KQ Entertainment has released a statement following allegations that a song from “My Teen Girl” plagiarized ATEEZ’s song “Wave.”
“My Teen Girl” is an MBC audition program in a classroom format aimed at debuting a new girl group. It aired its finale live on February 27, where the debut lineup and the group’s name were revealed. During the finale, the contestants performed original songs that were written for the show. However, one of the songs, “SUN,” which (G)I-DLE’s Jeon Soyeon, who is a mentor on the show, composed for the contestants, became controversial for its similar chorus to ATEEZ’s “Wave,” which was released in 2019.
