Taeyeon from Girls Generation has become the new OST Queen. Taeyeon participated in MBC "The King 2Hearts" soundtrack, singing "Missing You Like Crazy." The song topped all major online music charts immediately after its release on March 28.

As of today (March 30), "Missing You Like Crazy" is still going strong. On several music charts, the song is still within the top three, following Busker Busker's newly released songs. On the online music websiteSoribada, "Missing You Like Crazy" is still at the top.

This is not Taeyeon's first experience of topping the charts with drama soundtracks. Previously, Taeyeon sang "Can You Here Me" for "Beethoven Virus" and "If" for "Hong Gil Dong." Both songs became very popular immediately after the release.

Taeyeon's "Missing You Like Crazy" was first revealed on March 28's episode of "The King 2Hearts." The song is a modern rock style ballad and is the heroine's theme song, representing Kim Hang Ah's (played by Ha Ji Won) feelings.

Novelist Bok Geo-il's lecture at Ewha Womans University is causing a stir with comments which students claim were sexist.

In a special lecture on March 21, the 66-year-old conservative culture critic said married women should be watched all the time because they are prone to have extramarital affairs.

"That's why women used to live in the husband's parents' home. Married life in the parents-in-law's house was a measure to preserve the husband's genes. A hard life in parents-in-law's home prevented women from turning their eyes away to other men and made them have sex only with their husbands," he said.

A bunch of bs. )

Korea will implement a new law this weekend in an effort to cope with an uptrend in the number of people taking their own lives, the health ministry said Friday.

The law on suicide prevention and creation of a "life-respecting culture" calls for the government to adopt a set of measures to ward off suicide attempts and help people who have attempted to kill themselves, according to the Ministry of Health and Welfare.

Under the law that takes effect on Saturday, the government will undertake a nationwide survey and set up a 24-hour emergency call service, which will be operated by the ministry's consultation call center. Suicide prevention centers will be established across the nation to take immediate action against suicide attempts and provide consultation and treatment for people at risk.

"The government will step up efforts to secure experts in the field and provide various support programs such as counseling, training and treatment for those who have attempted suicide," the ministry said.

The new law comes as the number of suicides has been increasing over the years. There were 21.8 suicide cases per 100,000 people in 2006, 26 in 2008 and 31.2 cases in 2010. Some 108,000 people are estimated to have attempted suicide over the past year. Korea has the highest suicide rate among the member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. (Yonhap)

Foreign Minister Kim Sung-hwan on Friday called on Japan to steer a new course of "desirable cooperative relations" amid diplomatic tensions stemming from Japan's colonial rule over Korea. Kim made the remarks during a meeting in Seoul with a group of Korean and Japanese university professors, who are involved in a joint government-funded project to explore new ideas to move bilateral relations forward.

"Minister Kim asked them to come up with many ideas as to how Korea and Japan can usher in a new era of desirable cooperative relations in the rapidly changing global environment," a senior ministry official said on the condition of anonymity.

The joint research team was formally launched in December last year, some two months after President Lee Myung-bak and Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda agreed to do so during a summit. The team is scheduled to submit a report on the future of bilateral relations to both governments in the first half of this year.

Many Koreans still harbor deep resentment toward Japan due to Tokyo's atrocities during World War II, when the Korean Peninsula was a Japanese colony.

Seoul has been calling for official bilateral negotiations to resolve a long-running grievance regarding aging Korean women who were forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II. Despite repeated demands from Seoul, Japan has been sticking to its previous position that all issues regarding the colonial rule were settled in a 1965 package compensation deal that the two countries reached while normalizing diplomatic relations. KARA‘s Goo Hara has gathered attention for her bad luck when it comes to selecting a good seating spot.

Recently on an online community board, a post titled “Even in Japan Goo Hara fails at seating selection” surfaced with the following photos.

The photos consisted of various captures of KARA’s past television appearances. In all of the photos, Hara’s face is blocked or covered by various logos and advertisement titles. Fans were especially amused at the fact that this bad luck applied not only during Korean broadcasts, but also in KARA’s Japanese television appearances.

Netizens who viewed the post commented, “This is an act of terror. They covered Hara’s beautiful face with a logo?” , “Try changing your seating order. I can’t believe this also happened in Japan!” and, “The fan who discovered this is something else. Try sitting in the center from now on!”

On yesterday’s episode of Mnet “The Beatles Code 2,” MC Kim Tae Won mistakenly asked Jay Park if he was part of 2PM, surprising everyone at the studio.

During the episode, he asked, “Aren’t you 2PM? Aren’t you part of the group?” Jay Park used to be the leader of 2PM, but left the group in 2009 due to controversy surrounding a post he made on his myspace account several years back.

Jay Park politely stated he was not, and Kim Tae Won further unnerved other guests and MCs by asking why not. Fellow MCs started to voice their complaints as Kim Tae Won treaded on the sensitive topic. Kim Tae Won replied, “I’m just trying to make him [Jay Park] less nervous.” However, Jay Park honestly responded, “A lot of things happened back then, and so I work alone now. Working solo, instead of being part of a group, has its advantages because I get to make music that I want to try.”

South Koreans aged under 18 have been banned from attending an upcoming concert by US pop diva Lady Gaga after it was rated unsuitable for younger audiences, according to organisers.

Lady Gaga will begin her third concert tour, "The Born This Way Ball", on April 27 at the Olympic Stadium in Seoul.

The show had an initial age rating of 12 and older but the Korea Media Rating Board, a state watchdog, has adjusted it upwards, said event organiser Hyundai Card.

"Our company will respect the board's decision and refund all ticketholders younger than 18," a Hyundai Card official told AFP, declining to be named. Some religious groups in South Korea have opposed the concert, saying Lady Gaga has advocated homosexuality and performed in an explicitly sexual manner.

"Our Christian community needs concerted action to stop young people from being infected with homosexuality and pornography," the Korean Association of Church Communication said in a statement.

Lady Gaga is expected to do 110 shows this year following on the success of her smash hit "Born This Way".

The eccentric star, who has a record number of almost 22 million followers on Twitter, will kick off her world tour in Seoul.

From there she will take her pop hits and extravagant costumes to Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, New Zealand and Australia, where she will stage six shows.

Cosmetics is the new obsession in Seoul, report says

South Koreans have taken to cosmetics with a vengeance, according to a report by the Seoul-based Samsung Economic Research Institute, with the market propelled by new dynamics including rising life expectancy and desire for wellness and anti-aging products delivered with new high-technology products and methods.

The market has been growing at a steady 10.4 percent annually, rising from W5.6 trillion (US$4.944 billion) in 2006 to nearly W9 trillion today, easily outstripping annual average retail sales growth of 6.1 percent in the same period. Even in 2009, when Korea’s economy shrank to GDP growth of only 0.3 percent, the cosmetics market zoomed upwards by 11.8 percent.

Cosmetics use has spread far beyond just women, to men, teenagers and even senior citizens, according to the report, written by Research Fellow Kang Chan-Koo. Skin care is the biggest growth driver, accounting for 48 percent of Korea’s total cosmetics market, and growing much faster than segments such as makeup and perfumes.

One Way members Peter and Young Sky formed their sub-unit D2O (Detour).

With brilliant singles like “Amanda” and “Woo Woo Woo“, the boys will now be releasing a single titled “Butterflies“, a song described as “hardcore R&B” due to the fact that the atmosphere of the music has soul and R&B influences. The track also has elements from rock in the vocals as well as a wide variety of instruments.

Though most of us are familiar with the experience of getting butterflies in our stomach when falling in love, the track “Butterflies” talks about how the return of a departed love can give you the wrong kind of butterflies.

The album will include another track titled “Secret“, and an English version of “Butterflies”, which were also composed by geniuses Peter and Young Sky. ’Secret’ is a smooth and sexy R&B track about the secrets people tend to keep in a relationship.

Slated for release early next week, ‘Butterflies’ will be available for purchase on iTunes and other major music websites.

Stay tuned to allkpop for the album release!

Yesterday, bouts of rumors claiming that f(x)‘s Amber and Rainbow’s Woori would be departing from their variety show, ‘Invincible Youth 2‘, turned up. Today, both members have confirmed the rumors to be true.

This sucks, man... I'm happy that f(x) is coming back and Rainbow is doing good in Japan but their departure from IY2 will further decrease it's rating 'cause let's be honest, almost everyone watches IY2 because of Amber. Oh well, at least there's still Sunny and Hyoyeon keeping the show alive.
