artistes the freedom to make their own music?

StarCraft is only the beginning of the gaming revolution

Before my brother forced me to learn how to play StarCraft — so that he could enjoy ruthlessly murdering me without consequences, no doubt — I did not know that computer games other than Solitaire and Minesweeper existed. Before StarCraft, I was a child who lived under a metaphorical gaming rock; I had never played a first-person shooter or anything more complex than Super Mario. Scrabble and chess were my preferred modes of entertainment, and no one would play with me because I was a frequent winner and a terrible loser.

South Korea’s YG Entertainment Co. priced its initial public offering above a marketed range, betting investors will overlook a marijuana scandal involving the boy band Big Bang as interest in Korean pop music grows.

Seoul-based YG, which manages the band, will raise 42.4 billion won ($37 million) in the initial stock sale by selling almost 1.25 million shares for 34,000 won each, the company said in a regulatory filing today.
The label plans to list its shares on South Korea’s junior Kosdaq Index on Nov. 23, it said.

YG is aiming to defy a stock market slump and copy the success of listed rivals S.M. Entertainment Co. and JYP Entertainment Corp., whose shares have almost tripled this year amid increasing overseas popularity of Korean pop, or “K-pop.” Big Bang played to full stadiums in Japan and fans flocked to female quartet 2NE1, which is also managed by the company. The benchmark Kospi Index (KOSPI) has dropped 12 percent in 2011.

Our 10 finalists span 5 continents and a glorious assortment of genres — folk, dubstep, hip hop, dance punk, ghazal-inflected rock, reggae, indiepop, and K-pop. Of all these sounds, the last is the most region specific (Korea, obviously) and perhaps the least understood by casual observers and non-fans.

Written by Edward Chun, a Korean-American who worked as a music director for Korean TV dramas, the report examined the role of the management companies, assessed the pros and cons of grooming stars, viewed theviability of the non-pop Korean music scene,  and tackled the big question of the time: whether K-pop would ever cross over to the US mainstream. What lies beneath the effervescent energy and high-gloss shine? How did these eye-candy stars blast out into the universe? Back in 2009 MTV Iggy fed the curious with a special report: “K-Pop Uncovered.”

According to Gaon, SNSD has sold an impressive 227,994 copies of studio album The Boys in only 12 days!

Indeed, their album was released on the 19th of October and ranked 1st on the monthly charts with a sales figure that surpasses their previous record of Oh! by over 30,000 copies – Oh! sold 197,934 copies over the whole year of 2010. Their latest album therefore becomes the highest selling album of 2011 for a female artist.

Along with those amazing figures, comes JYJ with 81,867 copies of In Heaven sold this month which brings their overall sales to 218,367 on the Gaon charts.

SNSD’s and JYJ’s album currently rank 3rd and 4th respectively on the album sales rankings over 2011.

Kim Hyun Joong also recorded some amazing sales with 94,784 copies sold of Lucky, his 2nd Mini Album. Only a few weeks after release, he is only 15,000 copies short of breaking his own record of the year for a solo artist, which was set with 114,586 copies of Breakdown, his first mini-album. It seems like he really is THE solo artist of the year.

Meanwhile, Super Junior continues to lead the overall album sales rankings by placing two albums in the Top 10.

We end this memorable charts article with the Top 50 October Album Sales Rankings, plus some other noticeable figures. The first number is the October sales recorded the artist, while the second represents the artist’s overall sales for 2011.

After 309 days atop a crane -- sitting out snowstorms, a typhoon and heatwaves -- labor activist Kim Jin-suk came down to earth on Thursday, claiming victory against one of South Korea's shipbuilders.

Kim's case became a cause celebre in Asia's fourth biggest economy amid growing worker anger over wage levels and the government's business-friendly policies.

Her soapbox was a cabin aboard crane No. 85 at Busan shipyard. Thousands of supporters travelled to the port in the south of the country to attend a series of rallies near the crane which also drew applause from the main opposition party.

Kim said via Twitter that her protest had not only been successful in winning back employees' jobs, but also underlined "ideals that I have been working for half my life."
Dressed in blue overalls, and wearing a baseball cap, she waved to a few dozen supporters and bowed, before climbing down a 35-meter ladder to end her sit-in ).

On the episode of MBCGolden Fishery – Radio Star‘ that aired on the 9th, SNSD‘s Jessica admitted that she had gotten into an intense argument with fellow member Hyoyeon.

MC Kim Guk Jin who recalled that Tiffany and Taeyeon had previously gotten into a heated argument asked Jessica if she had ever fought with any of the members.

I fought with Hyoyeon before,” she admitted. “I thought I was going to get hit,” she continued, evoking laughter. “Hyoyeon was sitting in the front seat and I was sitting in the back. She started saying things to me that I didn’t really appreciate, so I started saying things back to her.”

MC Yoon Jong Shin then said, “Once you start fighting, you probably say things to one another that aren’t appropriate for TV… do the SNSD members use profanity?”, to which Jessica witfully remarked, “I told you she said things I didn’t appreciate. Thing I didn’t appreciate!“, which cause more laughter on the set.

Guest-starring on this particular episode were Park Hyemi and Lim Tae Kyung, as well as SNSD members Taeyeon, Jessica, and Tiffany.

Actress Oh In Hye became an overnight sensation after she walked down the red carpet in a daring orange dress at the ‘16th Busan International Film Festival‘ yesterday. The dress blew her name up in the media, and it was all people could talk about for the entire day after.

To clear up any misunderstandings, Oh In Hye sat down with reporters and discussed her feelings on the entire ordeal.

When told, “The dress you wore became a hot issue in the media,” she replied, “I still don’t feel it.  It was my first time on the red carpet so I was just so surprised to see the reactions.  All of my friends began calling me, telling me not to feel down with the hate.  Although there were positive replies, there were also some bad ones.  I merely went to the event hoping to get caught on camera, but I think the situation blew up into something out of my control.  There were some who criticized me for going overboard, but what I want to make clear is that I didn’t seek the attention purposely.

When asked on why she chose the dress, Oh In Hye replied, “Doesn’t everyone dream of attending a film festival?  It was my first time, so I didn’t know what dress to wear.  An unni I know from my movie recommended a wedding shop store in Seoul, so I rented a dress from there.  I didn’t have much to choose from to begin with, so I just chose that dress.  It also didn’t fit me so I had to personally tailor the shoulder part and length.  I don’t have a stylist.  The dress was worn by Baek Ji Young six years ago.”

She continued, I don’t have experience with these events so I didn’t know what amount of exposure was appropriate or not.  I just wore whatever they gave me.  The dress was so old that a lot of it needed tailoring.”

Concluding the interview, she stated, “I’m really self conscious and get hurt easily.  When I saw that I was the most searched figure online, I was worried about tomorrow.  My parents knew that I had been going through a hard time and just told me to not focus on the hateful replies and just overcome it as a life experience.”

that's a whole lot of bs to me. It was pretty obvious that she wanted the attention. Would have been better if she kept her mouth shut about the issue though..
