SM's Stock Price Continues to Rise due to "SHINee Effect"

SM stock price went up to 24,700 Won, reaching a record high for the past 52 weeks.

Currently at 10 a.m., 1 July, SM stocks are being traded at 24,350 Won, 750 Won (3.18%) up from the previous day.

SM stocks have shown an upward turn since June 24th (Replay was released on the 22nd) except for the 28th when they remained steady. The total increase amounts to 29%.

SM Entertainment’s stock price is increasing for three days in a row.

Currently at 9:41 a.m., 1 July, SM stocks are being traded at 24,650 Won, 4.45% up from the previous day. SM stocks have been showing an upward turn except July 28th since June 24th.

The recent strength of SM stocks is attributed to the fact SHINee’s debut single is selling well.

SHINee sold 91,000 copies of their debut single in the first week. This is the best record made by Korean singers who ventured into Japan.

People in the stock street forecast that SM will continue to make good sales with the diversification of their artists in Japan.

Jea and Ga-In from the Brown Eyed Girls are receiving tons of compliments after they revealed their make-up free faces through Twitter.

On July 5th, Jea tweeted, “Good Night. What a killer night view. Sleep well“, and uploaded rare pictures of her and her group mate in a room at Park Hyatt Seoul.

Jea and Ga-In’s milky skin and glowing faces were captured in the shot, which led fans to comment, “Even your bare faces are pretty“, “I almost didn’t recognize you guys” and “Goodnight goddesses.”

Raspberry Field reveals MV's for ‘You See…’

As expected Raspberry Field had a new single out on July 5. The name of the two track digital single is 'You See', and on the title track Sweet Sorrow's Kim Young Woo is featured.

In order to introduce the new song the band's vocalist Soy has directed a short film called Index Finger (검지손가락) where she's also acting alongside fellow actor colleague Ryu Duk Hwan. 'You See', is playing during the ending credits, but the entire short is sweet enough to deserve those initial minutes.

T-ara's Japanese Showcase: Girl fans VS boy fans

Girl group T-ara has now immersed themselves into Japan.

T-ara performed at the Tokyo AX Hall on the 5th of July at 7:30PM where 1,500 fans were in attendance for T-ara's first Japanese stage performance.

That day, fans lined up for the showcase hours before it started. In Japan, there was a big difference in gender ratios in fans as compared to the one in Korea.

When you go to a Korean girl group concert, you'll see that there are a lot of male fans that end up lining up in front of reporters. However, in this showcase, T-ara's power was shown as there was more female fans than male fans.

One of the girl fans present were asked where they found T-ara and what T-ara's charm was and she said, "I found them through a YouTube video. They are able to deliver stylish, sexy, and cute performances and it's very cool. Compared to Japanese girl groups there's more professionalism."

A J-ROCK representative says, "Japanese girl groups focus on visuals while Koreans focus on giving perfect performances. Therefore, Japanese girl fans wish to follow this kind of trend."

They continued by, "In the case of the male Japanese fans, rather than accessing their hearts to a perfect star, they prefer to access to girl groups who are not as complete."

The showcase finished late at night and T-ara had to return back to their hotel, but some of the girls ran chasing and screaming after them.

Japan's greatest satellite-broadcaster Scapa will broadcast T-ara's First Japanese Showcase in 3D and 2D on the 14th of August, whilst FUJI-TV "Next Channel" will display a close up view of the recording room at the showcase in the special program "T-ara to T-ara"on the 27th of August.

Meanwhile, T-ara is promoting their new title track "Roly Poly" in Korea. They will release the Japanese version to "Bo Peep Bo Peep" in September of this year.

New girl group duo Black Eye has released their first digital single titled "I'm Still Not A Woman" on July 6th. The group consists of Taekyung and Da-in. Their digital single "I'm Still Not A Woman" combines hip-hop and electronic with the intense beat of techno music and rap.

The composer of Seo Inyoung's "I Want You," Uptown's "My Style," T-ara's "TTL Listen 2," Outsider's "Acquaintance," Miss S's "What Did You Do To This Age," and hit songwriter MASTERKEY, who recently turned into a lyricist, teamed up for the Black Eye's debut song.

miss A confirms comeback for end of July

miss A will be returning to the music scene by the end of July!

The ladies shot to stardom with their back-to-back hits “Bad Girl Good Girl” and “Breathe“. Currently, the group is busy completing the final stages of album production.

On July 6th, JYP Entertainment revealed,

“miss A will be starting their first album promotions in the 4th week of this month. They plan to have many Korean activities.“

According to their agency, miss A’s upcoming album was directed by JYP Entertainment’s head producer, J.Y. Park. miss A is determined to exceed the popularity of their previous hit songs with their new title track, the details for which have yet to be revealed.

A JYP Entertainment representative said,

“It will be a miss A signature dance song with lots of excitement. It shows off the charms of the matured members. Since it’s their first full length album, the members have prepared for a long time prior to making their comeback.“

A post on an online community board revealed a set of pictures, titled ‘Krystal’s 11 abs’. The pictures are from f(x)’s performance in “Show! Music Core” on July 2nd.

F.T Island's Concert "Play! Island" Sells Out In 10 Minutes

Tickets to F.T. Island’s concert next month were gone in 10 minutes, selling out on various internet sites and ticket booths.

The traffic for some advance-purchase ticketing sites were reported to have been so large that it caused massive stress to the servers, bringing the sites down at a certain point. F.T. Island’s agency FNC Music stated, “After the tickets sold out in 10 minutes, the agency was called by numerous fans. In order to present a good concert stage, the members are practicing day and night. Please look forward to it.”

The concert will play on August 20th and 21st in Seoul at the AX-Korea hall.

Jung Yeop dismisses rumors regarding his sexual orientation



On July 6th, singer Jung Yeop finally came forth to clear any misunderstandings regarding his sexual orientation.

Brown Eyed Soul’s Jung Yeop from the popular TV show, “I Am A Singer“, was interviewed on this week’s SBS “One Night Of TV Entertainment”, where it was revealed that the main reason for his popularity amongst female fans was his “softness“. Jung Yeop admitted, “I do have a soft spot in me. I like planning dates and events.”

He added, “I once made an album for my significant other which contained pictures I took with my camera of all the places we went together, like seats we sat on together, and the first time we went to a convenience store together. I’m very positive towards love. I feel the most important thing in life, is love.”

When the interviewer began the topic of a few opinions and misunderstandings that have been surrounding the singer recently, Jung Yeop clarified, “There are a lot of people who ask me if I like men. There’s even been a time when it was a related search on search engines.”

Summer death revives fan death myth

A man reportedly died on Monday morning after sleeping with an electric fan running.

The 59 years-old victim, only known by his surname Min, was found dead with the fan fixed directly at him.

The police revealed that although Min used to suffer from relatively high blood pressure, it was not serious enough to require medication. They are still investigating the cause of death.

4 out of 10 fearful of walking outside at night

More than four out of every 10 South Koreans are afraid of walking outside late at night, a police poll showed Sunday, indicating a relatively high level of public anxiety over security at night.

According to the poll by the National Police Agency, 43.7 percent of the total 28,103 respondents said they feel threatened when walking along streets late at night while only 28 percent responded they don’t.

The poll also found that 37.1 percent are afraid of being robbed, while just 30.7 percent are not afraid of such crimes.

Asked about fairness in the way the police deals with investigations, 37.5 percent said the police are fair while 13.7 percent responded otherwise.

“On the basis of the poll results, police will continue reformation efforts in order to help reorient police activities toward people’s needs,” a police official said.

KARA’s Park Gyuri recently posted some hilarious photos of herself exercising in a unique outfit.

On July 6th, Gyuri tweeted, “At the gym. This is what’s happening right now.” The photo she attached was of her obediently walking on the treadmill in a school uniform. She added, “I’m doing the best that I can. This is not a setup.”

On the same day, she added another two photos with the caption, “At the tanning shop after the gym” and “I received my vocal training. There’s not much of the day left now.”

In the first of the two photos, Gyuri is seen standing and posing in front of a bright blue tannin machine; in the second picture, Gyuri can be seen looking down on a piece of paper during her singing lesson with her vocal trainer instructing in front of her.

These pictures are actually proof-shots; Gyuri was fulfilling her punishment for losing the “Don’t Hang Up” corner on her radio show, “Shindong & Park Gyuri’s Shimshim Tapa”. The punishment was for her to undergo her everyday schedules while wearing a school uniform.

Spike Lee eyes the Oldboy remake

Twitch has learned that Spike Lee is currently in talks to direct the long-rumored Hollywood remake of Park Chan-Wook´s Oldboy.

Word of a US remake of the Park Chan-Wook revenge classic first surfaced in 2008 with word that both Steven Spielberg (in some capacity) and Will Smith were eyeing the project and now it appears to finally be moving ahead.

The film is set up at Mandate with Doug Davison and Roy Lee producing and Mark Protosevich (Thor, I Am Legend) writing the script.

Lee is a shocking but intriguing prospect to direct this material and a damn sight more interesting than most of the director´s whose names have been floated as possibilities over the years. As for Smith, there´s no word yet if he is still involved but the man did just refuse the lead role of Tarantino´s Django Unchained, which would suggest he´s got something else in the works.
