MANILA, Philippines — K-Pop star Sandara Park has admitted to some of her friends in local showbiz that she once went steady with her former screen partner, Hero Angeles.

Dara, as she is called in South Korea where she is a member of the all-female group 2NE1, was in Manila during the holidays for a week’s vacation.

While here, Dara stayed in the condominium of her best friend, Melissa Ricks.

JYJ fans have set out to open an internet broadcasting station specifically for JYJ.

Despite achieving tremendous results with their first worldwide album, “The Beginning“, fans have been unable to hear their favorite trio sing on live broadcasts (aside from a congratulatory performance on KBS’s “Drama Awards“).

Motivated by their frustration, fans stepped forward and began collecting donations for an “Exclusive JYJ Internet Broadcasting Station.” With March 3rd as its scheduled broadcast date, fans have secured a server and are currently hiring DJs, scriptwriters, web designers, and other necessary staff members.

One fan commented, “It will be done in the same style as ‘Radio 21.’ We’ve prepared a large server that will be able to handle a large influx of fans.“ Another fan added, “Through perseverance, we have prepared a broadcasting station for JYJ, who have been met with difficulties on preparing on public broadcasting networks. We promise to immerse ourselves in JYJ and their music all day long, and to create a hot response so that public networks are forced to request their appearances on their shows.”

A hiring message on the program’s board reads, “We’d like to alert everyone that there are people that have bought the necessary equipment with their own money. The station will be run as non-profit, and hired staff (even if they have a Harvard diploma) will not be paid. The members of JYJ will see this homepage (Wouldn’t they be curious?).”

At such welcoming news, JYJ fans commented, “If we need a miracle, we will create it. Fighting, JYJ and fans!,” “Can we donate, I want to help in any way I can,” and “This is a respectful act, you are creating miracles.”

Actor Oh Gun Woo passes away

It was reported that actor Oh Gun Woo, real name Oh Se Gyu (30) passed away on January 13th.

On the morning of the 13th, Oh Gun Woo was in Daegu, where he unfortunately lost his life from a car accident. His body was taken to Seoul Asan Medical Center in the afternoon.

A representative expressed, ‘The tragic accident is very hard on his family. They wish to quietly arrange for the funeral.‘

Oh Gun Woo debuted in 2003 with the drama ‘Love’s Scent‘, and appeared in dramas ‘Shin Don‘, ‘Empress Chun Chu‘, and movies such as ‘My Tutor Friend‘.

The funeral is scheduled for the 15th.

Beast's fanclub members, threat for Suju and 2PM

Beast recently emerged as a ‘hot’ male idol group. Beast’s official fan cafe member recently has surpassed 160000 people. In months, more than 20000 additional members is registered. And in the first half of the year, the member has reached 200000 people.

Beast now has the largest official fan cafe member, surpassed other male idol group such as Shinee (73000), MBLAQ (80000), and 2AM (60000). While the other group’s official fan cafe member show a downward trend, Beast official fan cafe shows a rapid multiplication.

Currently Beast’s official fan cafe circumstances is a threat for the nation’s top male groups, such as Super Junior (230000 in 천휘룡(Cheonhwiryong) and 190000 in 온새미로(Onsaemiro)), 2PM (200000), and Big Bang (240000).

The number of official fan cafe member is one of the gauges to measure their popularity. An expert in music industry explained that “Typically 10% members of the fan cafe will buy the album and attend their concerts.”

Beast’s first concert ticket last year was sold out immediately. Beast will held an encore concert in 18th and 19th February in Seoul Olympic Stadium.

Shinhwa’s Kim Dongwan, who completed his military service in December last year, has made his return to the variety show circuit after a hiatus of 2 years.

Kim Dongwan recorded an episode of tvN’s “Taxi” which will be broadcast on 13 Jan at 12 midnight, sharing some of his personal stories.

MC Lee Young-ja asked, “There were often rumors of you dating actresses, but were you really in a relationship with anyone?” To which Kim Dongwan candidly answered, “There were two”, drawing much attention for his reply.

He aroused more curiosity when he added, “Both are younger than me by a year, and both of them have already gotten married.”

He also talked about how his ideal type has changed before and after his military service. He said, “After I passed the age of 30, my interest in girls has decreased by half. Before my military service I liked girls whom everyone acknowledges to be pretty, like Song Hye Gyo. Now I like girls who are pretty only in my eyes.”

He added, “Just like what my manager says, I seem to like girls whose faces seem to have been rubbed over by an eraser. I like girls whose features are not too pronounced.”

He also talked about his difficult high school days when he had to stay in a rented basement room. “Back then, I even unashamedly took free rice that was meant for the needy. As the only son, since I was young I’ve decided that I must achieve success, for my mother who went through the hardship all by herself.”

Kim Dongwan also talked about how he nearly ended up making his debut in a mixed group together with Lee Hyori. During his high school years, he took part in more than 20 auditions to join showbiz, and at one particular company, he was preparing to debut as part of a mixed group with Lee Hyori and Lee Jihye. However, plans were called off after Lee Hyori got scouted by a big entertainment company.

On this episode, one of his peers from his time as a public service officer appeared on the show and talked about Kim Dongwan’s “nude dance incident”. Non-showbiz friends of Kim Dongwan also made appearances on the show and shared interesting stories from his time as a public service officer and his time in the high school band.

This episode will be aired on tvN at 12 midnight later.

All Of COEX in A Trance At DBSK's Fan Sign Event

DBSK successfully finished up their first sign event in commemoration of the release of their new album.

At 2pm on the 12th, DBSK had their sign event at Samsung Anycall GALAXY Zone in Seoul’s COEX. It’s the first sign event since the release of their new album and even though it was a weekday many people showed up.

Naturally, there were particularly a lot of fans participating in the sign event in front of the GALAXY Zone at the COEX. DBSK’s great popularity could be seen with the large number of fans arrived for the event after the announcement.

Since it has been a long time since DBSK has met with their fans, they carefully signed and greeted their fans one by one, they also showed their thanks. The fans who gathered to see them also showed their thanks and cheered loudly.

On the 12th, DBSK released their regular copy of “Why? (Keep Your Head Down)”, which included their new song “JOURNEY” that features SNSD’s Seohyun. They now plan on being active on music programs.

DSP Media & SM Entertainment respond to Japanese comic strip

Earlier, a Japanese comic strip made headlines on the news for its attacks on girl groups like KARA and SNSD, in an effort to damage the Hallyu wave. On January 13th, DSP Media and SM Entertainment released official statements regarding the issue.

Representatives of DSP Media stated, “The comic illustrates distorted and unconfirmed information as if it were the truth. First and foremost, the information is incorrect, and to depict Korean girl groups in such a negative and sexual manner is blatant defamation. We will be taking aggressive legal action on the matter.”

A reporter for Time magazine was driving through the Gobi Desert in Mongolia a few years ago when he got stuck in the sand. He walked to a yurt he spotted far off in the distance and asked for help. The owner of the yurt said, "I'm watching 'Jewel in the Palace' right now, but I'll help you in half an hour." The Korean soap opera about a court chef during the Chosun era was a hit in many countries. It recorded a 90 percent viewer rating in Iran. When I visited Tunisia two years ago, people would walk up to me in the street, shake my hand and say "'Jewel in the Palace' from Korea is the best!"

In northeast India, near the border with Burma, lies the mountainous province of Nagaland. It is a remote area two hours by plane and another two hours by jeep from Calcutta. But in 2008, a Korean music festival was held there. Nine people who passed a qualifying round stood in front of 10,000 spectators and sang Korean songs. When Korean pop singer Ilac took the stage, female fans screamed and cheered. And in Chile, there are more than 50 fan clubs dedicated to TVXQ, Girls' Generation and other K-pop bands.

Bae Yongjoon Hospitalized For Slipped Disk

On the 13th, Korean star Bae Yongjoon’s company announced that the actor has been hospitalized in Seoul since the 4th due to a slipped disk.

According to the same company, Bae Yongjoon started to get symptoms during the filming of the drama “The Story of the First King’s Four Gods”. His symptoms have gotten worse due to filming in the cold recently for a different drama. Looking towards recovery, he is currently not allowed to move his body and there is a high possibility of surgery as well.

This won’t have any effect on the drama he is currently filming since Bae Yongjoon has finished most of his scenes. Bae Yonjoon was hospitalized in 2007 due to injuries to his shoulder and head while filming “The Story of the First King’s Four Gods”. In August 2008 he had a shoulder operation done.

Shinhwa, Once a group, forever a group

These days group Shinhwa has re-emerged in the music industry once again. In fact the idol group has been in hiatus for a long time, their relationship is shown once again. Why, because of their timeless friendship and loyalty.

In particular, many idol groups members have desagreements at a early stage blaming each other which concludes in disbanding or just breaking up. However, Shinhwa's extraordinary loyalty has always attracted attention.

In 1998 6 people, Shin Hye Sung, Eric, Kim Dong Wan, Lee Min Woo, Jun Jin and Andy became Shinhwa with their first album titled "Solver" which fame emerged like a comet. 10 years later in the music industry they have done it all making them Hallyu stars becoming above comparison not only in South Korea but also in Japan.

In the 2000's Shinhwa members began their individual activities. Eric became an actor of great success, opening the road to a 2nd road of success with each one achieved. This time, each member is self-standing even with their own companies, wether is Shinhwa group activities or just individual they are always supporting each other whenever they are having a hard time, they have never let that string break.

Recently, Shinhwa members Eric and Kim Dong Wan were released from military service. First, Kim Dong Wan and Shin Hye Sung are currently under the same management company.

Also, Eric has also appeared on the junior group Teen Top MV in honor to fellow member Andy's friendship. Because of the 13 years of beautiful frienship he helped fellow member Andy.

Eric who has been in the industry for over 10 years in comparison with younger Teen Top members worked together for their upcoming MV. On the teaser, Eric black suit looking sophisticated and with a lot charisma has attracted a lot of attention. This MV is the way for Eric to protect his friendship with Andy. Andy is also under the same management as junior group Teen Top, Eric and Andy were both willing to help Teen Top.

Teen Top officials stated, " Eric, during the music video shooting gave directly to the member a lot of engouragement, despite the long hours and late shooting he trated them with a an extraordinary affection".

Meanwhile, Teen Top MV is expected to be released on January 13 on their official site, GOM TV, You Tube Channel, including Mellon, and other music sites, followed by their second single titled "TRANSFORM" and a full set of activities.

2 Different Versions of KARA's "Jumping" In Rekochoku's Ranking

Rekochoku released its January 13th Video Clip Daily Ranking and 2 different versions of KARA’s 2nd single “Jumping” were in the TOP5 at the same time.

The 2 versions are the “Jumping –au Smart Sports ver.-“ released on January 12th and the original version of “Jumping” released in November 2010. On the daily ranking the “Jumping –au smart Sports ver.-“ ranked 1st and the original “Jumping” ranked 5th.

The 1st place “Jumping –au Smart sports ver.-“ is the music video from the KDDI & Okinawa Cellular December 2010 campaign “au Smart Sports Run & Walk”. The 5 members of KARA appear in the music video as cheerleaders as well as wearing cute running wear.

DBSK has just resumed their activities and is releasing a new song after a long time. Singer Bae Dahae recently appeared on SBS' "1000 Songs Challenge" and fans have noticed that she looks similar to SHINee's maknae Lee Taemin.

In a still-shot taken by a hawk-eyed netizen, Bae Dahae's side profile is shown while singing a song. In particular, the eyes and noses of the two are almost the same. Netizens even altered the picture by drawing in Taemin's hairstyle and clothing, making Bae Dahae look even more similar to Taemin. Netizens have coined them the "BaeTae siblings" and commented "They really are similar", "Are Bae Dahae and Taemin the same person?" and "100% similar!"

Kara - “I’ll Write You A Letter” MV

Earlier today, KARA released the audio track for their featured remake of Lena Park’s “I’ll Write You A Letter” off producer Kim Hyung Suk’s “2011 Kim Hyung Suk With Friends Part. 1″ album.

On January 13th, the music video for the track was released. Although the members of KARA are not featured in the music video, the music video features the artwork of a sand artist by the name of Ji Soo. The sand art tells the story of a princess who writes a letter to her love asking him to save her from her tower. It’s a rather unique interpretation of the song, and it captures the sweet spirit of the song into a music video format.

Dara congratulates Thunder on MBLAQ's comeback.



MBLAQ had their comeback stagewith Cry and Stay on M!Countdown, and one of the people that cheered the boys on was Thunder's older sister Dara.

Dara had posted a cheer message for her little brother on her me2day before, but she went to visit their rehearsal stage just to cheer the boys on. M! Countdown's staff said, "Sandara Park suddenly came to our rehearsal with a bouquet to cheer Thunder on. She couldn't take her eyes off their stage. It was quite obvious how much she cared for him."
