[OMONA DISCUSSION] What's the best age to debut and when are you too old?

Today, I read the following article on Netizenbuzz about Chanmi (from PD101). Some netizens talked about her age and that she's already too old to debut in a K-pop group. I just couldn't stop thinking about this topic. In K-pop, it seems perfectly fine to debut kids that are still in middle school or that just entered high school (for example, Taemin debuted at 14, or look at Somi, she's 15). These kids are still in puberty, are still growing up. Isn't it wrong to throw them into the entertainment industry at such a young age? Isn't it better to debut idols when they're in their early or middle 20s, after graduating school and experiencing a "normal" childhood? What's so wrong about idols that are almost 30?

I thought that here at Omona we could discuss this (and other topics) in weekly/monthly OMONA DISCUSSION posts. I'd love to hear your opinions about this topic, and if you would have debuted at such a young age. Do you feel bad for idols that have to face critism and hate from netizens while still being kids?

You can add B1A4's Shinwoo to the list of idols who have made their appearance on king of masked singer now. Before he revealed himself the panel kept saying that they don't think he's an idol, rather an actor who knows how to dance (lmao). Shin Bongsun commented after Shinwoo did the scorpion dance that he "looked like he fell and was trying to get up"(that it didn't look professional), making him do it again.

I've seen people joke about how they'd watch their faves read a newspaper for hours and still be entertained.. I think I finally realized they aren't joking. Because I would too with Myungsoo lol. God he's so gorgeous I could barely deal with his vlive.

I haven't watched Dongwoo's cuz it's sooo long but I'm def watching later tonight! From what I've seen around he was a complete ray of sunshine as usual, and a sasaeng? fan called him mid vlive.

And the group one was so cute and I got some cute DongSoo so I'm on cloud 9.

Dating rumors about G-Dragon and Japanese actress and model Nana Komatsu have resurfaced, after photos were released from G-Dragon’s private Instagram account @peaceminusone, which has since been deleted.

On one of the photos, which show G-Dragon and Nana Komatsu having dinner together, BIGBANG member Taeyang commented, “Let’s write a song. It’ll be called ‘Lovers.’” Another photo shows a woman with her back to the camera — speculated as Nana Komatsu — sitting on G-Dragon’s lap.

In response to the news, a source from YG Entertainment said to Donga.com, “The situation needs to be confirmed, but it’s standard for YG to not respond to each and every one of these rumors,” suggesting that there will be no official statement.

In a different statement to Sports Daily, a source said, “It’s the artist’s private life, so we have nothing to say.”

Earlier in May of this year, G-Dragon and Nana Komatsu were reportedly spotted on a date.
