Korean groups perform at the United Cube Concert, in São Paulo. Beast, G.NA and 4Minute made the public scream and shout their main hits.
Regarding hip swinging/pelvis thrusting/booty shaking, the Korean style k-pop [sic] is breathtaking. More concerned in keeping synchrony and sensuality in the moves, the 4Minute girls, group that opened for the UCC festival, at Espaço das Américas, in São Paulo, this Tuesday (13th), even forgot to lip sync. The focus was, really, on the hips.
For more than 2 hours the public of 4000 people screamed the lyrics for almost all the songs - specially the songs sang by the boys from the group Beast. Surprised by such dedication, the boy band members - last to perform - did not hold back love confessions to the Brazilian people.

"We've done a lot of shows in a lot of places around the world. But it was here in Brazil that we found our place. It was worth it flying more than 30 hours for you", said Hyunseung, one of the six singers from the group, wrapped in a Brazilian flag.
As expressive and sexy as the 4Minute girls and the soloist G.NA, the youngsters sweat inside their leather outfits. They danced throughout 13 songs, showing off dance moves inspired by Michael Jackson. The result: the boys left the stage with teddy bears, flowers and gifts given by the audience.

Always speaking in Korean, all interactions with the public were translated with overdoses of enthusiasm. At the end of each sentence, the hysteria was general. When the soloist G.NA, the second act of the night, asked: "Am I the only single person here?", it was possible to notice that the male public was making itself present as well.
Hits festival.
Each group stayed on the stage for more than 30 minutes. The established hits "Huh", "I My Mine" [sic], and "Mirrror Mirror" [sic], from the 4Minute girls, kicked off the festival at Espaço das Américas.

From G.NA's setlist, the songs "Goodbye I'll be back" [sic] and "Top Girl" maintained the public engaged. However, it was under the sound of Beast that the house transformed into a pop-carnival.
"Are you ready to jump with us?", was the Korean way to incite the audience to get on the floor. It was hard to decide which song from the group received the biggest ovation.
...
Last part just talks about girls passing out of heat and exhaustion as usual; the story of two disabled twin sisters who traveled from far just to attend the show; and how in general people met kpop through the internet and korean dramas.

Translation:
Basically, the Brazilian press knows NOTHING and will compare anything to Michael Jackson and whatnot, because that's the only clue they have on pop music whatsoever. See how they compared 4minute to Lady Gaga and Rihanna in that other post... Anyway, the show was awesome!

Date: 2011-12-15 03:59 am (UTC)with that said lmao at soompi acting like the brazilian media actually really compared them with michael jackson and rihanna when it was just about the hysteria. they should have compared with justin bieber and the jonas brothers tbh, fits the public better. And shaking my head at phominute lip-synching and failing to do so, dude you are new in a country, fans who never thought they could see you live are there, at least try your best, we brazilians prefer bad live signing when the person is actually performing their all than lip-synching.

Date: 2011-12-15 05:20 am (UTC)I was hoping they were going to have Kikwang wheeling around in his wheelchair on stage. I know he can't dance, but to not let him come out on stage at all except for a few songs makes me feel bad for him and his Brazilian fans.
But I love how Yoseob gets him to smile in that vid. So adorable.

Date: 2011-12-15 10:11 am (UTC)I mean, I'm not a delusional 4minute stan, but it was not like people were like "WHOA LAME THEY'RE LIP SYNCING", the girls were interacting with the audience a lot during and in between the songs, and dancing hard, it didn't sound lazy or anything. And it's not like people were there expecting crystal clear vocals anyway, people know what they like. It's more about Brazilian media and culture in general having a taboo with anything "playback" (that's how people call lip syncing here) to be honest.
