MC Mong Taken In For Police Questioning

MC Mong had a rough 13 hours recently, as he was held for police investigation regarding the allegations that he tried to dodge his mandatory military duties. He checked into a police criminal investigation center in Seoul at about 8 AM on August 19th with an accompanying lawyer, and wasn’t released until 8:50 PM that night. There were hordes of reporters awaiting him on his way out, although he simply ignored them and passed on through. It wasn’t just Mong that was in the hot seat as the entertainer’s manager was also taken in for questioning last week.

When asked about the details of Mong’s investigation, one related police officer replied that he wasn’t allowed to make any statements regarding the case.

The 31-year-old singer was exempt from his mandatory military service due to dental health issues. This legal mess arose over accusations earlier this year that Mong had some of his teeth unnecessarily removed to get out of serving his country. Mong’s representatives firmly stated that Mong was exempt for just reasons and that he did nothing that was against the law.

To all those wondering why he got exempted for "only" bad teeth, it's because the Korean government doesn't wanto to have to pay extra for the dental care/ the other side effects it could bring such as taking extra hours off training because you teeth hurt.

i didn't know dental issues could exempt one from the military but it might be because of health insurance in the military or something.
