If you feel so strongly that someone else should in the top 10, go play the Billboard game. It applies to EVERY artist on that top 10. Not just BTS. So go stream your Disney Star or Bieber or whoever. Or maybe even spend the dollar it costs to buy a song these days.
I am not afraid of being dragged. I see ONTD always dragging OMONA and its mods on posts on ONTD and I wonder.... what is their agenda? Who pissed them off? I also see how many people on ONTD hate the K-pop posts.
But real talk.
If you do not like BTS being #1, go do your thing for your fave. The Billboard Charts are not rigged in favor of anyone, all the artists are playing the SAME GAME. And like it or not, BTS has the most fans
XD I don't mind seeing BTS 1 (hell I was even defending the tactic on ontd, so you clearly got the wrong user here)
But I'm still gonna say it's lazy to release 10 version of the same song.Release 10 songs instead (they can even call it *gasp* an album *gasp*) BTS used to have good song, they used to bring something to the table Now hybe is focused on the top 10 and getting every spot, they're not even producing good music It's lazy and ridiculous
I agree, I don't mind remixes, I really liked when JYPE groups used to include remixes on their albums.
But these remixes specifically aren't very good. Which is sad because there is a lot they could do with a song like Butter, it was made to be remixed! But not like this...
im new here and honestly i made this acct because i was under the impression that ontd had become more positive towards kpop posts. i went there today and it was a mess lmao
there's much to be said about the messiness around kpop and its artists but like all fandom talk most don't even care about the issues.
i just started to like kpop and am under no impression they are all princes and princesses, with no faults. like they're part of an industry in a pretty conservative and homogenous country.
also for all the talk in the last posts about bts's ontd stans, i find them overall pretty sane (from what i lurked)?
I made this account today just so I could make a comment on this somewhere. I have been lurking on ONTD since 2015, I know that website is full of hypocrites but the amount of people hating on BTS and pretending to do it under the pretense of ~calling out their problemic behaviour~ for the last days bothered me so much. I have never seen BTS fans on ONTD being crazy, but people there are actually acting like those fans are like stans on Twitter. They are %100 lying, the only reason BTS got so much attention on there nowadays is people saw a lot of others having fun with sharing BTS content and got mad at their joy like they always do lmaooooooo.
There is nothing wrong with not liking a kpop group, or their songs, or their fanbase. There is however something very wrong with hating on an East Asian group under the false pretense of ~calling out problemetic behaviour~ while it's very obvious that for some users there it is just a fucking stan war (esp. that user with the Taemin icon, I even sent them a message asking what they thought about Taemin's friendship with Jimin, if they ACTUALLY believe Jimin is racist, why are they supporting a friend of his, I wonder) and enabling racist and xenophobic comments.
Anyway, I have only recently gotten into kpop because of BTS (but I follow many other groups too now), I only lurk and read comments on ONTD, here and Reddit but these last days made me so mad with those users pretending to care about racism but having no problems whatsoever with the racist comments BTS gets that I had to write this thesis.
Also, I don't think BTS should get a pass for their past, but I am not from the USA, and I know that if I wasn't online this much and didn't know English well I could have made some of their mistakes too. Americans on the internet never seem to understand that people outside of the US don't know about racial relations in the US well unless they spend much time online in places like Tumblr or Reddit which are full of Americans. That Jim Jones sample for example. I knew about Jim Jones because I have probably heard the phrase ''don't drink the kool-aid'' in an American tv show and looked up its meaning. I had NO idea that there was a racial angle to the subject and I only learnt it because of Suga's controversy. This doesn't excuse Suga hiding behind his label, but it explains things in my eyes and not only this, but also a lot of shitty mistakes other idols (who are not BTS) make.
Again, I am sorry that I wrote such a long comment like this that nobody asked for but I really, really wanted to say something about it lol. BTS should get called out for their past, esp. the things they didn't apologise for, but not in the ''gotcha'' stan-like way and certainly not with people sharing a video of Taehyung speaking in Korean with no audio and pretending that they actually fucking understand what he is saying in the video and condemning him for it.
I hate racism towards BTS and racism towards other poc — as in I’m anti racist. I will hold artists accountable.
I’ve defended BTS against racists and also fandoms of other groups that were just being nasty and cruel.
And randomly all these armys thanked me for it once but then felt outrageously betrayed that I’m friends with a journalist that wrote an article about BTS problematic fandom.
I’m never going to forget the jim jones situation but I wish it were a misunderstanding because it’s so hurtful. I have family that was lured to Guyana and died there because of jim jones!
I hold my tongue so my best friend can enjoy her group and her bias.
I say all this to say there are still people taking this seriously I assure you …but harassing people in their personal dm’s will not work. It only makes you look callous. There are people who have a grudge against army and also really do hate BTS.
I think it’s very easy to say “such and such is not racist” when you’re not in the racial group effected. You wanna know what sucks? I went up to Wendy from a group called Red Velvet and confronted her to her damn face about her racism and the security guard warned me. I was a HUGE red velvet fan but I had to know. She pretended not to hear.
Years ago I confronted an artist named Brian Joo about imitating black people in a mocking way and he made a public apology on twitter.
Recently I caught so much flak from my own advocacy group for helping stopasianhate members organize their march.
I have that same energy for BTS even if their fans doxxed me, tried to get me fired and sent me pictures of dead black bodies to upset me. I’m on your side. I’m not a fan of BTS but I can see your point. I always defend them to my ignorant coworkers. I even stop them from dissing fandom because all fandoms have bad apples.
I seriously didn't want to harass anybody, I cannot comment on ONTD that's why I sent them a message. But thinking about it now, you are right I shouldn't have done it. It really wasn't my intention to harass anybody but I guess that doesn't excuse my action.
I will be %100 honest I still don't know a lot of things about BTS and other kpop groups because there is just so much content but when I wrote that comment I was really angry at seeing such disdain for a foreign group just because their fans played the rules of the system and BTS got a #1 on the charts instead of an American artist, still I shouldn't have written that comment either maybe. I guess I was especially mad because I started to get into other kpop groups because of BTS and as a new fan I was really enjoying it.
I only follow big update accounts for kpop groups on Twitter, so I usually don't see bad sides of the fandoms but I agree people shouldn't be harassed or harmed because of their opinions...
I am very sorry about your family and your bad experiences, the things you mentioned are unacceptable. From what I have seen so far there's many things a lot of other kpop artists have to be called out for, especially matters involving Black people... I have read on other sites too that a lot of Black people had bad experiences with Armys and recently I saw an issue with Enhypen fans on Weverse (just an example), I really wish things weren't like this. I try to read r/kpopnoir nowadays to understand things a little better.
this remix strategy is not as obnoxious as the one with dynamite at least. they are playing the game and it's obvious that they must have some deal with columbia for these english releases. l mean did life goes on even get an instrumental version?
if they get a # 1 next week again they will just keep worsening ppl's blood pressure.
cooler is the most listenable i guess but i don't like any of the remixes. jk is so cute in the cooler one i love his hair that bright. i wouldn't know what to do after like 5 seconds of being told to freestyle for 3 minutes of footage so i think they did a good job looking engaged lmao.
