I keep telling people this and they're all like 'no it's nothing compared to 20xx year" and i'm like ok whatever, sometimes you need distance to appreciate something. I'm sure in five years they'll be like "2015 was a great year in k pop" :)

I feel like this year has been especially good for albums. Is not like the singles weren't impressive but a lot of the albums (minis included) had amazing songs and were really cohesive. But I have been only into kpop since 2011/2012 so it's not like I have a lot of years to compare.

omg same. Before this year all Kpop albums sounded the same and fillery and boring to me with only a couple standout tracks. But this year has killed it with the effort.

So many great new groups debuted this year like Oh my girl, Seventeen, Gfriend and Twice. I keep calling it The Year of the Super Rookies!

I usually don't check for brand new groups because they usually need a year before they impress me but so many groups this year were excellent right out of the gate! Especially Seventeen with Adore U (someone described Adore U as "lightening in a jar" and it's the most apt description i've seen) and Twice with Ooh Ahh which immediately became my JAM. And Playback debut song was so catchy too and deserves more love!
Even the groups that didn't grab me with their debut single managed to get me with the second like Me Gustas Tu by Gfriend and Closer by Oh My Girl
Now I'm gonna be that person checking out all the nugu debut posts because I have been enlightened to the power of rookies! Who knew they could be so impressive? I hope next year is as good as this year!
