A little while back, Orange Caramel recorded their follow-up track, “Still…“, and a staff member has just revealed another photo of member Nana fiddling around with the recording equipment in the studio.
The producer already revealed a video featuring the scene on January 29th, and followed up with another picture by writing, “The hidden secret of the ‘Still…’ video~ Nana and Raina are showing off the skills they learned in their free time.”
The members made the effort to learn how to handle the equipment, which led staff members to use the footage they took in the ‘Still…’ video.
Netizens commented, “She’s a goddess even while holding the camera,” “I like seeing new sides of Orange Caramel like this,” “I wonder which part Nana shot,” and “Now I want to go back and see the video.”

Mir really likes Nana, but AS let it drop during their episode on Mblaq Idol army that Nana kind of has a crush on SeungHo.
So he might be awkward because he knows Mir likes her, or he's shy as hell. ...Probably a bit of both.

Date: 2011-02-01 10:21 pm (UTC)I wouldn't go as far as saying Pledis is 'afraid' of losing Raina, as opposed to working with the roster of talent and nurture them to the best of their abilities - why wait, no time like the present. They strike me as the kind of company that really listens to their artists and the goals they themselves would like to achieve and then go for it.
I personally think it was smart of them to have her sing the solos, because she IS without a doubt the stronger voice from OC and then have the other two come in. There was a story about how G-Dragon was upset when he wrote Lies that YG vetoed it to Big Bang. At least this way, the original composer gets their spotlight and then shares with their members. I doubt she would've had this kind of arrangement elsewhere.
*THEORY* Kahi -I actually think has a stake in the company's profits (same with JungAh). So, to her, it doesn't really matter how much of the limelight she personally gets, so long as they are all moving towards the same direction. That, if she writes a song, it doesn't matter who sings it, how long, etc, but rather if they release it, that it's the best it can possibly be.
They were all signed as solo artists anyways and Pledis always seems to do things very very differently from other companies. I think the lack of resources/ opportunities because they're a really small company makes them have to really think outside of the box.

Date: 2011-02-02 04:30 am (UTC)I think what most people forget is that After School are a group of artists eventually going SOLO/ graduate - as in, they were signed as solo artists but are a part of the group. Since you are a fan, you may remember the Happy Together episode with Lizzy, Kahi and Dambi where one of the questions was, "Fold if you're a solo artist." and all 3 of them folded. For me, this makes the group as After School and Orange Caramel fundamentally different than how other groups are managed.
So, while I'm sure Raina had a conversation about her lack of enthusiasm for 'Magic Girl' - her having solo songs or pretty darn close to solos - I believe were always in the pipeline and didn't take much, if any persuasion needed. From a marketing perspective, let's face it, it would be hard for Raina to promote solo now, not because she can't do it, but because it's awkward when she's not w/ Orange Caramel or AS. Radio she can do fine by herself because she speaks well, but the camera unfortunately is rather unforgiving when she's on her own.
As for Lizzy and Nana, I get the feeling they're still trying to find some sort of footing as to where they want to go. Lizzy seems to be shamelessly grabbing any opportunity she gets (which I love her for) and Nana (when she's not making eyes for Seungho) really LOVES Kahi and seems to want to follow in her footsteps. Yes, Nana seems terrified of ballads, but only because lack of confidence/ experience.
The way I see it, Kahi knew she was going to have a solo project at some point so writing a promotional single or have a solo on a mini wasn't in high priority for her. Pushing After School as a group was. This meant, apart from herself, making all of the other members shine as brightly (and quickly) as possible.
