Actor Lee Byung-hun

Lee Byung-hun continues to expand his horizons. After his "kimchi Western" flick "The Good, the Bad, the Weird" featured at the Cannes Film Festival last year, he made his Hollywood debut in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra." In the fall he will appear in the U.S.-France joint production "I Come With the Rain," and his anticipated blockbuster TV soap "Iris" will hit screens at the end of the year.

CF Queens SNSD, Now Take Over the Advertising World As Well!

SNSD have conquered the music industry and now the advertising world as well and have displayed, once again, their popularity as the nation's representative girl group. Currently, SNSD are models for over 10 brands. The companies that they represent are part of the cell phone, cosmetic, financing, and food industries.

Besides the advertisements that are currently being televised, SNSD members are receiving love calls from various brands. SNSD's reign as the CF queens is expected to continue.

An advertising representative stated, "People of all ages know about and like SNSD. All nine members have their own individual charms, give off a friendly feeling, and have different images so that they can appeal to a wide range of people. This is why they are the most sought-after stars."

Brand 38 Research Institute, which specializes in brand consulting, performed a survey for "The Star Who is Most Preferred for TV Advertisements" for the second half of 2009. The survey revealed that the Big 3 are Yoo Jaesuk, Kim Yuna, and SNSD.

Recently, SNSD were selected to be the faces of Samyang Ramyun. They are a hot topic for their "Simmer Simmer" dance for the CF.

After ending their promotions for their second mini album "Tell Me Your Wish", SNSD members are currently doing individual activities while preparing for their new album.

Dream Concert 2009: No-show for Dong Bang Shin Ki; 2PM to perform as 6 members

It has been confirmed that group Dong Bang Shin Ki will not participate and 2PM will participate as 6 members for Dream Concert this year.

Dong Bang Shin Ki, with 3 of its members in a lawsuit with the company and are still undergoing a court trial, will not appear on Dream Concert 2009. And also group 2PM, with leader member JaeBum absent from the group after he left the group on 8th September, will appear as 6 members.
This was announced by a Dream Concert staff on 29th September.

'To JaeBum' forum closed due to bashing

The forum dedicated to 2PM JaeBum has closed down. The forum was set up by Seattle Glory Presbyterian church which JaeBum and his family has been attending.

The forum was originally set up to connect JaeBum with his fans. But on the homepage of the church, a message which writes “The forum ‘To JaeBum’ will be closed down permanently” on 27th September local time.

The church said, “This is the space where fans can write their messages to JaeBum, but bashes and bad comments found their way to this forum. With that, we have closed down the forum.”

 

The church has been the medium for fans to get to JaeBum, like sending letters and presents after JaeBum left Korea for his hometown Seattle. And the church has set up the forum for fans to connect directly with JaeBum.

But there has been many bashing and bad comments posted on the forum. And the church decided to close it down.

Meanwhile, the church has revealed on 26th September about the fan letters sent to JaeBum in Seattle, “There are many people who were curious about it. Very thankful. This had given (JaeBum) strength and bravery. JaeBum has revealed that he will live in the love and sincerity that everyone has showered on him.”

On the side note, Hottests are happy that the sky banner was a success!

Child Of Empire to take the k-pop world by storm

9-member group Child of Empire is set to debut! Jewelry’s company Star Empire Entertainment revealed, “The group will debut in November officially, but from 28th September, they will be holding guerrilla concerts nationwide.” The group will perform in major cities, including Seoul, for their guerrilla concert. Their seonbae from Star Empire, V.O.S will also be showing their support by appearing for their guerrilla concert.

Even before their debut, the group has already gained much interests and popularity amongst female fans. The group is known to consist of representative members uljjang Moon JoonYeong, Park Hyun Sik etc.

This is the result for the Mnet reality show ‘Empire’s Children’ which aired from April, showing the process of forming this group. There are also members have trained for more than 4 years for their singer debut.

Already, we have many mega-size male groups in K-pop group like 13-member Super Junior, and 7-member 2PM, but the group is now promoting as 6 members after leader member JaeBum left the group.

Jang Nara, the Korean wave (hallyu) singer and actress, lost nearly 7 kilograms to shoot for "The Sky and the Sea," which will be premiered in late October.

Ju Ho-sung, Jang's father and also an actor, said in a recent press interview that his daughter suffered from the drastic drop in weight (from 45 kg to 38 kg*), which led to some health-related problems.

Actor Lee Min-ho's fan meeting in Japan sold out

Tickets for Korean actor Lee Min-ho's fan meeting set for late-November in Japan sold out in an hour, according to the star's agency on Monday.

"Despite it being a launching event for the fan club in Japan, many Asian fans from Taiwan, Thailand and China are still asking about the tickets," Starhaus Entertainment explained. "Therefore, we are considering holding additional events in Osaka and other places."

Manager drops assault charges against actor Shin

The manager of actor Shin Hyun-joon, identified only by his last name Jang, dropped assault charges against the 40-year-old actor, according to police on Monday.

Jang last week had filed a complaint against Shin, saying he was hit on the stairs of a bar in Seoul and on several other occasions.

Park Yong-ha to hold Hawaii concert

Hallyu star Park Yong-ha will hold a concert in Hawaii for the second time next month, according to his agency on Tuesday.

"The concert will be held at the Hawaii Convention Center on October 17 in time with 'Yong-ha Day' which is three days prior to it," said YONA Entertainment. Fans in the state celebrate every October 14 which is the day the actor debuted.

Many people in the United States, Korea, Japan and Taiwan are also inquring about his concert, not promoted only in Hawaii but also Los Angeles and Las Vegas through KBFD TV, YONA explained.

JYPE confirms that 6-member 2PM will perform on stage @ Dream Concert

The formerly seven-member boy band 2PM will perform on stage for the first time without member Park Jae-beom who quit the group early September, according to the group's agency on Tuesday.

"We have decided that 2PM will perform at the 2009 Dream Concert on October 10," an official at JYP Entertainment said.

The group had been set to perform at the concert a while ago so the remaining six members would attend the event, the official explained, adding that the agency is currently coordinating the band's future schedule.

TVXQ and Yoona of Girls' Generation to be Witnesses of the Parliamentary Inspection

Yoona of Girls' Generation and the members of TVXQ are being issues, for they are selected to be witnesses of the parliamentary inspection of the administration which will proceed most probably on the 5th of October.

Seung-deok Kho and Mun-hwan Jo, members of the Grant National Party, have requested Jaejoong, Junsu and Yoochun of TVXQ, Yoona of SNSD and Lee Sooman, to be witnesses regarding the unjust contracts against entertainers at the Administration of Inspection of the Fair Trade Commision.

Parties concerned are claiming that even if they are selected as witnesses, the chances of attending the parliament is very small.

Tamra Will Get a Full Director's Cut DVD

Good news for fans of MBC’s Tamra the Island, which was shortened by four episodes in its original broadcast run and just wrapped this past weekend: The drama will be getting a director’s cut DVD set, which will contain all 20 of its originally planned episodes (rather than the edited-down 16-episode version).

Fans had rallied in defense of the series and launched a protest of MBC’s decision to cut the drama, circulating petitions, picketing in protest, and taking out multiple newspaper ads. They were unsuccessful in getting MBC to change its mind, but their extensive efforts (which are unprecedented in scope) did touch the hearts of the production team; fans even opened a bank account devoted to collecting funds on behalf of a 20-episode DVD set and received 1,100 responses within the first two days.

One member from the production team said, “It’s a difficult situation, but we were touched at the viewers’ petitions, so we decided to make a director’s cut DVD that restores the parts that had been cut out.”

In addition, Tamra the Island begins its Japanese broadcast on October 26.

We reported earlier about how F.T Island was marooned in the Philippines due to a typhoon.You can refer back to the old article to get all the statistics but to sum it up it shaped up to be one of the worst flooding in forty years.

Someone who spends 12 hours a day on the forums praising their idol? Someone who runs a website dedicated to their favorite celebrity? That probably is as far as a foreign fan of a Korean idol could go. A few crazed Korean fans, however, decided to take it another step - and follow their idol. By follow, I don't mean check up on the news about them every day and memorize the shows they'll be on - by follow, I mean physically follow them around. They're known as "Sah Saeng Fans" (사생팬), where Sah Saeng if short form of Sah Saeng Hwal which means "private life." As the term suggests, these girls' hobby is to observe the stars' personal lives. Dong Bang Shin Ki Denies 'Drama Rumours'

Recently, the three members of Dong Bang Shin Ki (Hero JaeJoong, Micky YooChun and Xiah JunSu), who were involved in a lawsuit against their company, have once again emphasized that their intention is only to resolve their contract problem, and not to ‘disband’.

On the 25th of September, they stated through an interview with a newspaper that they were not aware of any drama plans. They also said that they will look into this issue, as they do not know what exactly happened, and even their managers were not notified of this, too.

On the other hand, Dong Bang Shin Ki’s Hero JaeJoong, Micky YooChun and Xiah JunSu had filed a lawsuit against their agency company SM Entertainment, and had also successfully submitted the request for the evidence of their past earnings’ history and receipts.

On the 21st of August, both parties were present at the Seoul Central Court for the hearing regarding cars that were owned by both, and are still waiting for a verdict from the court.*

* Referring to the cars that were ’supposedly’ given to the three, but it turns out that they were still under SM Entertainment’s name

시애틀에 거주하고 있는 교민에 따르면 박진영은 이날 시애틀에서 재범 본인, 재범 가족과 식사 자리를 가졌다.
