what i always really love about these type of shows in korea is that they present themselves as super intense and serious but that the beginning of this show was just everyone entering and being confused where to sit lmao

it's fun to see how these type of stages are prepared too

i'm mostly living for btob self-dragging themselves constantly and i am enjoying mr minhyuk as a view. the interactions between the groups is also cute to see, sf9 and btob seem to be pretty close (it almost felt like btob were sf9's fanboys with rowoon as their leader lol) and the z groups as well. sf9 giving the to stray kidz was a cute touch

in terms of performance: btob obviously stands out with a demure performance displaying their vocals. i liked it the most.
ateez: just really not my style so i find it difficult to comment on, but the ending pose was impressive. i was missing vocals though
sf9: i'm obv watching this show for this group and i thought they did ok, but they're obviously nervous. i thought they balanced singing/dance well enough, but i'm hoping they'll go beyond their visuals but still staying close to their style and not falling into the trap of too many gimmicks
stray kidz: so many props!!! liked the vocals at the end.
the boyz: i liked the different styles of dance/performance they've shown, but together with ateez and stray kidz i kind of worry for the amount of stunts they're doing and under what kind of supervision.
ikon: everyone getting so excited over ikon just proves to me that korean men have no taste in music.. this performance suited a music show better

for the rest... i understand why this show has so little viewers because it's pretty boring if you're not invested into any of these idol groups (and even if you are).

I’m not watching this so I can’t contribute that much but it’s amusing to me seeing how the end of the year show was such a sausage fest with so much focus on boy groups and now this show sounds like the total amount of viewers is low

the show is called kingdom but maybe 2/6 groups are actually really popular with the general public as idols — they don't have groups like bts or seventeen to bring in the viewers... in that sense it's different from award shows i think. that plus one of the show's hosts getting into a scandal and a member of one of the participating groups also not participating because of a bullying scandal might also not help.

disclaimer that i am not an expert on korean boy groups! i lived on a bts island for super long with regards to boy groups

Thank God there's BtoB on this show, all the others seemed too nervous or were just plain boring. And also thank you Minhyuk for looking so pretty all the time.

It was a bit lame that this was the episode 0 again. I thjnk I ended up liking Stray Kids the most out of these ones. And I deninetly liked iKon the least, I uope they're last.

I think a lot of melodies/btob fans (including myself) were initially hesitant about their participation in this show, but I think it's been proving to be a great opportunity and right timing for them to showcase a career retrospective not only to the general public but to kpop fans 9 years after their debut. They don't really appear on a lot of idol-focused shows as a group nowadays, and mostly show up only on singing variety shows as individuals (and usually get paid dust at the gayos). Since they tend to stay in their own lane, I think it gets forgotten that it took 3 years for them to establish their sound/niche and be taken more seriously, and about 5 years to finally be more respected in the industry and by the Korean public (to an extent). It's nice to see their perspectives and advice as seniors, especially since their unique career trajectory probably serves as a blueprint for nugu boy groups who don't hit it big right away. Seeing them (esp Eunkwang) interact with and be gassed up by their juniors has been fun lol. There needs to be more entertaining interactive moments on the show.

i already commenting most of my thoughts in the other post so i'll concentrate on the groups i didnt already like going into this show

btob are endearing themselves to me so much
since one of the first kingdom posts i've been discovering their music within the last month and found loads of gems but their personalities are coming across really well on the show too i'm really liking them.

i wish i could like the boyz because whoever their stage director is is consistently great and theyre good performers who pull it off but their music is so eh to me i watched all of rtk and never felt the need to get into them i feel like kingdom won't change that either i will just accept that my interest begins and ends at thinking sangyeon is hot

hoping ikon really do end up 6th and they realise they need to do something more/different like they don't appeal to me but they didn't even make use of the more relaxed style of performing other people seem to like them for and caved in to the dance routine structure others have set up during rtk they should play to their to their strengths

As someone who watched purely for SF9 and BTOB to some extent (they're hilarious and I can count on them to bring the mood up anywhere), I mentally tapped out after SF9's performance ^^;; luckily my siblings had a better attention span than I do so they were very generous when pointing out SF9's screentime (which isn't a lot, is someone at mnet bitter because they accepted so late)

Also it's a testament to how much Produce I've seen that I now have names for certain edits they do because it reminds me of certain arc from different episodes lol

Everyone did good, and hopefully each group comes up with performances they are satisfied with.

Okay~ this is just a general observation, I think all the groups did well, it's just that I don't trust mnet to not stir some drama or incite fans to stir said drama for them lol.

They have the cocky edit, where they show someone being uber confident about their performance-- it's usually followed by a not very favorable result, or at least the person who was confident not doing as well as they hoped. They have the struggling edit, where they show someone worrying about their performance since they didn't do too well in either a rehearsal or previous stage (this is sometimes prolonged depending on who it's being given to) -- this one is usually followed by a good performance, and more people check them out. They also have the mean face edit-- someone not giving reaction or having a straight face seems like they don't like the performance.

These are the ones that came to mind while watching, but who knows, maybe this show will surprise me by the next episode--

it's unfortunate that mnet always wants to stir up some shit between groups when it's obvious that most of the groups know and like each other — this is why the name legendary war just doesn't work for me

After all the amazing perfs the boyz gave on RTK, I was a little underwhelmed by them here... I really liked Stray Kids’, though, they brought in the kind of flare I love lol
I hope the interactions between all groups get more natural, they were not really that interesting.
And Ikon is the most boring group I’ve ever seen... To each their own, I guess, but I can’t understand how the heck they got so popular in the first place other than the YG power behind them
