T-ara's Hyomin drowns on the set of Gisaeng Ryung

On May 26th, T-ara’s Hyomin attended the press conference for her upcoming horror film, “Gisaeng Ryung“, and introduced the underwater set from the movie.

She began, “The members think that I match the character I play in the horror film. Since I’m the third member after Jiyeon and Eunjung to play in a horror movie, the other members weren’t really that surprised. They jokingly asked if our group is turning into a horror group.”

With a smile, she continued, “We have young fans so I’m going to try to not make it as scary.”

At the set, Hyomin acted out the role of her character ‘Yurin’ being attacked and drowned by a ghost underwater. “Gisaeng Ryung” is a film about a couple moving into an abandoned home and experiencing unnatural situations.

The film will hit theaters on August 4th.

Cube Entertainment's male group BEAST, composed of Yoon Doojoon, Jang Hyunseung, Yong Junhung, Yang Yoseob, Lee Kikwang, Son Dongwoon, has had their latest music video surpass the 1 million hit on Youtube. BEAST recently released their full album "Fiction and Fact" last week.

The "Fiction" music video was released on Youtube on May 16th and has since then accumulated to date 1,307,511 views, becoming one of the most top rated videos in Korea.

In additions, the video has been most viewed music this week in countries such as Hong Kong (2), South Africa (9), New Zealand (10), India (7), Israel (51), Ireland (93), Canada (9), Australia (6), Yemen (54), Japan (13), Sweden (28), Taiwan (2), France (21), Mexico (50), Spain (70), and more.

2PM are featured on the cover of the May 20 issue of the free magazine "TOWER," distributed in Tower Records stores, in commemoration of the release of their Japan debut single "Take off." Named "K-POP's Strongest Beast Idols," what is Asia's No.1 boy group really like......? Here is the full behind-the-scenes coverage of the photoshoot!

The cold had yet to remain for another 3 months and 10 days when 2PM held their photoshoot at a certain place in the metropolitan area during an interval in their hectic schedule. The 6 boys surprised the staff with their Japanese skills, greeting them with phrases such as "Hello!" and "Please take care of us!" while moving into their designated spots.

Super Junior’s Leeteuk talks about Hallyu wave, mentions the possibility of SMTown South America

On May 25th, KBS’s “News Line” spotlighted the Hallyu wave and interviewed Super Junior’s Leeteuk for the first time on live news.

Leeteuk was interviewed as one of the representative of idol groups who are leading the Hallyu wave outside of Asia into Europe. He revealed, “Once a week, we circulate all over Asia including Japan, China, Malaysia, and Vietnam. We haven’t held a concert in Europe yet, so we were still surprised to see the response we garnered there.”

He continued, “We monitor the responses through press reports. They say that the popularity is stronger than ever, but I feel that we’re just now taking our first step. I think people take a liking to us because our music and performance style is both fresh and cool.”

Approaching the topic on communicating with foreign fans, he said, “Because we can’t visit and hold a concert in every country, we communicate to our fans through social networking services.”

When asked in what language he communicates in, he replied, “There are programs that translate directly so it comes in great use.”

When asked for his thoughts on the growing Hallyu wave, Leeteuk commented, “I think we need to work harder to make sure that the Hallyu wave isn’t just a one-time ripple, but a continuous and consistent wave. We can’t be blinded by the profit that we see immediately and need to make sure that there’s strong cultural exchanges between ours and theirs.”

The reporter then asked whether Leeteuk thought idol groups were artificially created products, to which he replied, “It’s reality in that I can’t deny that idols are planned products. I think that this can be upgraded when our young friends gain more experience and get older, so I hope that everyone watches over them.”

He continued, “I’ve grown a lot over the past seven years. I wouldn’t say I have a lot of experience, but I picked up skills along the way on how to do this and that. I think success only comes to those who wait and work hard. New idols need both passion and patience in their hearts.”

Concluding the show, Leeteuk also mentioned the possibility of “SM Town in South America“, as well as the possibility of Super Junior’s “Super Show 4” being developed into a world tour, so stay tuned for more updates on that.

After the broadcast, Leeteuk tweeted, “For the first time, an idol guested on a live news show! I was so nervous that I was shaking, but it was so fun. I would like to thank everyone once again. I will bow my head and become a person that works even harder.”

Nexen, ‘Infinite’ L Threw Opening Pitch for the KIA Match on the 25th

Infinite’s L is going up on the mound at Nexen Heroes’ home stadium in Mokdong. 

Nexen revealed that they picked L, from the 7 membered male group Infinite, to throw the opening pitch during the match with KIA Tigers at 6:30 PM on May 25th at Mokdong Stadium. 

L (19), who is throwing the first pitch on this day, revealed, “I’m really happy to be able to throw the opening pitch for a baseball game, which was something I dreamed about.” And added, “I practiced a lot to show an amazing opening pitch.”

Inifnite, who was promoting actively with their single album’s title song, ‘Nothing’s Over’, has recently received a lot of love as they performed ‘Can U Smile’, which showed off their vocal abilities.

Also, Infinite received the popular teen award in the 2010 18th Korean Culture Entertainment Awards.

GP Basic To Hold A Showcase In Japan

Korea’s youngest girl group, GP Basic, will hold a showcase at HEP HALL in Osaka, Japan on May 28th.

GP Basic debuted last August with their digital single, “Game“. They’ve decided to expand overseas and put on a showcase for their Japanese fans while participating in broadcast programs. On the day of the showcase, they plan to perform 6 songs total, including their upcoming single, “Jelly Pop” – which is actually scheduled to premiere in June. They are also scheduled to hold an interview as well.

GP Basic will be joined by two other girl groups from Japanese agency, Avex.

The girls’ agency stated, “Officials from the Japanese music industry have shown much interest in Korea’s youngest girl group. We are planning to have all proceeds from the Japanese activities and showcase go towards the earthquake disaster relief fund.”

A Venezuelan group by the name of Zivao, released a song called “Dentro de tu piel” or “Under Your Skin”, which sounds exactly like TVXQ’s “Mirotic.” Listen below!

A TVXQ representative has said, “We’ve never heard of a group called Zivao before. We will look into the problem.”

However, remember that “Mirotic” was not created by S.M.German singer Sarah Connor has also released “Under My Skin,” after she legally bought the copyright. Sarah Connor was restricted to releasing the song in North America, Australia, and Europe, while TVXQ was restricted to Asia (funny how they did not say anything about South America!). Nonetheless, if Zivao did plagiarize illegally, they should face proper consequences.

SHINee appeared on Mezamashi TV this morning in Japan with special footage, including the making of Replay and now there's good news for fans! The long wait has been cut dramatically short. The full PV of Replay (You Are My Everything) will be released at noon, 27th May, that is tomorrow!

SHINee will release the full version of the music video for their Japan debut single Replay through EMI Music Japan’s official YouTube channel on 27 May.

The music video featuring SNSD Yoona will show each SHINee member’s different styles.

The teaser, posted on 16 May, was ranked 1st in the category of Japanese musicians and 2nd in the category of world’s musicians on YouTube.

The ringtones for Replay and Hello, released respectively on 28 April and on 14 May through Japan’s largest mobile site Rekochoku, made history by topping the daily chaku uta chart. For the first time in the history of Rekochoku, songs from the same single album topped the daily chart consecutively.

Replay is the Japanese version of Noona Is So Pretty, SHINee’s popular debut song in Korea.

Former SG Wannabe member Chae Dong Ha commits suicide

Korean media outlets are reporting that on May 27th, SG Wannabe’s former member Chae Dong Ha (30) committed suicide by hanging himself in his home in Bulkwang-dong.

The Eunpyung-gu rescue team received a report from Chae Dong Ha’s manager on the morning of the 27th. They stated, “He was pronounced dead on the scene, and police have confirmed the identity of his body.”

His agency stated, “Chae Dong Ha has always suffered from depression. He recently returned after completing his Japanese promotions. This morning, we weren’t able to get into contact with him so we called 911 and later discovered him.”

Many are speculating that Chae Dong Ha’s depression sourced for the suicide of his former manager, who passed away two years ago inhaling gas in a motel room.

In his official comeback album, “Essay“, Chae Dong Ha had written a special message to the manager, which read, “It was a moment more exciting than my first kiss. My first manager. My consolation, my friend, and my hyung. The moment I met that person, I had received the whole world. As of June 9th, 2009, he is no longer by my side. Half of my heart is still missing. Still. ‘Hyung, you have to be happy, okay? Promise me that you’ll be happy…’”

Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and loved ones at this time.

f(x) To Release Repackage Album!

SM Entertainment's girl group f(x) has made a successful comeback to the Korean music scene after going on hiatus last year after promoting their mini-album "Nu ABO." For months, fans have been awaiting until the day that f(x) returned to the stage as a 5-member group with Amber. The girls have been praised by fans and netizens for their overwhelming improvement since they were last seen on stage for official promotions.

Since the release of their full-length album "Pinocchio," f(x) has soared on online charts and have thus far won two K-Charts (April 29th and May 20th), a triple crown on Mnet M! Countdown, and triple crown on SBS Inkigayo.

SM Entertainment revealed to Star News that the agency and f(x) will begin working on the group's repackaged album after the SM Town in Paris concert in June. They continued to reveal that f(x) are happy to see positive reactions from fans for their first album.

f(x) have been reported that they are excited to perform and greet fans with new songs. The songs will feature a different sound than the original album.
