T-ara member Jiyeon who was recently involved in the video chat rumor appeared cheerfully as a MC and became a hot topic among netizens.

With October 9th being “Korean Alphabet Day,” representatives of the Korean music industry have brought to attention the increasing usage of English in songs.

Some examples of songs saturated with English include 2PM’s “Heartbeat”,”Again & Again”, and “Without U” 2NE1’s “Go Away” and “Can’t Nobody”; BoA’s “Hurricane Venus” and “Copy & Paste”; lastly, miss A’s “Bad Girl Good Girl” and “Breathe.”

English has almost become a lyrical necessity as well, with most choruses being penned entirely in English. Groups such as Super Junior, Brown Eyed Girls, Wonder Girls, SHINee, Big Bang, 2AM, KARA, U-KISS, T-ara, f(x), 4minute, B2ST, MBLAQ, Secret, SISTAR, RAINBOW, and others also use English names for their unit names. In comparison, there are fewer bands utilizing Korean names, such as SNSD, Daeguk Namah (The Boss), and Choshinsung (Supernova).

Representatives look at the situation as something that’s unavoidable given the globalized era that we’re in. The use of English also allows groups to leave a stronger impression on international fans.

One representative stated, “Society no longer cares about whether Korean is being used or not. English is used often in their day-to-day lives so there’s no feeling of unfamiliarity. It’s also a great way to reach out to international fans as well.”

DJ DOC to return with follow-up track this November

DJ DOC will begin promotions for their follow-up song this November.

Originally, DJ DOC had planned to follow on straight from their title track, ‘I’m This Kind of Person’, back in September, however due to their overwhelming schedules for various Fall Festivals, delaying promotions for their follow-up track was inevitable.

A representative of DJ DOC stated, “We’re likely to use the song ‘Into the Rain’ as the follow-up track, however it has not been confirmed.”

The representative continued, “We are currently in careful discussions about these upcoming promotions.”

CN Blue’s Jung Yonghwa confessed that there was some hidden meaning behind the lyrics of ‘Love Light’.

On MBC’s “We Got Married” aired on October 9th, Yonghwa confessed that he was actually thinking of his virtual wifey, Seohyun while composing the lyrics of ‘Love Light’, the 5th track in their mini album ‘Blue Love’ which was released in May this year.When Seohyun asked about the lyrics of ‘Love Light’, Yonghwa explained, “The music of ‘Love Light’ was written some time ago. When I thought of you (Seohyun), I started to put in the lyrics for the song. For the rap part, I thought of SNSD’s ‘Tell Me Your Wish’ and that was how ‘I’m genie for you girl’ came about”. SM Entertainment reports loss of 4 billion won from karaoke business

It has been reported that SM Entertainment (SME) has lost a monstrous sum of 4 billion won (approx. US $3.7 million) in the last 4 years, which coincides with the company’s expansion into the karaoke business.

In 2006, SM Bravo, a company that specialised in karaoke machines, was incorporated as a subsidiary by SM Entertainment in order for SME to expand their operations into the karaoke industry. Additionally, SM Amusement, a different company affiliated with the karaoke industry, was added to the list of subsidiaries when SM Entertainment incorporated it in 2008.

At the time of this expansion, SM Entertainment had announced that they would revolutionize the karaoke industry with their expertise in the Korean and Asian music market, as well as their influential network-ability in Asia.

However, after four years into this expansion, there remains only two karaoke establishments that are operating somewhat effectively. Additionally, the value and worth of the subsidiary company’s are failing to increase despite continued investments.

10-member, hybrid group, Co.ed, revealed their thoughts about the passion inside the team.

On the 7th in the afternoon, Co.ed met with a reporter at Mnet's "M Countdown" waiting room in Seoul Mapo-gu Sangam-dong's CJ E&M Center and shared their thoughts about the concern that a pink color feel [T/N: Meaning romantic feelings] could be easily formed because they are a hybrid group.

Co.ed member, Rascal Kwangheng, said, "Something like that feel could never be formed. We're always together and we've seen things we shouldn't have or things we should hide, so how could we create feelings like that. We feel like we're a family as if we're real brothers and sisters."

Sky Earth Yoosung also waved a hand at the members dating. He said, "Because we're a hybrid group, the public will obviously see us and make thoughts like 'aren't they dating'. Truthfully speaking, when we first met, it was awkward because we thought of the others as an opposite sex [T/N: Someone they can be attracted to]. However, as we've spent time together, those feelings naturally went away."

Co.ed is a hybrid group composed of 6 males and 4 females. Because they're all near the age of 10's and early 20's and a group created of different sexes, it evoked a curiosity about the dating inside the group. And in between netizens, they've even created a uncertain rumor that 'they use the same dormitory'.

To this, Star Light Chanmi cleared it up by saying, "We obviously use different dormitories. We don't know why there was a rumor created like that. We don't know where the others' dormitory is and we haven't gone there before."

Co.ed is a newcomer hybrid group that is made up of 10 members, besides Seeya's ex-member, Smile Soomi and One Star Hyewon, who created a hot topic as 'Little Goo Hara', there are One Light Hyoyoung, Star Light Chanmi, Solid Sungmin, Balance Noori, Hot Blooded Kangho, Sky Earth Yoosung, Rascal Kwangheng, and Wise Taewoon. Co.Ed is recently revealed their title song, 'Too Late', with an addictive electronic sound and strong beats, and are actively promoting it.

Behind the Story on Recording "Haru"



Dance group Suju's struggle in recording a ballad.

Super Junior's members Eunhyuk, Sungmin, Donghae, Ryeowook and Kyuhyun recorded the song "Angel" for 15 hours. The song is featured in "Haru," a drama aimed at promoting Korea which was produced by the Korea Tourist Service and Jaeil production. The music director Oh Joonsung who finished recording the OST of "Haru" said, "we were worried that we might not be able to finish it. However, their passion made the work delightful."

The work was rigorous as they were stuck in the recording studio for 15 hours to finish one song. Sungmin even showed signs of fatigue as he had recently worked a busy schedule. Also, it was difficult to decide where the harmonization would occur as the song was unlike the songs they were used to typically.

"It was the worst. Thankfully, as time went by, harmony between the members were mixed well that a great song was created. Ryeowook's neutral yet sensuous voice was especially excellent. Eunhyuk's rap skills were really great."

In fact, the reason Super Junior pushed back their vacation to Italy in the beginning of September to pour their passion into the "Haru" OST was because of the song "Angel." Super Junior who had asked to sing the song personally felt the charms of ballad through the hit OST producer Oh Joonsung who had previously worked on drama "Boys Before Flowers," "Prosecutor Princess," "My Girl." Eunhyuk wanted everyone to take interest in the song by saying, "recently, Shindong hyung revealed his girlfriend on Twitter. We are proudly revealing Angel."

Web drama "Haru" which was produced to promote Korea stars TVXQ's member U-Know Yunho, Han Chae Young, Lee Dahae, Big Bank, Park Siwoon and many other stars. The song "Angel" has been released and is currently receiving lots of popularity.

The drawings were drawn in the waiting room of “M Countdown” on October 7th.

Co-Ed’s agency Core Contents Media revealed, “It may not be professional, but she drew the characteristics of the members. We thought that it would be nice to show the fans, which is why we are revealing them.”

Hyewon also shyly commented, “I won an award once at an art contest in elementary school.”
