“Women Chosun” has reported that a former member of KARA, Kim Sung Hee, will be getting married to Yang Won Joon (31), the eldest son of voice actor Yang Ji Woon. The two have been dating for about a year, and they plan to tie the knot on May 7th at a small wedding hall in Kyungkido, Paju.
The two first met approximately 2 years ago through their religious community, and grew close while attending various musical activities around the world. It’s been confirmed that the parents of the lovers met a year into their relationship, and agreed to set a wedding date.
Reflecting on his approval over his son’s choice, Yang Ji Woon said, “People can’t guess how cute our future daughter-in-law is when she does things. My wife is absolutely taken by her charms. Long ago, my son has gone through some hard times, but I look forward to him creating an ideal family by meeting a good wife.”
Yang Won Joon has spent time in jail for refusing to fulfill his military duties for religious reasons in June of 2009.
Turning back to Kim Sung Hee, the former KARA member shocked the music industry in 2008 when she announced that she was going to officially withdraw from the group. There were various rumors floating around as to why she decided to quit, but the most prominent was how her idol group activities were ‘interfering with her religious life.’ Currently, she works as a vocal instructor for aspiring singers.

Minzy tweeted:
“@harooluvstar 이제 봄언니도 트위터한다~^^ㅋㅋ반가워요~ㅎㅎ / @harooluvstar Now, Bom unni is on twitter too~^^ ㅋㅋI’m glad~ huhu”

Let’s just hope this is just a temporary look for Kim Tae-hee, who goes for a short cut in My Princess. Trust the palace’s resident Bitch in Waiting, Yoon-ju (Park Ye-jin), to be the mastermind of the style change: She tells Seol that she needs to change her hair for a more “elegant” look.

[Poll #1672402]
Popular K-Pop digital download service and Korea’s largest P2P system Soribada has officially launched in English.
The website has been receiving requests from international fans for a long time now, who were unable to use the service due to the language barrier and sign-up process, but now English-speaking fans from around the world will be able to legally support their favorite artists and check out how they’re faring on the various Soribada charts (just like on iTunes).
K-Pop has been available internationally on iTunes for a while now — which is how Taeyang reached #1 and #2 on Canadian and US iTunes last year — but Soribada has a wider variety of artists and downloads will count towards the official Korean charts.
All the files are DRM-free MP3 files so they don’t have any weird issues like Apple’s M4As, some songs will be as cheap as 0.08 USD per track, and Soribada are offering 10 free downloads for new members.

The increasingly contentious ’slave contract’ issue has grown to such proportions that even international companies are sitting up to take notice. After observing the cases of JYJ-SM Entertainment and KARA-DSP Media, many Japanese entertainment agencies have been voicing their confusion over why contract terminations are imploding into such a controversial issue.
Contract terminations are rarely seen in the Japanese music industry. Case-in-point, the idol group SMAP, who debuted back in 1991, are still going strong even after 20 years as one of the most popular groups in the idol industry.

The South Korean military stunned the world with its dramatic rescue operation that freed all of the 21 sailors on the hijacked freighter Samho Jewelry last Friday.
A barrage of reports that describe every detail of the daring military mission dominated the media for days, fed by press releases, pictures and video footage from the Navy.
However, the media hype did not last long as politicians expressed concerns over disclosing confidential military information and tactics that should be saved for other hostage rescue missions.
“Are you insane? Why did you disclose classified information?”asked Rep. Lee Jin-sam, a four-star general-turned-politician of the Liberty Forward Party, in criticizing Lt. Gen. Lee Sung-ho as he spoke about the rescue operation in a parliamentary session Tuesday.
“Can you guarantee that such a leakage of critical information will not hamper another rescue operation in the future?”
The Navy is also mounting criticism for misleading the press by providing a picture of 25 Navy commandos taken last year on the false premise that it was taken after the successful rescue operation last week.
Only one sailor, the captain of the 11,500-ton chemical carrier, was wounded, while the Navy assault team suffered no casualties during the operation.
The abducted crewmembers were eight Koreans, two Indonesians, and 11 Myanmarese.
During the operation, eight Somali pirates were killed and the remaining five captured.

The Bureau of Immigration on Tuesday said it would expel and blacklist 86 more minors from South Korea and two others from Japan caught studying in various illegally operating language tutorial centers as the bureau continues its crackdown on illegal foreign students.
The operations came following a BI raid earlier this month at the Fantasy Island resort complex in Lemery, Batangas, in which 70 Korean minors were found studying in a clandestine English tutorial school run by seven Koreans.
Immigration officer in charge Ronaldo Ledesma said he has ordered an investigation into the possible involvement of some immigration officers who allowed the influx of foreign students into the country without study permits.
According to Ledesma, aside from the latest batch of 88 arrested students, 16 South Korean adults are to be deported for illegally operating the language schools in question and for facilitating the entry of the minors into the country.

SNSD will be releasing a photobook.
On February 8th, SNSD will be releasing 'All About Girls' Generation Paradise in Phuket DVD Preview'.This pictorial will have approximately 300-pages, containing photos of the members on their vacation in Phuket, Thailand. Fans will be able to see the members at the airport, music video set for 'Echo', a pajama party, as well as interview with the members and paparazzi cuts, showing a natural SNSD enjoying their vacation.
The early released photos show the members in white outfits, showing a pure image. Unlike the more mature charms they displayed through 'Run Devil Run' and 'Hoot', they are going for an innocent image with their hair tied in pigtails under straw hats, along with lovely, white one-pieces. The anticipation amongst fans have increased as they seem to have returned to their 'Into the New World' image during their debut.
SNSD will be continuing their activities in Japan through the SM Town Live in Tokyo concert on the 26th.

(Yonhap Feature) Hardships of being an indie musician in Korea
By Niels Footman
Contributing Writer
SEOUL, Dec. 10 (Yonhap) - When singer Song Eun-jie made a shock admission about her life as a musician in Korea, it was sadly unsurprising to people familiar with Korea's indie scene. "I'm 30 and I make around 600,000 won (US$520) a month, which leaves me just enough to buy a little make-up. My parents say I should get married, or tell me to find a proper job," she said.
Speaking in a cable TV documentary in January about Sogyumo Acacia Band, for whom she is the lead singer, Song provided a stark reminder that however vibrant Korea's TV shows and pop culture have become in recent years, life for the country's indie musicians remains extremely onerous.
Nor was hers the only tale of hardship among Korea's indie musicians to make news this year. Following the death of Lee Jin-won, the singer with indie band Moonlight Nymph, from a heart attack in early November, stories soon emerged of the serious financial difficulties he had reportedly faced toward the end of his life.
Within days, rumors were circulating on short-message social network service Twitter that Lee had even received the meager royalties for online use of his songs in a virtual currency called dotori, used on Korea's Cyworld social networking site.
Cyworld's parent company, SK Communications, swiftly denied the allegations. But the fact that they were so readily believed, and so widely retweeted, spoke volumes.

Shinhwa member Kim Dong Wan spoke about the inspirations of Shinhwa making a comeback.
On January 21 Kim Dong Wan was a guest at the SBS Power FM "Park So Hyun, Love Game" radio show, where he was asked by fans, "In the future will shinhwa have activities planned?. " "In 2012, after Jun Jin and Andy are discharged from military", " The 6 will get together again and plan to make a comeback", Kim Dong Wan stated.
Kim Dong Wan followed by saying it with a strong sense of commitment, "Even if only one person is missing, there is no meaning " , "6 people will get back together as one in the name of Shinhwa", " I also want to sing Brand New again".
Kim Dong Wan also said, "Shinhwa debuted as idols back in 1998, but had to stop activities as a group due to military service". Although, the name of Shinhwa is been around for such a long time", " We will not disband".
"We have never not even once talked about disbanding", " We are all waiting anxiously waiting to get back one stage once again" He added. "Even though we fought among us many times, we solved the problems right way, " We also have mutual respect for each other, that's why we are able to come this far"
"Shinhwa is alive" was his final statement.

For parents, aunties and grandparents, middle and high school graduation day is a time for pride, nostalgic tears and celebration.
But for the high school students themselves it’s a step toward freedom, and as graduation day approaches next month, authorities are going to prevent graduates from celebrating too freely, raucously or butt-naked. Schools, the police and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology have all vowed to prevent the rowdy and ribald demonstrations that occurred after last year’s graduation ceremonies across the country.

Male graduates hold a street march clad in nothing but pants near Ujangsan Station, western Seoul, after their graduation last February.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced Monday it will deploy all teachers in the city to patrol their own schools as soon as graduation ceremonies finish. According to the office’s announcement, teachers will cooperate with police officers in their patrols, and at least one official from the office of education will be sent to each school to observe the graduations.

Despite his seven-year career in the music industry, SS501’s Park Jung Min has been dealing with a lot of ‘firsts’ ever since he returned with his solo album, “Not Alone.”
Out of all five of his fellow group members, he’s the first to officially kick off a solo career. Although he originally intended to return last November, he delayed it for two months out of respect for the Yeonpyeong Island skirmish.

5 Member Korean girl group KARA, who is going through a break-up crisis, also star in the TV Tokyo drama "URAKARA". However, they have missed the recording schedule goal for the show. TV Tokyo stated they are supposed to air episode 4 of "URAKARA" on February 4th, but are currently looking into a substitute program to air. Originally, the 5 members had all arranged to arrive in Japan before that date to record for the show.
TV Tokyo stated that they're preparing on airing episode 3 on the 28th, but parts of episode 4 are still incomplete. They're going to attempt filming it this weekend, but they're preparing for the worst. The company stated, "Continuing the program is the most important. All we can do is wait for the conclusion of this crisis". According to Korean media, on the 25th the 3 members made their demands to DSP Media through their lawyer, but as of today the company and KARA do not have a mutual agreement.
Also, on the 26th a Korean paper posted KARA's demands. They want a management change, a new and clear system and they want a new contract where their DSP media contract ends around the time of their Japanese Universal contract.

Dumbfoundead does GTop "Knock Out"
2011-01-26 10:28 pmDumbfoundead goes off on this beat, he was very lyrical in the video. The instrumentals you hear is something you wouldn't suspect. Even though the instrumentals sounded very space like, DFD made it sound appealing with his verses. If the beat wasn't in the instrumentals, the video wouldn't have been as good as well. Theres not much more to say but enjoy the music and expect a lot from DFD in the year 2011

Put all the rumors to bed – it has been confirmed that CSJH the Grace is making a comeback later this year!
Entertainment officials have recently stated that CSJH is planning to come back to the music industry sometime around April. However, they have also revealed that CSJH may make a return as a two or three member group.
Out of all four members, it has been reported that Stephanie will be absent from this comeback, as she currently has ballet activities in Los Angeles and is focusing solely on dance. In regards to her absence, she stated, “As I want to put all my concentration into ballet as of now, I can’t come back as a member of CSJH.”
In addition, Lina expressed a desire to become an actress, so her participation in CSJH’s comeback has not been finalized.

Lina you better come back. ;__;

Dream High, which is the current leader in the Monday-Tuesday ratings race, is considering extending its run by one episode, according to a rep with the drama’s production team on January 26.
This is no surprise, since the drama was pre-empted this week to make room for the Korea-Japan soccer game in the 2011 Asia Cup. That puts the broadcasting schedule off by one episode, pushing back its scheduled finale episode (the 16th) one more week to a Monday. To even out the airing schedule and to keep the following drama from starting off askew, KBS is in talks to bring the total to 17 episodes, which would put the finale on Tuesday, March 1.
In fact, KBS has put in a request with producers for a larger extension as well. With Dream High bringing KBS back to #1 in the Monday-Tuesday timeslot after being last-place for a while (Mary Stayed Out All Night, Sungkyunkwan Scandal, Gumiho: Tale of the Fox’s Child), the broadcaster seems happy to give the drama a longer run.
However, an additional extension is looking unlikely at the moment, because casting a large number of idol stars means that the shooting schedule is under especially tight constraints. Often, idol actors are juggling crammed schedules as they balance drama shoots with pop-star duties, and therefore their post-drama schedules are already filled.
That’s too bad, because for once I think an extension could actually work, narratively if not logistically. With 7 episodes aired, there’s still time to rework the pacing, and the structure of Dream High’s episodic stories is conducive to additions. We already have mini-arcs that play out over two or three episodes (the assembling of the Misfit Mafia, the Rebel Showcase), so it wouldn’t be so difficult to add one more mini-arc. Alas, I think 17 is probably going to be our final count.
The drama slated to follow Dream High is the police drama Crime Squad, starring Kim Seung-woo and Song Il-kook.
