Music you may have missed in January!

Here in Omona a LOT of idol stuff gets posted and sometimes new music gets pushed by the wayside. Here comes a new feature highlighting all of the new music you may have missed! I combed through January and found several posts (re: if it wasn't posted, then it's not here) and music you should definitely check out. Without further ado, here they are:

new girl group mamamoo - don't be happy mv (feat bumkey)

Very soulful, jazzy with a bit of dance in the last minute. There have been two posts about them so far and it looks like a few people are awaiting their next move.

WAX - COIN LAUNDRY(NEVER LOVED) MV

Your standard ballad with a sad story. WAX herself is not a new artist; she started out as a lead vocalist in a band called Dog in 1998 and went solo in 2000. Graduated with a degree in postmodernism music at Kyung Hee University. Is kpop a postmodernist art? Discuss.

TWO SONG PLACE ( SONG EUN YI & FT ISLAND'S SEUNGHYUN) RELEASED 'AGE-HEIGHT' MV

If you're into parodies of kpop videos you might like this. The song itself tries to challenge men's ideal women types (young, fit, and pretty). Not really known if this new duo is gonna be a thing from now on but Song Eun Yi has said that she would like to try making it a long-term project after a 14 year break.

RUMBLE FISH - THE VIRULENT SONG (MV)

Catchy, sensual melody with a jazzy R&B flourish with a cool guitar solo in the middle. Choi Jin Yi's voice is silky smooth and has been compared to Edith Piaf, Shiina Ringo, and SHINee's Jonghyun according to an expert panel of Youtube commenters.

YOU MAKE ME FEEL BRAND NEW MV

It's like a nice, leisurely stroll into early 2000s hiphop. A collaboration between VERBALJINT, San E, Bumkey, Swings, Phantom, and Kanto with a sample of an old Motown song that nobody has used before! Bumkey has been on at least three of these joints so far, good for him.

ROYAL PIRATES ARE HERE!

It's nice to see Kim Moon Chul's vocals have improved since their Youtube cover band days, when they were gaining attention for covering Mirotic, Nobody, and Sorry Sorry back in 2009. This is their second digital single after officially debuting last year with Shout Out.

KANG GARY - ZOTTO MOLA M/V

Hypnotic trap-lite beat by Gizmo and a tight production by SIMO (if anyone can find other Gizmo beats please share!), video a little claustrophobic and jarring. Expert Youtube panels chimed in yet again and have concluded that he is rapping to Song Ji Hyo.

RAP MONSTER - MONTERLUDE

A very pleasant way to spend 1:41 of your time, making you wish it was another minute long. Rap Monster is from the group Bangtan Boys who seem to be getting some love from Omona. Awhile back they were dissed by a rapper named B Free for being idols that "put on makeup" and not "real hiphop artists."

PUER KIM - MANYO MAASH (MV)

Bit of a Motown, 60s pop feel and composed by legend Yoon Jongshin with lyrics by Puer Kim herself. It's nice to hear vocals as sweet as hers that don't sound like a put-on for aegyo purposes. Here's a few more of her stuff if you're interested in hearing more!

ZIA - Have You Ever Cried MV starring Hwayoung

Here's another one for all the ballad lovers out there. Looks like #JusticeForHwayoung has been achieved!

tasha dueling with tiger again in new "Turn It Up" MV

The rap verses are the only thing that saves this generic club beat. I was about to leave this off the list but I was compelled by Tasha's commanding presence.

I was really surprised when I listened to 'Monterlude',it's really good and I didnt know that Rap Monster can sing so sweet.

i don't really go outside of omona when it comes to korean music but i could try. all of the links are posts that were already made. i'm not going out of my way to ignore other music but this is specifically about certain music posts on omona that didn't really get a lot of attention.

korea =/= omona so it doesn't really matter if they're household names. i'm not trying to make a statement here, i'm just showing people stuff they may have missed
