Korean F4 meet Japanese fans

The Korean Flower Boys (F4) met with Japanese fans on Saturday. It was the day they found out fellow co-star Jang Ja-yeon had committed suicide. Even though their mood was somber, the boys needed to suck it in and meet with fans who came from Japan. The fans were naturally very excited to see the Korean F4.

Since the event was planned well ahead of time, the boys had to meet and greet their fans. Arriving for the meeting a little late, Kim Hyun-joong apologized for their tardiness and greeted the fans in Japanese -- much to the delight of those present.

At the fan meeting, they also talked about the accidents Kim Bum and actress Gu Hye-sun experienced while filming. Kim Bum explained that he was in two accidents and Gu Hye-sun was in an accident that caused a wound in her face and they had to stop filming last week.

Actress Jang Ja-yeon 'Left Suicide Note'

The actress Jang Ja-yeon, who hanged herself last Saturday, left a lengthy suicide note. "Ja-yeon would feel sad if she knew people consider her as a mere depression patient who died without even leaving a will," a friend told the Chosun Ilbo. "I decided to reveal some part of her writing dotted with thumbprints to pay respect to what she had in mind."

But the friend added, "Even though the note includes details of how she has been hurt since she started working in show business to become an actress, I won't reveal it all because that could cause unwitting damage to others."

Jang's friends have been suspicious that the 29-year-old really killed herself due to depression because she had just risen from relative obscurity through the hugely popular TV drama, "Boys over Flowers."

Jang was allegedly distressed over the need to choose an agency, but a representative with her current agency said Sunday, "She wanted to renew the contract with us after it expired, so we were discussing the matter. I can’t believe that problems surrounding the agency have driven her to suicide."

A representative at another agency identified as Yu, to whom Jang had reportedly talked about her problems, is believed to have seen the suicide note but has been incommunicado since he wrote on his website, "People in the entertainment world know why she killed herself."

SS501 will resume Japanese activities in May. They plan to release an album and promote for a month.

Currently member Kim Hyun Joong is in the drama “Boys Over Flowers,” originally a Japanese comic, and is enjoying success. It’s in discussion that the Korean version of “Boys Over Flowers” will be aired in Japan in April on Mnet Japan.

The two songs that SS501 sings on the “Boys Over Flowers” soundtrack, “Because I’m Stupid” (내머리가 나빠서) and “Making a Lover” (애인만들기), have received a big response from Japanese fans.

Female duo group Davichi had taken So Nyeo Shi Dae off their record-breaking 8 consecutive win on Mnet (www.mnet.com) for the 2nd week of March.

Davichi’s new hit song ‘8282′ is the new #1, taking So Nyeo Shi Dae’s ‘Gee’ off the position on Mnet. ‘8282′ has rosen up 50 ranks in 1 week, making its way up to the #1 position in just 2 weeks.

Meanwhile, So Nyeo Shi Dae ‘Gee’ was at #2 position at the 2nd week of March with their download rank at the #12 position. So Nyeo Shi Dae member So Hyun and singer Joo Hyun Mi’s trot hit ‘JJa Ra Ja Jja’ was also at #19 position.

The artistes at the top 10 positions are groups KARA, FT Island and SS501, occupying the lower ranks in the top 10 positions while solo singers WheeSung and Hwayobi are at #3 and 5.

I know I'm supposed to be doing work, but lmao I couldn't resist posting this. All the boys are smiley and stuff. Always a good thing. Chun looks especially happy that he gets to say more English than "Its looks like purple line", or "I really wanna touch myself", or "NOW BURN MY EYES SUN COMES UP BURNING THE FOG" sentences. Depression Probably Not The Reason Behind Jang Ja Yun’s Death

In an unexpected twist of event, the former manager of the late Korean actress Jang Ja Yun who committed suicide just last Saturday, has released a secret document given to him by Jang Ja Yun in February and also revealed that Jang Ja Yun’s suicide is not a result of simple depression but a underlying conspiracy.

Major Korean news sites reported on the 10th that Jang Ja Yun had gave her former manager, Yoo Jang Ho (representative of Hoyaspo Entertainment), a 12-page document on the 28th February before she committed suicide 7 days later. According to the words of the manager, Jang Ja Yun had requested for him to hand the document over to her family at all cost should anything happen to her in the future. This new source also casts doubt on the official police statement that Jang Ja Yun’s death was likely a result of depression.

Given that he has not gotten the permission from Jang Ja Yun’s family, only the first page of the document was released to the media. She wrote: “I’m only a weak newcomer, how I wish I could escape this pain.” along with her signature and thumbprint on the document. However, it is unknown as to what “pain” was she referring to.

Choi Ji-woo is flying solo, leaving her management behind to establish her own company.

The glam (and melodrama) queen has ended her contract with Olive Nine, and even before its expiration (on March 1), Choi been approached with many management offers from other large companies. Ultimately, Choi decided to assert her independence and is busily working to set up her own company in hopes to be ready by early April — hiring staff, renting an office.

A representative from Olive Nine says that despite Choi leaving the company (they’ve ended the contract “cleanly, and promised to keep on good terms”), they will continue to have a relationship of “strategic cooperation.” For instance, she is still conferring with them about a few projects in development.

Other stars who have gone independent include Choi’s Winter Sonata co-stars Bae Yong-joon and Park Yong-ha, as well as her Everybody Has Secrets co-star Lee Byung-heon. (Lee Byung-heon’s BH Entertainment reps Han Chae-young; Rain’s J Tune reps Lee Da-hae and Yeon Jung-hoon; Yonsama’s BOF reps Choi Kang-hee and So Ji-sub, although the latter is ending his contract in April.)

Solbi comes clean about plastic surgery

After last week's episode of MBC Music Core, which Solbi currently MC’s, netizens spoke up about how different she looked compared to the episode the week before. Solbi’s face was clearly swollen, more so than usual. Not believing that she could’ve gained that much weight to look like in just one week, netizens speculated that she must've recently had some work done and they were right.

Solbi admitted that days prior to her appearance on Music Core she had surgery done on her eyes to give her face a more refreshing and feminine look. Specifically, her doctor performed a procedure to make her eyes look wider by cutting the inner corners of her eyes. Solbi said she could’ve canceled her appearance on Music Core to rest up but she felt that the surgery didn’t change her look that much so she opted to go ahead and perform her hosting duties. Solbi went on to say that she hopes her fans compliment her on her new look... She also said that soon she will recommence her singing activities and she’ll try her best to show more confidence and a more attractive look.

More has been revealed as investigations progress after the unfateful news of new actress Jang Ja Ye

Investigations shed light to some of the writings left by Jang, that talks about her pains as a newcomer actress before she committed suicide

Although not all her writings, written on 12 A4 size paper, were revealed. Here are some of the content to her letter revealed by the police.

" I’m a weak and powerless actress…

I wish to escape from all these pains…"

As to what ‘pains’ Jang was referring to was not disclosed.

Jang Ja Yeon plays one of the JinSeonMi trio in KBS ongoing drama Boys Over Flowers. She also appeared in the movie ‘They are coming’ last year.

Jang’s family, who are currently mourning for her death, has expressed that they will cooperate with the police to get to the bottom of Jang’s sucide.

One of the artiste mangers in this entertainment field provided with the type of pains that new actress go through, “Sometimes a new actress will have take on things other than acting. This is the way it works in this industry. The 3 basic pains that new actresses face: Advertisers who demand ‘the body’, production companies who will demand the money, and the mental pains from coming from lonely family background. No matter how small the CF will be, appearing on it increases your popularity. And sometimes you will have to do whatever the advertiser will demand you to do.”

While, Jang’s management company’s representative said, “I know why the entertainment world is like that. It’s because it has to keep fighting with the public till the end.”

Meanwhile, netizens are all speculating the reasons to Jang’s death over the internet.

Actor Jang Dong-geon Aiming for an Oscar

Actor Jang Dong-geon visited his Japanese fans in Yokohama on Friday for the first time in two years.

Some 4,500 fans from Japan, Korea and Taiwan flocked to the fan meeting entitled "2009 Jang Dong-geon's Story-Opening the door to the world."

Jang is a global star serving as a goodwill envoy for the United Nations World Food Program. At the event, he appeared on the stage from inside a blue globe-shaped balloon.

He greeted his fans, saying, "Let's have a good time" in Korean, Japanese, Chinese and English. After a video recap of his full acting career, a talk show commenced.

Jang said, "I want to show a new side of myself never before conveyed on film. My first English language role in 'Laundry Warrior' will likely come out this year. I will strive to receive an Oscar award one day."

He also introduced his service for WFP, saying, "A person starves to death every 6-7 seconds in the world. Famine is not due to food shortage, but problems in food distribution. I urge your interest in this basic human concern that goes beyond political and ideological differences."

Fans also celebrated his 37th birthday, which was the next day on Saturday. Members of his fan club Adonis International as well as Korean and Japanese fans handed him flowers and gifts. Adonis International, known for its charity activities, also gave him a certificate of donation.

Will Rain be able to save his Hollywood career?

An Asia up and rising star has been given a second chance in Hollywood despite the fallback of his first attempt in movie Speed Racer.

Media film critics said they were impressed by Rain's professionalism when he puts down his status as an idol for Hollywood film Ninja Assassin and fully engage in filming, enduring fights and bruises on his face. The Korean singer's second Hollywood film was rated number 41 among the year's top 50 blockbusters by Times Online.

Despite being given the same simple and short lines for Ninja Assassin, Rain's character in this movie has a larger role to play then that in Speed Race. The last two years in Hollywood has not been smooth sailing for Rain; firstly Speed Racer did not do well at the box office, secondly, Rain had to face a court case from canceling his Hawaii concert two years ago; Ninja Assassin may be the chance for the unlucky actor to make some achievements.

Even if his movies do not sell and he does not make it as a Hollywood actor, his market value as endorser of products may be enough to see him through for a long period of time. Normally viewed as highly trade secret, Rain's commercial value was exposed by a giant advertising company recently. Standing at a value of $1.12million even in times of economy crisis, Rain is now the highest valued South Korean star, followed by Jang Dong Gun and Jo In-Sung at a value of about $900,000
