its pop music. most of the rabid fans, are young girls but casual listeners and people who are familiar with it can be just about anybody. I dont think korea eats sleeps and breaths kpop but its a part of the culture the way. manga and anime are part of japanese culture ie plenty of people watch and read it casually but most people arent hardcore fans nor is it the be all and end all of japanese culture that weeaboos like to think it is. its not uncommon though for fangirls to be rude at group concerts tho and only pay attention to their idols and blatantly ignore everyone else tho (like taking bathroom breaks intentionally during those times etc).
