South Korea Now Has a "Games" Category on the App Store

Working in the iOS industry since the beginning has filled my head with all sorts of factoids that might not immediately seem that useful, but I'd be a beast on Jeopardy, assuming they ever had a "Random Mobile Gaming Trivia" column. One of these many tidbits I've soaked up is that before today there was no "games" category in the South Korean App Store.

Previously, the South Korean government had a very tight approval process that worked similar to a more strict version of the ESRB. Only, while getting rated by the ESRB in the USA is fairly optional, getting government approval was required. This caused a whole lot of friction with Apple, a company who historically hasn't had that great of a record of compromise. Instead of working with the South Korean government, they just shrugged and axed the game category all together.

S. Korea's tax agency cracks down on illegal wealth transfer

South Korea's tax agency said Thursday that it is investigating owners of some mid-sized local companies on charges that they used irregular methods to transfer wealth to their offspring without paying due taxes.

The probe is part of the government's efforts to crack down on offshore tax evasions and illegal wealth transfer among rich people and those in the corporate sector, according to the National Tax Service (NTS).

The NTS said that it is now conducting a tax probe in 11 cases involving business people on suspicion that they transferred wealth to their offspring through irregular ways, including using tax havens. So far this year, it has collected 278.3 billion won (US$246.3 million) from them in additional taxes.

After the shocking G-Dragon-marijuana use controversy at the beginning of October, it has been recently reported that Supreme Team's E-Sens (Kang Minho) has confessed to marijuana use.

According to his agency, Amoeba Culture, E-Sens has been investigated by police since mid-September. E-Sens had confessed to using marijuana for the past year.

This sudden announcement was made when it was revealed by E-Sens that he would be temporarily halting his music career on November 2nd, making many people wonder if this was due to his health condition, as he is known to suffer from asthma and tuberculosis.

E-Sens said during a recent press conference, "It all began out of curiosity, but later was driven by impulses and error in judgment so I know no excuse will make any of my illegal activities forgivable. I am sorry to my fans and all those who have helped and supported me, and I felt guilty too so I have decided to halt all my activities. I bow my head in apology to all of you I have caused concern for."

An official from Amoeba Culture then added that no other employee or artist under their company were involved, and further apologized for not managing their artist better.

"While E-Sens spends time reflecting on himself, we will do our best to support him in all the ways possible including managing his health and personal life, and helping his rehabilitation."

[shocking] Sechs Kies's Lee Jaejin involved in a car accident; caught under the influence of alcohol

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency reported on November 3rd that Lee Jaejin caused a car accident due to being under the influence of alcohol. The car accident occurred late on November 2nd at 11:20PM.

Lee Jaejin's blood alcohol concentration level was measured at 0.087 percent at the time.

An official from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency said, "There were no major injuries for either party and Lee returned home after undergoing investigation for the accident."

Lee Jaejin was a former rapper from the popular male group Sechs Kies. After the group disbanded, he made his debut as a solo artist. He is also known to be the older brother of YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyunsuk's wife, Lee Eunjoo.

90s Girl Group Cleo To Reunite For "Comeback Show Top 10"

Popular ’90s girl group Cleo will be making a return through SBS Plus‘s new show dedicated to old-school idols, ‘Comeback Show Top 10‘.

Cleo debuted in 1999 with leader Kim Hana, Park Ye Eun, and Chae Eun Jung. However in the following years, the group underwent some changes. Park Ye Eun left in 2000, and Han Hyun Jung joined as a new member. In 2004, Chae Eun Jung also decided to leave as well and was replaced by Jung Yebin.

Though the members lived relatively low-key lives after disbanding, the group became a topic of public interest after a scandal involving Han Hyun Jung and a fraudulent marriage arose. Despite their past issues, the original members Ye Eun, Eun Jung, and Hana have decided to appear on the show.

Kim Hana commented, “After disbanding, I wasn’t able to leave the house. When it was night, I would be afraid of the next day that would follow, and was unable to eat or sleep alone without my parents there,” revealing the hardship and heartache she went through.

Kim Hana’s full story about the hardship she faced before and after the disbanding of the group will be revealed through the first episode on November 16th.

Recently, there was a claim that netizens found an issue with Taeyeon and Yoona’s performance in their MTV Iggy interview in New York on October 24th, particularly the screencap above of Taeyeon resting her chin on her hand.

SM Entertainment released a statement on November 1st detailing what exactly happened, stating “The program MC wanted to talk while watching the Girls’ Generation music video being shown on the low monitor. Taeyeon was shown on screen naturally resting her chin on her hand while watching the monitor” and that “We hope there are no other misunderstandings.”

Also, “That day, Taeyeon and Yoona, as well as the other members’ conditions weren’t very good, but they appeared on the show of their own volition and, along with the fan meeting schedule afterward, did their best to digest their schedule.”

TRAX reveals tracklist for 3rd mini album "Window"

After some attentive fans discovered TRAX's comeback plans last week, and a news article earlier this week, the contents of the band's comeback mini album have been revealed.

Apart from the album's title track "Window (Blind)," another five tracks were revealed to be included in the release.

It's also been reported that both TRAX members Jungmo and Jay have actively taken part in the album's production, and writing and creating process of the songs, making this release more personal than any of their previous work.

TRAX will be returning to the music business with comeback stages on every music show starting next week. "Window" will be revealed on November 10th.
