From 'Gee' to 'Genie' they produced a two-in-a-row homerun. In trendy terms, SNSD is the bomb.

However, the girls' answers was of the unexpected.

"SNSD still has a long way to go. We still have much more to show you."

What more could they show us? SNSD rose above expectations. They did not just remain as a pretty girls' singing group, but they conducted a trend in song and fashion. Their first product was 'Gee.' The addicting song became a textbook answer for other vocal artists, and their primary coloured skinny jeans led a new fashion code on the streets.

Jewelry has a new MV out for their song Rally which features the rapper NassuN. The song was performed live earlier this year on M! Countdown. Rally is the theme song of the upcoming Mnet program Superstar K, the Korean equivalent of American Idol/Britain's Got Talent!

Jun Ji-hyun was invited by the Karl Lagerfeld himself to attend the Chanel Haute Couture show on July 7th in Paris. The 28 year old wore (of course) Chanel to the show and coverage for the August 2009 issue of Harpers Bazaar (Korea).

2NE1 ‘I Don’t Care’ up #1 on music charts

Title song ‘I Don’t Care’ off 2NE1’s first minialbum is #1 up on Mnet chart for the 2nd week of July (07/06 ~ 07/12).

This is the song’s first time #1 up the chart, clearing away competition from other girlgroups like So Nyeo Shi Dae and 4Minute, and they are also #1 up the download charts. And So Nyeo Shi Dae’s ‘Tell Me Your Wish’ is #2 on the chart and #4 on download chart.

Other songs from 2NE1’s first minialbum are also doing well on the chart, ‘Pretty Boy’, ‘In the Club’ and ‘Let’s Go Party’ are up on the top 40 charts. And ‘Fire’ is still doing great up on the chart for 10 weeks and is currently at #15.

Also group Big Bang’s ‘Gara Gara GO’ is #8 on the chart and #2 on the download chart. Coming back with their new album, Brown Eyed Girls’ title song ‘Candy Man’ is already doing well at #11 on chart even before their comeback performance. source

Today, with sales of 16,582 for this week, Tohoshinki's 28th single "Stand by U" ranked at #7. Combining the sales from the first week (182,068), the total sales for this single have reached 198,650, making it a possibility that this will be their first single to pass the 200,000 mark.

Tohoshinki's 4th album, "The Secret Code", which was released in April, sold 2,249 copies this week, ranking at #32.

SM just released Crystal's (the rumoured female SHINee) profile! They didn’t release it on their website or homepage. According to Lim, the group’s other manager, Soo Man planned to release it on the website on their debut, not on pre-debut.

Crystal's concept is said to be a mix of Hip Hop and Contemporary style.

Latest reports say that the group's debut has been postponed to mid-august. The girls will be releasing a full album called RUN IT with their title song Dunno, instead of a mini-album, which is odd for SM artists. There must be high expectations for a group that is prepared enough to release a full on album on debut, so I am eager to see what's in store for these girls.

Reigning girl group “Girls’ Generation” is ahead of the game, for now.


The local pop scene is sizzling with an array of girl groups, both old and new, and the competition is expected to heat up with each band presenting distinctive sounds, fashion and personalities.

Reigning Groups

Girls' Generation and the Wonder Girls have been the top girl groups for the past two years, but now their thrones are starting to look a bit shaky as new groups loaded with new tricks have appeared.

The nine-member Girls' Generation, of SM Entertainment, released their new album "Genie" in June, donning a marine and military style for their new look. They have been topping charts on Internet music Web sites and music programs aired on television.

Despite the success, the group's image has been smeared by several incidents: First there was the rumor regarding an album cover that depicted a Japanese fighter jet; then the discord between band members; seen from clips taken by fans during rehearsals; and finally a plagiarism dispute, an allegation which later turned out to be false.

Baby V.O.X 3rd generation to be a multinational 7-member group

Female group Baby V.O.X will transform as a multinational 7-member group.

The selected trainee members to the group Sori, JooYeon, KyungSook and TaeEun will be joined by 4 other members from Korea, Thailand, Japan and China; making the group a 7-member group.

With that, the group is currently in Thailand holding audition to find their Thai member from 18th July. They will then move on to China and Japan to hold auditions after that.

After finding their members, the group will start activities in the first half of next year.

30 Percent of South Korean College Students Seeking Cosmetic Surgery

Kim Yoo-mi, a 20-year-old student at a local junior college, is busier during her summer break than she was when school was in session. Part-timing at a convenience store in the morning and at a department store in the afternoon, she's working every minute of her vacation toward her very first nose job.

"It's hard sucks to work 12 hours a day, but getting my nose lifted is going to be completely worth it," said Kim, who blames her low nose bridge for low self-esteem.

With 700,000 won in savings, she has less than one month to make 1.5 million won to help pay for the surgical procedure that's expected to total about 2.5 million won.

If money allows, Kim says she even plans to have double eyelid surgery.

The college sophomore's open attitude toward cosmetic surgery isn't uncommon as it reflects the perspective of today's early 20-somethings.

In fact, more than 30 percent of 921 male and female university students said in a survey Tuesday that they plan to seek some kind of plastic surgery during their summer vacation.

As for Ilgoon, there's no real word on what he's doing or where he is, other than some picture of him modeling for some store.

Han Hyo-joo Set to Be Cast in KBS Drama

Han Hyo-joo, who shot to fame for her title role in "Brilliant Legacy," a weekend SBS drama, has been cast in a new KBS drama.

Han recently decided to star in the drama, tentatively named "Pursuing Servants," according to news reports.

KBS, However, denied the reports, saying Han's casting is still considered and not finalized.

The drama is about hunters keeping track of servants and set in the middle of the Joseon Kingdom. Harimao Pictures, the producer of the hit movie "Secret Couple," is to produce the drama that will be broadcast on KBS 2TV in October.

Han will appear as the daughter of servants who is loved by two men. Her starring role in the drama is drawing keen attention as she has emerged as a Cinderella of the Korean small screen because of her brilliant performance in "Brilliant Legacy" with singer and actor Lee Seung-gi.

Han, 22, affliated with Fantom Entertainment Group, made her debut in the sitcom "Nonstop 5."

Kang JiHye is a new singer who recently released her single album ‘Sweet Day’, and has sang a cover of 2NE1’s ‘I Don’t Care’ with her own style and voice. This video is currently one of the most popular video on various video sites with high amount of views to it.

And all I can say is Wilbur Pan (or Pan Shuai, as he’s known in Taiwan) is one lucky lad. After working with Lee Da Hae, he gets to take Miss Lee Hyori on the arm as she goes head-on with the lucrative Chinese market.

From that unforgettable melee in Shanghai back in May, where Hyori came out in tears, her management’s eureka bulbs came on. This opportunity in China links up the diva with a car company, and singer-actor Will Pan’s been brought in as collaboration on the upcoming campaign song and MV. As of July 14th, the newly minted automobile spokeswoman has reportedly welcomed Pan in S.Korea for recordings of the songs, which will offer both Chinese and Korean versions.

Are the Chinese going to be raving mad a second time around when Hyori descends on China? We’ll have to wait it out till August to see.

2NE1 speaks up truthfully about this whole issue of ‘war of girl-groups’ and also what they think of the other girl groups like So Nyeo Shi Dae and 4Minute.

They said in a recent interview, “We feel that the other groups have their own charms and specialties and we also get to learn from them in always working so hard. Instead of calling it ‘war of girl-groups’, it is more like all of us as females showing the ‘woman power’.”

They continued, “It would be good that 2NE1, So Nyeo Shi Dae, 4Minute will be able to capture fans’ heart through our cool performances on stage. It is because we are not standing in different places, but we are altogether in one place.”

“Our weakness is our group dancing. We are weak as a group dancing together after we have been into our individual training lifestyle for long. So Nyeo Shi Dae on the other hand are really good at group dancing and we are envious of that. There are many times when we are surprised at how synchronised their angles and lines are.”

They continued, “And for 4Minute, our thoughts are ‘they are really hardworking’ and ‘they put in much effort’. They encourage/stimulate us on.”

Member of After School Uee and actor Park Jae Jung, will be committed to each other as a new couple in MBC's Sunday night show We Got Married.

According to the agency officials, Uee and Jae Jung, have been getting positive response as they will appear as the 'virtual couple'.

An official stated, "With these two's commitment and following the concept of the show, they have completed the final build."
