On February 5, FNC Entertainment revealed that Inseong’s enlistment date has been set for March 21 and that he will be fulfilling his mandatory service as a member of the military band.
The agency also stated that they will make a separate announcement about Youngbin’s military enlistment once the date is confirmed.
FNC Entertainment’s full statement is as follows:
Hello, this is FNC Entertainment.
We are making an announcement regarding SF9’s Inseong’s military enlistment.
On March 21, after receiving basic military training at a training center, Inseong will be fulfilling his military duty as a member of the military band. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and minimize chaos, there will be no public event on the day of his enlistment.
In consideration of the fact that it will be an occasion shared with many other soldiers, fans are prohibited from attending, and we hope that you will refrain from doing so.
We are always grateful for the love that you send SF9’s Inseong, and we ask that the fans cheer him on until the day he successfully wraps up his military service and returns in good health.
As for Youngbin, as soon as his enlistment date is finalized, we will inform you through an announcement.

I wonder why they've never had any subunits for the more music-inclined members instead of all of them getting into acting (or musical acting) like they do now. For instance fellow 2016 debuter Astro now has 2 subunits.

Also, I don't really know how SF9 is going to move during enlistment era since FNC seems hell-bent on having them do more acting, which is a shame considering a lot of them seem like they'd like to pursue more music-related projects.

And with the change in CEO, this new one only really focuses on the business aspect and ends up pushing members towards projects that bring in the most money, which are acting projects. It sucks

Date: 2022-02-06 07:59 am (UTC)oh i mean that i don't think he would thrive well in a hypermasculine/toxic masculine environment like i imagine regular army divisions would be. in contrast to the majority of sf9, he hates working out and most people describe him as innocent/moodmaker/lighthearted, he usually embarrasses himself in order to pick up the mood for others and i can imagine that not always being well received/abused in environments with a lot of hierarchy/structure/competition

I know he and Kihyun are already friends but Changkyun is a lot shyer and you could see him warming up and opening up to Inseong in real time, it was so cute. He seems like a good egg with a good head on his shoulders, as tough as it is I bet he’ll find a way to thrive where he’s enlisted 🤧
