A post on Pinoy Kpop Journal is wondering why Korean girl groups do not promote much in the Philippines and this makes the fanboys "bored." But the interesting part lies on how the writer differentiates the fanboys from the fangirls.
The post is originally written in Filipino, which I voluntarily translated (mostly verbatim) to English:
Fanboys: More Bored in the Philippines
For the whole life a KPop fan, he or she has one mission in life: To see the KPop artists they idolize. Seeing their faces in person feels like heaven, even more if we get to see them up close or talk to them and hold their hands. Experiencing this makes us want to jump from the top of Dingdong Dantes' billboard because of so much joy.
But however in contrast, there is one thing I notice about the artists visiting here in the Philippines. Take a look on this list of KPop artists who visited our country:
1. SHINee (no Taemin)
2. 4minute
3. U-KISS (mall tour, concert, Rain's concert)
4. B2ST
5. One Way
6. Youngsaeng and Kyujong
7. Kim Hyun Joong (K-Pop meets P-Pop, Trinoma Fanmeet)
8. FT Island
9. ZE:A
10. 2NE1
11. Rain
12. Super Junior (Super Show 2, Super Show 3)
13. Jay Park (fanmeet, MTV Exit concert)
14. Block B
If you look at it carefully, out of the 14 KPop artists who went to the Philippines, only two of them are girl groups: 4Minute and 2NE1. Makes us wanna ask: "How about the fanboys?"
I remember when Rania was supposed to come here, but they just lack the support. Not only because they are rookies, let us also add the factor that they are girls and fangirls do not get their hormones raging because of them, am I right?
To be honest, perhaps this is the time of the guys to rise up because their joy of fandoming is being deprived to them. Why do the girls get all the fun? I remember the post of my fellow 4nia here in Facebook. I was really moved by his status message because I really felt his desire to see a girl group coming here to the Philippines:
"I wish a girl group would come to the Philippines next time. I know there are a lot of fangirls, but I hope the fanboys would be given an opportunity to spazz to Korean 'keypap' girls. This might be the end of me. HAHAHAHAHAHA! XD" - PJL
Seriously, this is 100% straight to the point. The number of Filipino fanboys might decrease and change their gender. We see them crowding with fangirls.
Kidding aside, I agree with this guy. I hope a girl group would arrive in the Philippines. The boys have been staring at their computers for so long. As Girls' Generation would say, "Bring the boys out," literally.
The girls have gotten all the joy they could get out of the many boy groups who have come here. I hope there will come a time for the fanboys to have fun and see the girl groups they idolize.
And let's admit it, unlike the fangirls who are too wild and prepared to touch their idol's faces and stalk them even in the comfort rooms, the fanboys just stand there and contented to just wave at the idols. Like the fangirls, the fanboys have shallow sources of joy. Even just a glance, we ask nothing more. WE ARE NOT LIKE OTHER FANS WHO PUSH OTHER IDOLS JUST TO HUG THEIR BIASES. We bring out our chivalry and willing to give up our lives just so our beloved artists do not get hurt.
May the fate bless us with the arrival of a girl group who would unite us all, because true joy should be given and shared to all.

I, for one, am a fan "guy" guilty of not buying tickets to the Rania concert. Ouchie.
ADDED: I swear there was an LJ Cut in the original submission. I don't know how it went poof. :(

I'm a girl and a couple of my friends (who are girls too) wanted to see Rania (and ofc see Dr Feel Good live lmao i know) but we saw the ticket prices they announced back then and it was pretty expensive for us (and considering how they're just rookies) so we decided not to get tickets.

Date: 2012-01-18 01:40 am (UTC)I'm reminded of my second-hand embarrassment at the dozens of ELF hating on SME or whoever else they can pin the blame on for the lack of SS4 in Manila. How dare SME, after all, to give Taiwan and it's strong Kpop market, 4 days, while Philippines have zero! I wonder if these fans have forgotten, or were they even aware, that Philippines wouldn't even have SS2 and SS3 if it weren't for PULP shelling a lot of money to begin with. We have a strong market, yes, but nowhere near as strong and dedicated as the ones I mentioned above.
Lastly, since when do posts from Pinoy Kpop Journal count as actual journalism? :/
Edited to add: And are those jibes to fangirls absolutely necessary? I've seen how fanboys (not just Filipino, but mostly Filipino) act around their biases and not all of them are saints.
