Flashback Friday
2021-06-04 02:53 pmHappy Friday! Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week we are going back to the see what was on top for the 1st week of June, 2014.
#3 IU “My Old Story”
This was the lead single from her A Flower Bookmark”, which was an EP made up of cover songs from the 1980s and 1990s. “My Old Story” was a cover of the song from Jo Dukbae. The album was both a critical and commercial success, and songs from the album would be on the charts for weeks.
#2 Junggigo “Want U”
This is still his biggest selling solo song, and his only solo song that would hit the top spot on the charts. It was the follow up to hugely popular song “Some”, which was released a few months prior. The song originally features Beenzino, but for most of the live stages he was joined by rapper Olltii.
#1 Fly To The Sky “You You You”
This was the lead single from the group’s album “Continuum”, their first release after 5 years. It was a very successful album, six out of the 10 songs on the album would chart. The album itself would peak at #4 too. The song is also still their biggest selling single.
Honorable Mentions
#4 Infinite “Last Romeo”
This was the lead single from there second full album, “Season 2”. An album repackage with two additional songs would be released a few months later. This Sweetune bop would peak in the top ten. The music video features an appearance from their labelmate Mijoo, a few months shy of her and Lovelyz’s debut.
#7 Jun Hyosung “Goodnight Kiss”
This was her solo debut. I was sooo obsessed with this song back then! And then I forgot it for a while and later rediscovered it and it ended up on Top Songs 2018 Spotify playlist lol. Both the song and the single album would chart in the top ten.
