Psy to perform and receive an award at the ‘American Music Awards’

It has been revealed that superstar Psy will receive an honorary “New Media Award” at the 40th annual American Music Awards on Sunday, November 18th.

People magazine reported on the 13th,

“He became an overnight sensation in the United States, and now the Korea-bred artist, also known as Park Jae-Sang, is being honored at the American Music Awards on Sunday. He will receive a trophy for his hit single – which has now racked up more than 717 million video clicks – during the Coca-Cola Red Carpet LIVE! at the 2012 AMAs pre-show. Psy will also perform his catchy tune during the show itself.”

This comes as Psy’s latest addition to his list of awards following his win for the ‘Best Music Video’ at the MTV EMAs held on the 11th. Psy also recently hinted at his next single while holding an interview with reporters at the MTV EMAs revealing, “The next single will have more English lyrics, and I will collaborate with a huge guest star.” When asked if it will be his labelmate Justin Bieber, he replied, “I can’t reveal who it is right now”, further increasing fans’ anticipation for his next single.

The AMAs will air on ABC this Sunday at 8PM and the pre-show will be streamed live on YouTube starting at 5PM EST.

i'm SO proud of him. all issues aside he deserves it.

the only thing that bugs the shit out of me about the success of gangnam style (as it pertains to PSY) is i feel like ppl have gotten it in his head that this is all he can do when he is REALLY a talented musician.
