I just saw this on TV. I didn't even know that Gangnam Style has hit Egypt yet but apparently this has been out for a while.

And if people were debating if Gangnam Style was cynical or not, I tell you people THIS is cynicism in it's best way. I love it.

GOV'T Agencies Splash Out on Celebrity Promoters

Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi has been paid W572 million since 2010 for promoting the lottery for the Ministry of Strategy and Finance (US$1=W1,093). Boy group Super Junior was paid W380 million since March 2010 by the Ministry for Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries to promote Korean cuisine around the world. 

Over the last four years, 41 out of 62 government agencies that hired entertainers as honorary ambassadors spent hundreds of millions to billions of won in modeling fees and other expenses. The 41 government agencies spent more than W6 billion over that period.

Saenuri Party lawmaker Lee No-keun of the National Assembly's Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs Committee on Wednesday unveiled records of government spending on employing celebrities as so-called honorary ambassadors.

The records show that six other entertainers were paid more than W300 million each in taxpayers' money, including singer Kim Jang-hoon (W375 million from the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and Statistics Korea), and girl band Wonder Girls (W372 million from the Agriculture Ministry).

Group B1A4 has met with a happy occasion. After making a fancy comeback with new song ‘Tried to Walk’, today is also leader Jinyoung’s 22nd birthday. Born 18 November 1991.

Despite not being able to have a comfortable birthday party due to the overlap with their comeback week, Jinyoung gave his distinctive smile and commented that “I’m happy to be able to spend it with fans”.

Lee Hi to release new single on November 22nd

YG Entertainment announced on November 18th that ”monster rookie” Lee Hi will be releasing a new single to follow up her successful debut track “1, 2, 3, 4” on November 22nd.

YG’s CEO Yang Hyun Suk surprised even insiders at YG by sending them a text message about the new single. According to insiders, there had been no plans for a music video for the new single, nor had their been any discussion with online music charts pertaining to the newly scheduled release.

Lee Hi’s debut single “1, 2, 3, 4″ has been maintaining its high ranking on various online charts, staying strong weeks after her debut, which is unusual for many artists, let alone a rookie. This new project, which has surprised even YG insiders, is drawing in much curiosity and attention.

Lee Hi is the first rookie YG has had since 2NE1 in 2009, and CEO Yang Hyun Suk has been paying attention to each and every detail of her debut. It was revealed that he personally creates and manages the details of her schedule. An insider with YG revealed, “Considering that CEO Yang Hyun Suk kept his romantic relationship with one of his singers, Lee Eun Joo, for 9 years until they were married a secret, this surprise release seems reasonable.”

Many are curious to see how successful this new single will be, especially in comparison to “1, 2, 3, 4″, as well as the transformations Lee Hi might undergo for the new track.
