In a recent interview, CL expressed her feelings on why K-Pop artists have popularity overseas:

Why do you think foreigners like 2NE1 & Kpop?

“The passion for music that Korea has cannot be easily found anywhere else. As compared to singers in Japan and USA, our (Korean) singers are more passionate. 2NE1 has been mixing eastern and western genres of music. The trot melody (that I Love You has) is one of those efforts.” (CL)

Man, the worst is when people who thrive due to sheer hype start to buy into their own hype and believe the shit that’s being spewed.

It’s like being a drug dealer and using your own shit. You’ve jumped the shark after that, you know?

Pro-Tip: When you’re an underdog, people tend to root for you. When you’re an underdog and you act like you already run shit, people laugh at you for being delusionally entitled.

Seol Hyun from F.T. Island’s “Severely” MV confirmed to be a member of FNC’s new girl group

With the news of FNC Entertainment preparing to debut its first girl group, the mysterious girl who was in F.T. Island‘s MV for “Severely” is receiving attention, once again.

The girl, who’s name is Seol Hyun, was nicknamed ‘Lee Hong Ki‘s girl’ due to her lead role as Lee Hong Ki’s love interest in the MV. With her tall height and beautiful looks, Seol Hyun is said to be a former model for school uniforms and a popular ulzzang.

FNC Entertainment confirmed Seol Hyun as an upcoming member stating, “It’s true that Seol Hyun is one of the members for the girl group. We’re planning on opening an official teaser website on July 13th at 2PM (KST), so please anticipate it.”

The Visit Korea Committee (chairman Shin Dong Bin) released a star ranking chart based off of which artists participants chose to cover for the ‘Visit Korea’s Yearly K-Pop Cover Dance Festival‘ from April 26th to July 10th. The videos were analyzed and this ranking was done by how many participants from each continent covered a certain artist.

Yenny reveals her argument with Yubin on 'Strong Heart'

On the July 10th episode of SBS ‘Strong Heart‘, Yenny began, “When we receive songs by producer J.Y. Park, the members rehearse them really well. But when it comes to songs that I write, there are times the members don’t even really know the melody and it hurts my feelings.”

“The rap portion of a song I wrote was completed at the very end,” she continued. “So I personally worked on it- but it was hard because Yubin unni and I have very different styles when it comes to rapping.”

“We are both members of the group, and us trying to both play the role of the director inevitably caused some weird tension,” she added. “Sohee and Lim are younger than I am so they usually go with the flow, but there was some tension when it came to Sunye and Yubin.”

She continued, “When we began Yubin unni’s rap portion, the style was so different that we had to re-record several times. She even cut me off, so eventually I exploded and asked her to step outside.”

“While in conversation, Yubin unni began to cry and couldn’t even speak, so we had to postpone the recording session,” Yenny explained. “We recorded the portion the next day, and Yubin rehearsed it extremely well so we got it in one shot.”

Victoria and Gyuri Talk About Past Disbandment Rumors on 'Come to Play'

f(x)‘s leader Victoria and Kara‘s leader Park Gyu Ri, both spoke about the different rumors involving disbandment and members leaving in the past on an episode of “Come To Play.”

Victoria opened up about the rumors of Amber leaving the group on the episode of “Come To Play” that aired on July 9. This particular episode was titled, “The Battle of the Girls” special.

Victoria admitted that it was very hard for her and the group when rumors of Amber‘s leaving were being circulated. In 2010, f(x) was promoting “Nu ABO” and at the time, Amber hurt her ankle. Amber took some time off to see her family in America but even without the group’s knowledge, numerous articles were published on the next day, containing these false rumors.

Victoria shared how the whole experience made the group stronger and how she and the group were determined to become better after Amber’s return, showing excellent leadership qualities.

SK/JPN Tensions Rise, Man Rams Truck Through JPN Embassy Gate

Japan has filed a formal diplomatic protest with South Korea after a man rammed his truck against the gate of its embassy in Seoul.

The South Korean driver, who was later detained, reportedly told police he was protesting against Japan's claims to islands controlled by South Korea.

Japan's embassy has been a focal point for protests on long-standing disputes between the two countries.

South Korea has said it regrets the latest incident.

The islands, called Dokdo in Korean and Takeshima in Japanese, are claimed by both but controlled by South Korea.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, damaged the gate of the embassy but did not hurt anyone.

Actor Gong Yoo has been chose as the #1 male celebrity that housewives want to go on a vacation with.

A survey was conducted on 551 housewives for marketing purposes. The housewives were asked, “Which celebrity would you like to go on vacation with?”

The survey results showed that Gong Yoo came in first place with 13.2% of the votes. Following Gong Yoo came Yoo Jae Suk with 10.3% and Lee Seung Gi with 7.8% of the votes. Gong Yoo’s rugged good looks and his current image as a playful man-child in his current drama, “Big” probably subjected to these results.

53.5% of the housewives answered that they were willing to spend 300-500 USD per person. Also, 40.4% of the housewives said that they were planning on a minimum of 3 nights and 4 days for their next summer vacation.

RIP Inkigayo's Take 7 & Mutizen Song Award

SBS‘s 'Inkigayo' has decided to abolish its rank and award system.

Beginning on July 15th, ‘Inkigayo’ will be removing its Take 7, where the seven of the most popular artists from that week are featured, and the Mutizen Song award.

A producer of the show explained to Newsen through a phone call stating, “We believe that rather than the ranking system, the most important thing is the genre K-Pop being recognized worldwide. Therefore, we have decided to abolish the system after much discussion. There’s really no meaning behind a ranking system. We have decided to undergo this change in hopes that viewers can just enjoy the music.”

“There are a lot of K-Pop stars in the music industry that have talent. We wanted to break free from the repetitive system, in which artists release new songs and perform, so we plan on redesiging our system by having the concept of more special stages . For viewers to enjoy the music, we will have more collaboration stages and much more.”

With ‘Inkigayo’ following MBC‘s ‘Music Core‘ of becoming an awardless program, KBS‘s ‘Music Bank‘ remains as the only music program from the three major broadcasting stations with the awarding system.
