In South Korea, expectant mothers are flooding hospitals with requests for Caesarian-section deliveries

Some moms will do anything to give their kids an extra edge.
In South Korea, expectant mothers are flooding hospitals with requests for Caesarian-section deliveries to ensure that their little ones are born on Nov. 11, 2011, Reuters reports.
That’s 11/11/11.
Kids born on that day will have the numbers 111111 as part of their Korean Resident Registration Number, the government-issued ID that citizens will use their entire lives.
"There's always people with due dates in January who want to deliver on the first of the month, but this seems more unusual -- trying to set delivery so they can have the ID number 111111," a staffer at a maternity clinic said.
In South Korea, Nov. 11 is known as the Pepero Day or Sweetest Day.
Pepero is a chocolate-dipped cookie snack, similar to Japan’s Pocky.

Date: 2011-11-10 09:18 pm (UTC)Otherwise, yeah C-section is a major surgery, but generally not life threatening. Noticed others sharing and I'll follow the trend: I was an emergency C-section actually while the brother was a planned one. Also knew someone whose older sister had C-sections because she could get a tummy-tuck right then and there after having the kid. Interesting to think about.
