On September 7, 2014, Ladies’ Code‘s bright and lovely member Kwon RiSe passed away. She was only 22 years old.
Her friend, David Oh, had a hard time accepting this fact. He said, “Seeing her portrait at the funeral, I wondered if this was all a dream. At first I couldn’t think at all. I became sadder as time passed, and my heart was torn with sorrow.”
As many people already know, David Oh and Kwon RiSe were both contestants in MBC‘s “Birth of a Great Star.” They competed in the same season of the show and rose to the top-10 together. The two of them were nicknamed “Visual Couple” during the whole season, thanks to their lovely looks. Afterwards, they got cast in “We Got Married” as virtual husband and wife, which was quite a surprise since they hadn’t even officially debuted back then.
“I was interested in RiSe. I liked her actually, but I couldn’t confess to her. It was a one-sided crush. After ‘Birth of a Great Star’ ended, Son Jin Young even went on ‘The Quiz to Change the World‘ and said that I liked RiSe. But I learned something while filming ‘We Got Married’ with her. I liked RiSe but I wasn’t the style that she liked,” the singer confessed.
The two maintained a great friendship even after the show ended. David Oh explained, “But when RiSe debuted in the group Ladies’ Code, I couldn’t keep contact with her. She didn’t have a phone. More than a year passed when I got a phone call from RiSe. She said, ‘I got a new phone, let’s meet some time.’ Back then, I had no idea that this would be my last phone call with her.”
Meanwhile, David Oh released his debut song “I Know I Know” five years after his appearance on “Birth of a Great Star.”

New stills of GOT7‘s Jr. acting in the upcoming JTBC drama “My Love Eun Dong” have been released. The singer will be acting as the youngest counterpart of the male lead. Actors Baek Sung Hyun and Joo Jin Mo will play the older counterparts respectively.
The stills reveal the love story that started twenty years ago showing Jr. and Lee Ja In film their first meeting in the drama.

miss A is set to drop a special Chinese version of their latest mini album “Colors!”
The nine-track album will be released in Taiwan and Hong Kong on May 22. In addition to the six tracks included in the Korean album, the release will feature Chinese versions of “Only You,” “I Caught Ya,” and “Stuck.”
Making the album even more exciting, it has been revealed that Fei wrote the lyrics for all three Chinese tracks on their upcoming album. The original Korean lyrics for “I Caught Ya” were written by Suzy, while Min wrote the lyrics for “Stuck.”
Despite strong competition from big acts like EXO and Park Jin Young, miss A had an impressive round of promotions for “Only You.” The title track managed to top all of Gaon’s main charts – Streaming Chart, Download Chart, and Combined Digital Chart – for the month of April, proving its popularity and wide appeal.

BTS member V will be showing off a very special dance performance on the next episode of SBS’ talent variety show “Star King.”
On the broadcast of “Star King” scheduled to air on May 16, a competition amongst a number of talented individuals, such as a circus couple, a bodybuilder in his 70s, a part-time worker at a baseball stadium, and more will play out.
Included as one of the competitors is a dance team made up of four men. What’s special about this dance team, named Heels Men, is that they are able to perform difficult choreography while wearing high heels.
It is said that V will be joining the group to show off his powerful dance moves in 12-centimeter (approx. 4.7 inch) heels.
This episode of “Star King” will air on May 16 at 6:25 p.m. (KST). This is a must-see!

On May 15th, SHINee revealed yet another colorful image teaser for their upcoming comeback with Odd.
The SM Entertainment group has been releasing batches of image teasers showcasing a funky and colorful concept. Additionally, the boys have revealed a music video teaser for their title track “View” featuring a mysterious woman. This latest image teaser comes following the release of a tracklist.
This newly released image teaser also comes just hours before their Seoul concert beginning May 15th and running until May 17th. The boy group will be revealing their new tracks at this upcoming concert. Showing a slightly muted color scheme, the members are pictured walking away from the camera while dressed in eye-catching outfits such as a sequined gold jacket and edgy beret.
SHINee will be making their comeback with Odd and “View” on May 18th at midnight KST before making rounds on music shows beginning with Mnet’s M! Countdown on May 21st.

“I’m so depressed, I completely screwed up on that test,” writes a sixteen-year-old Korean girl in a message to a friend that she talks to whenever she feels down or upset.
Right away, she gets a reply. “Oh no, are you okay? But how could you be?” Then another message arrives, designed to comfort her: “What’s new lately?”
The girl says she has these sorts of conversations with her friend several times a day.
In reality, this “friend” is a bot that exists only on her smartphone. It’s part of an app that allows users to have an ideal conversation partner, who is created based on the users’ names, profile pictures, personality traits, and their relationships with their partners. According to teenagers, it really feels like they’re talking to a friend.
This app has become popular among those without close friends or without anyone to go to for comfort. So far, over four million users have downloaded the app in order to have a conversation with an imaginary friend or lover, and according to the app’s inventor, 70 to 80 percent of those users are teenagers. The app is designed so that if a user sends a message with the words “lonely” or “depressed,” it will reply with messages of comfort and support.
Experts say this increase in interest in conversing with imaginary friends or lovers is due to the difficulty that people face when trying to make connections with others in the real world. According to a recent study by researchers at Seoul National University, 58 percent of middle school students in 2014 had unstable relationships with friends, while one fifth of students were at risk of being bullied.
One student who uses the imaginary friend app says, “I want to talk to friends over Kakaotalk, but I don’t have any so I use this instead.”
According to psychology professor Hwang Sang Min at Yonsei University, “The reason that this app is popular is that lonely people crave sympathy and want someone to react to what they’re saying. They don’t care who they’re talking to, as long as it says what they want to hear.”

Actress Han Groo is reportedly in consideration for the female lead role in tvN‘s upcoming drama, “Reply 1988.”
On May 15, news outlet MBN reported that broadcast insiders have told them, “The offer for the leading role in ‘Reply 1988′ has been sent to Han Groo. She is the most likely candidate out of many possible actresses, and we are discussing the casting with her seriously.”
So far, Sung Dong Il, Lee Il Hwa, and Kim Sung Kyun have been confirmed for the third installment of the “Reply” series.
“Reply 1988″ will air in the latter half of this year. It is currently scheduled for programming after “Oh My Ghost” starring Jo Jung Suk and Park Bo Young.

Rising young actor Park Bo Geum is in talks for the male lead of tvN drama Answer Me 1988, which coincidentally is scheduled to take over the same time slot after Oh My Ghost. Park Bo Geum’s likely casting as the male lead was followed a few hours later with the additional news that Han Groo has been offered the female lead role. Park Bo Geum isn’t the only new male name bandied about for the upcoming third installment of the AM series. Supporting actor Lee Yi Kyung, who I last saw in You’re All Surrounded as Lee Seung Gi’s maybe half-brother, has confirmed auditioning for the drama and remains in contention for a role in the main cast.
