Singer YounHa will release her 9th single album simultaneously in Korea and Japan.

Her 9th Japanese single ‘Girl’ will be released on 22nd July both in Korea and Japan online and offline. And this is the first time she is doing a release both in Korea and Japan. This is because she wants to be able focus on both Korea and Japan music markets. In this single, YounHa has done the lyrics to 2 songs, and also composed one of the songs inside, as a young singer songwriter.

In this album, the title song ‘Girl’ is a song which YounHa has worked with producer JIN with.

Koo Enjoying High Popularity in Taiwan

Koo Hye-sun, one of South Korea's top actresses, is enjoying a surge in popularity in Taiwan as a hallyu (Korean wave) star thanks to her starring role in the KBS-TV drama "Boys Over Flowers," which closed in March.

YG Entertainment, Koo's agency, said Friday that Koo is being wooed in Taiwan to appear in dramas and music videos.

Even before "Boys Over Flowers,"' Koo won fame in Taiwan as she starred in hit dramas such as "The King and I" and "Pure in Heart."

Koo received a warm welcome from Taiwanese fans during her visit last month.

Continuing their ‘trainee karma’, 2AM Jo Kwon and 4Minute HyunA go on a 1-day date!

The 2 had appeared on Mnet Madam B’s Saloon aired on 10th July and had showed off their good friendship with their fun day out in Seoul ShinSaDong.

Even though the 2 are from different companies now, they both had trained together as trainees. Jo Kwon, “I have been trainee together with HyunA for about 3-4 years, she is like a trainee dongsaeng. I get many emotions from seeing her comeback, she has so much confidence now. I hope to see her work hard in the future.”

‘Korea’s little brother’ Yoo SeungHo will be starring in upcoming group T-ara’s new MV ‘Lie’ amidst his busy schedule for filming.

It is known that T-ara’s debut song is called ‘Lie’ and Yoo SeungHo will be the main character starring in the MV.

Yoo Seung Ho said, “When I heard T-ara’s debut song ‘Lie’, I really liked it. I was shocked again to know that T-ara can sing so well.” It is set that T-ara and Yoo Seung Ho will come together for the MV filming for 4 days from mid-week next week.

He held an event where several fans were chosen to go to dinner with him and receive signed autographed CD's and more. In addition, he will hold his first fan-meeting and mini-concert on the 11th (tomorrow) at the Aqua Stadium Live Hall in Tokyo.


Popular artists like SHINee, 4minute, SNSD, Davichi, Koyote, Wax, Untouchable, Outsider, and K.Will have also chosen to show their support for Tae Goon's mini-concert and fan-meeting by making a video with support and cheering messages that will be shown on the 11th.

Apparently, G-Dragon, leader of Big Bang, is friends with Miss Korea (of 2009, as of yesterday), Kim Joo Ri! How do we know for sure? Well that’s all covered because YG Entertainment asked him while he was in Japan to confirm the rumor. And his answer was yes.

"While in Japan, G-Dragon was asked to see if he really was friends with her [Kim Joo Ri] and he said it was true. Nothing other than their friendship is confirmed. Due to their busy schedules, the two were not able to keep in close contact."

Certain things led the netizens to believe that they were in a relationship. Like in Big Bang’s first album, there was a Thanks To, Kim Joo Ri listed on there. And when Big Bang’s first album was released, she congratulated G-Dragon on his mini-hompy.

YG, “Se7en to end American advance? This is not true”

According to YGWorld.net: The contract with Red Queen Media ended recently and YG’s saying they ended everything peacefully.

YG cannot understand why Red Queen Media has stated . Also YG’s saying that they’ve never received an offer for Se7en to work with Justin Timberlake. Se7en is not planning on doing any activities in Korea this year either.

Also Red Queen Media failed to fulfill all the contract details; the contract term’s over so YG didn’t renew the contract.

There has been a post quoting Red Queen Media that Se7en will have no other American activities, criticising YG Entertainment on Se7en’s American advance posted up on Allkpop on 9th July.

YG Entertainment said, “We contacted Red Queen Media, and have confirmed that whatever was stated was not the official stand of the company. And also about Se7en working with Justin Timberlake, this is the first time we are hearing about it.”

The content to the post on Allkpop wrote:

Red Queen Media stated

“Things were looking great for Se7en. Johnny Wright was going to co-manage his career, we setup deals for Se7en to record a collaboration with Justin Timberlake. We even had Se7en scheduled to sing the national anthem live at an upcoming Dodgers game, as well as present an award at the BET Awards show.

It’s really disheartening, we really felt Se7en was the best candidate to represent Asians in the US. We truly believed he would’ve been the first to break through the US market, especially with all of the collaborations and events we had lined up. It’s unfortunate that YG Entertainment turned down all of these opportunities, but we are still hoping for the best and that they come to the realization of how important this is for Se7en’s career.”

YG also said, “Se7en has worked on preparing for the American advance for 2 years, there is no way he will stop his American advance now.”

YG has also stated that the reason for Se7en’s return to Korea a while back is to settle personal issues, and have nothing to do with this rumours going around.

YG has expressed their response to this rumour as being ‘absurd’. There also also rumours saying that with this event, there has been much friction between Red Queen Media and YG Entertainment.

PCs Become Next Target of Cyber Attack

The barrage of cyber attacks that targeted dozens of South Korean and U.S. Web sites took a new twist Friday as the malicious codes that broke into tens of thousands of local personal computers started wiping hard drives.

The Korea Communications Commission (KCC), the nation's telecom regulator, said more than 350 computers were reported damaged as of Friday, but warned that the number could quickly rise since up to 50,000 have been contaminated by the latest wave of cyber attacks.

Leading virus vaccine provider AhnLab and the KCC said affected computers will not be able to boot up and their files saved on their hard disk drives will be destroyed.

"It is crucial that computer owners download vaccine programs as a protective measure, even if their computers haven't been infected," said Park Chul-soon, a KCC official, who downplayed the possibility of another round of intrusions following the three-day long attack.

Three dozen local Web sites, including those of Cheong Wa Dae, the National Assembly, the Ministry of National Defense, leading online shopping mall Auction, and top Internet portals Daum and Naver, as well as Kookmin, Shinhan and Korea Exchange banks, have been knocked out by hackers, who have yet to be identified.

The country's spy agency said Friday attackers used IP addresses from 19 countries amid suspicions that North Korea had orchestrated the cyber outages. However, the culprit hasn't been pinpointed.

Kim Joo-ri, crowned Miss Korea 2009 Wednesday, has become the latest Internet phenomenon, garnering the most hits on the search engine Web site Naver and sparking a surge of fan-based communities.

Her Web site attracted more than 12,000 new visitors only a day after the pageant ended.

Fans are proclaiming Kim, a graduate of the Russian Bolshoi Ballet Academy, to be the perfect, overachieving daughter that all mothers wish they could claim as their own.

'Breathless' Reaps 13th Award in New York

Multiple award-winning film "Breathless" picked up yet another honor at the New York Asian Film Festival, Jin Jin Pictures announced Thursday. Director-actor-producer Yang Ik-june won the jury award for Best Debut Feature ― the film’s 13th award from 10 international film events.

"One of the festival’s real finds is the South Korean film 'Breathless,' a closely observed drama written, produced and co-directed by its star, the vividly talented Yang Ik-june," said The New York Times about the New York Asian Film Festival in its June 18 edition.

Breathless, based on a semi-autobiographical script by Yang, is about a victim of domestic violence who grows up to become an aggressive brute. But light shines brightest in darkness, and he rediscovers hope when he meets a high school girl (Kim Kkobbi) who is even more hardball than he is.

Korea to Become Most Aged Society in OECD in 2050

South Korea will become the most aged society among advanced economies in 2050, with nearly four out of every 10 Koreans being aged 65 or over due to low birthrates and the rapidly aging population.

The nation's population is expected to begin declining from 2018 and by 2050, there will be 6.41 million fewer people in the country than now.

According to the National Statistical Office (NSO) Friday, people over 65 years of age will account for 38.2 percent of Korea's population in 2050, making it the most aged society among the 30 member economies of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

The nation currently ranks 27th in the population-aging index among the OECD countries, with 11 percent of its population aged 65 or older. Japan tops the list with 22.6 percent, followed by Germany with 20.5 percent and Italy with 20.4 percent.

Police conclude late actress was forced to serve men by her agency

Police concluded Friday that a former talent agency chief assaulted, threatened and coerced a late actress, who committed suicide after accusing him of abusing her, to serve men at drinking parties as it turned the case over to the prosecution, according to Yonhap News.

Identified only by his surname of Kim, the 39-year-old suspect was arrested three days after being extradited from Japan on Monday. He had been hiding in Japan since December last year, prolonging his stay while attempting to flee to another country.

Jang Ja-yeon, 30, hanged herself at her house in Bundang, southern Seoul, on March 7, leaving a suicide note that accused her former agent of forcing her to attend drinking parties and to provide sexual favors to high-profile entertainment figures and journalists.

Kim Yu-na's fans fuming over upcoming ice show

South Korean figure skating sensation Kim Yu-na has been awkwardly caught in the middle of a row between zealous fans and the organizers of an upcoming ice show, according to Yonhap News.

Kim's admirers, who often equate her to a "fairy" or "queen," insist that the other skaters headlining at the event do not match up to her caliber.

The 18-year-old has become an icon since winning her country's first ever World Championship gold medal in March. Whatever she wears becomes a must-have for fashionistas, and whatever she advertises marks record sales growth.

Previous ice shows featuring Kim have drawn massive crowds here. One such event in April also featured Olympic gold medalist Shizuka Arakawa, former world champion Stephane Lambiel and current U.S. figure skating champion Jeremy Abbot.

Even stacked next to such stars, Kim was highlighted as the main attraction.

But the ice show at the center of the current uproar, which has played out in fiery postings on Internet message boards, has Kim sharing the spotlight with lesser-known talents. It is scheduled for Aug. 14-16 in Seoul.

Kim's agency, IB Sports, has been bombarded by calls demanding it upgrade the other performers and change the photograph on its official Web site to make it clear that Kim will be the headliner.

Korea tourism recruits bloggers

The Korea Tourism Organization is looking for 100 international bloggers who can cover the topic of Korean culture and travel. The application is open from Jun 15 to Aug. 31. The project is collaboration with the Voluntary Agency Network of Korea.

The event titled "Blog Korea! Visit Korea!" will review blogs on Korea written in a variety of foreign languages (English, Chinese, Japanese, German, French, Spanish and Russian) and choose the best 100 that show great interest in Korea as well as receive a high number of visitor "hits."

Top five bloggers will each receive $500 worth netbook, 10 runner-ups digital cameras while the remaining 80 bloggers, MP3 players. Top 30 bloggers will also be invited to a special camping trip in Korea in October.

The project will continue through next year, when KTO will select in May three bloggers who continue to show good performance on covering Korea and give out vacation package worth up to $10,000.

Singer K Will will be performing with fast speed rapper Outsider on MBC Music Core on 11th July.
K Will has been practising for about 10 days on Outsider’s recent hit ‘Alone’ and will be performing it with Outsider on Music Core. Recently, a video of K Will practising the fast speed rap with Outsider posted online was also the topic amongst netizens. And K Will can be seen practising his rap wherever he goes – in the waiting room and in his car.

The Brown Eyed Girls have released their fifth solo comeback teaser for another one of their old songs "My Style", this time featuring just the stunning quartet's Jo Miryo. Having used five out of seven tracks from their 2nd album, there is speculation that the girls will be releasing another two solo teasers for the last two tracks, "Hold the Line" and "Second" of their 2nd album.

While the fourth teaser included both Miryo and Narsha, this fifth teaser includes just Miryo with a few back shots of the rest of the girls. While we have seen most of this footage of Miryo in their Candy Man MV teaser, it never hurts to check out her pretty face again.

Singer IU will transform as a cute rocker.

Known for her cute, sassy and fresh image, their teenager girl will set out to win the hearts of her fans again with a brand new image.

She appeared on KBS Music Bank on 10th July performing the rock version of the song ‘You Know’ for the first time.

The rock version to the song has been one of the popular hits in her first album. This will be a new image and feeling IU will present after performing the title song ‘Boo’, a light dance song, after her debut.
