On the "Heroes" episode that aired on the 2nd, the members turned into one-day teachers for high school seniors and gave them a lecture. IU based her lecture on starting out in society as an adolescent.
She said, "I debuted when I was in my third year of middle school. I thought I'd do well, but I failed horribly and I even got cursed at. I thought if I sung, everyone would listen, but no one cared. Some people even told me to get lost on my debut stage. That was the first time I was disappointed in myself. It was a special album to me, but it completely flopped. I worried that the company wouldn't let me sing anymore, especially because I was bad at studying. I didn't care about an audience, I just wished I had a stage to sing on."
"A chance came only when I stopped being greedy. I went with a cute concept to match my age. 'Boo' had a mediocre success, so I thought I'd never be able to come out on variety shows but I'm a permanent member in Heroes, and I also don't lose on rankings. I'm a little surprised, but it feels good."
"When you're young, people look over a lot of things. But you can't be locked up in that. People are going to stop taking care of you because you're young. Once you take off your school uniform and enter society, people are going to stop accepting all you do."
What do you think of her advice?
