T-ara Game

The "T-ara Game" is shocking and quickly spreading.

On the 16th, on one online community, a post was made with the title "Children are playing the 'T-ara Game' and copying their bullying."

The writer, who claims to be a normal 24-year old college student, said “My niece and her peer group are following T-ara’s bullying scandal and making a game out of it.” And explained how she came to write this post.

She said, “I went to my older sister’s house to hang out, but my niece, who is a 3rd year elementary student, was chatting on Kakao talk non-stop. I was curious so I took a look at her phone and was extremely surprised.”

Her niece’s Kakao talk chatting room said “Now since you’re the ‘outcast’, you have to do everything we tell you to.” “Yah! Are you crazy? You’re not replying? Wanna die?”, “You carry my bag tomorrow” and other such posts were contained.

The shocked writer asked her niece what she was doing and the niece replied, “We’re playing the T-ara game. Right now (her friend’s name) is the ‘outcast’.”

The writer then asked what the T-ara game was and her niece said, “You choose one person and make them an outcast like T-ara did.”

The post’s author asked “Who taught you this kind of game” and when questioned, the niece replied, “T-ara bullied Hwayoung, you know.”

People who have seen this post have replied as such: “To children there is nothing but idols…it is really a pity,” “I can’t believe this,” “It’s scary that an ‘outcast’ game has been created,” and other reactions could be seen on the message board.

What do you think of this "T-ara Game"?

This is horrible. Bullying is a serious matter. Their parents should explain to them that it isnt some kind of a game.

But kids have been "playing" this exact same game for years , where/how do they think T-ara learned how to "play"?

Yeah, seriously. O.o This is really nothing new or surprising. Just sad. Also totally not a 'South Koreans are so weird / disturbing!!!' thing for the most part. People are that fucked up everywhere in the world.

okay. I don't get how this works through phones(what?).. but I'm thinking

A: they don't understand the meaning of bullying and are just having fun
B: they get the meaning but use T-Ara whenever people catch them

kakao talk is a phone app that almost like chatting over a phone text, like a free texting app where you can have group texts and stuff, so its almost as if they're in a group chatroom over the phone, planning how they'll play out the game irl the next day or something

Apparently, SK has a ton of parenting issues... well, considering sasaengs exist and rather young people commit suicide due to bullying. Something is seriously wrong.

Well...I am literally speechless right now O___O

Bullying was already a serious matter, and now they're turning it into a game just because of the whole T-ara scandal?!! :O

Yup, it's all T-ara's fault. You know, children don't need parents when they have idols.

Sad, but NOTHING new, I am mumble mumble OLD, and I remember playing something like this back in primary school in the 70's!!!

Of course back then we didn't have phones, but we had a very efficient note passing system, and the outcome was the same.

Do I feel proud of how we behaved as kids, certainly not, but to say it's a new phenomenon is wrong, and it's world wide, it's always been world wide.

good point, but I think everyone is disturbed by the fact that they're now crediting it to an idol group. They now have an excuse because of celebrity bad behavior =/

sounds made up... not that the game is unlikely to exist but it sounds like a very convenient story...

If kids are now learning how to bully, based off of the T-ara scandal, I find that slightly more disturbing than if the kids were just using T-ara as an excuse...either way, I feel that T-ara should be involved in some solution; it'd be great if they just publicly denounced bullying but that's probably too risky.

lol at them blaming this on T-ARA but hopefully this makes the gov/parents/educational system try and take some sort of stand against this type of bullying. Even though it's ridiculous that it takes this kind of "exposure" but thanks once again pop culture for putting problems in the limelight.

We need some serious bullying education - not just in Korea, but all over the world. Kids need to be taught that this shit is unacceptable.

This sounds like a BS made-up story to try and put more hate on T-ara... I hate what T-ara did as much as the next guy, but come on now, you can't just believe everything that's written about them or involving them. This article especially has no credibility and it just sounds dumb overall.

And even if it is true, it's just one group of friends being stupid. It's not like T-ara is the cause of nation-wide bullying.
