Signal has to be their IGAB, a rather unusual sounding song that has opinions VERY divided. Didn't like it at first because the mixing sounded really weird, but it's surely grown on me. I think it's lovely now, the chorus is so upbeat! Classic Twice.

Some of the performances here were kind of lackluster but a LOT had to do with poor sound mixing, like what was that? Signal, Boss, etc were definitely the victim of that.

Yeah, I loved it! They did perform Save Me at the Tiny Desk concert but it was of course without the choreography. Maybe one day we'll see it in its full glory again.
bts performing i need u!!! truly still one of my fave titles by them. that flashback to them winning made me emo all over again, i remember it so well lol. their outfits were such a good ode to those performances too <3 i am really done with dynamite though (korea is not), but still appreciate the styling. the set for life goes on was gorgeous (can i live there?) and i always appreciate a white stage outfit. jin's shoulders looked soooooo broad bless!!! jk's hair looks good too!

What the hell happened with the microphones during Signal? Gfriend ATE!!!!! I love these costumes and the entire witch aesthetic for them. The More & More remix was a welcome change since Twice is down two members. And the JYP/Sunmi stage was adorable. Would've love to see him tackle some of her songs tbh.

So, I have some questions I should've asked almost 8 years ago when I got into kpop lol.
Do the music companies design, make and pay for the stages of their artists or is all that done by kbs, etc.? or a mix of both? Also, does the music co. pay to get their artists to perform or are they the ones getting paid? IK that for regular music shows the music co. pays, but I only know that rookie groups/groups from small companies do it, so I'm wondering whether that changes when a group gets quite popular and so they're now being paid for performing on music shows?
Agencies pay for staging, back up dancers, live bands, and special effects.
MAMA/Melon/Gayos don't pay the artists to perform on their shows afaik, but they do end up getting a small royalty from the song being performed on TV. The idols get paid by their agencies for their work based on their contracts. Same with weekly music shows.
I don't know if they all have inhouse production departments or if they outsource like they do Music Videos but it could easily be 20-30K for something like that, likely more, depending on labour costs on the build and how much the animations cost.
Agencies look at every award/end of the year thing they have to prepare for and budget different amounts depending on where they really want to impress. For example BTS's stage here vs their melon/mama stages, they spent way less here.
Ooh you're right, I totally forgot that agencies don't always make their artists MV's, then I'm more inclined to think most of them outsource the end of the year ones cause like, that'd be a lot of work in a short-ish amount of time.

Also, it quite lacked some punch, they didn't go all out... it doesn't help that female idols are way more limated at how they express themselves on stage (and well, every woman everwhere), god forbid their expressions aren't pretty...
Anyway, I hope nobody get's infected and that all the oncoming shows are cancelled.
Today was a very emotional day for me so seeing 'I need U' performed again after so many years actually made me tear up a little. They've come so far (and this song remains so great!)

watched the videos when they were released on YouTube and I have quite a bit to say. camera work is terrible as usual. for the many groups that I watched, they obviously prepared dance heavy performances so it would be nice to have audiences be able to see it rather than close ups or bird's eye view of nothing in particular
Signal was a nice surprise, and I liked the part where they tried to put in fans singing in with Momo and Mina's ending line. the Jihyo chorus was weird though. ICSM, I get them trying to make it interesting with Jihyo solo, but I'm not getting the emotion nor appreciating it when they try to make it powerhouse vocals-esque but it's obviously lip-synced.
itzy looked tired, or rather the synchronisation wasn't there as they normally do.
SinB's intro was amazing, I loved the witch vibes and the mass dance was cool. would love for gfriend to do a g-idle type of song.
Sunmi also looked tired sadly, this is not one of her better performances. also before KBS put the English titles, I got a heart attack when I saw Park Jinyoung in Korean, because I thought Got7's Park Jinyoung was gonna perform with Sunmi. but alas, what a disappointment when I saw JYP's face.
love that Got7 performs random b-sides when they can, I guess this is Jackson's night considering Out is kinda his song and then he got that collab with Jessi.
maknaes on top performance, I can't believe we have Yuna as the best vocal in the team. what a time to be in. would be nice if they got another maknae who has more stable vocals, but the only "young" maknae whose group performed I can think of would be Nancy? Arin was selling the concept well, and I think Wonyoung did well too. For someone who presents as confident and fun offstage, Shuhua's onstage presence is a downer. she looked like she was struggling with this performance. I think it didn't help that the camera angles exposed how rushed this performance was though.
chae sisters performance I was hyped up when I saw it. would have wanted a longer performance together, that was too short. roller coaster is not a good choice though.
it was my first time listening to Boss and I couldn't finish that song even though I wanted to watch it for the girls. love this dance special part 2 after that Momo/SinB/Chungha/Seulgi/Yoojung collab. this is what gayos should be focusing on, cross-group performances! liked that they focused on the dance portion of Hard Carry

Itzy I love even though you could tell majority of them and other idols were tired. Year end shows always feel unnecessary with how many there are and now with a pandemic they feel extra unwanted.
Never thought we'd get a performance of Signal and I Need U in 2020...But here we are! Definitely a refreshing change. I've always found Signal cute, even if the song itself is all over the place lol I Nee U will always get me in the feels because it was the start of them finally gaining some traction after getting their first win. Am I seeing things or did Taemin use the Iron Throne from GOT as a prop for his Criminal performance? Kind of loved how the stage looked like it was taking place in the seven circles of hell with the fire and all that jazz.
call me crazy but i really liked the xmas remix of more & more, lol. the fans at the end of signal were so distracting, especially the one dude's voice that was so prominent. 😬 the slow opening to ICSM was unnecessary imo.

- Loved Twice’s stages but I’m biased haha. I feel bad that Signal had issues with the mics and production. Them dancing during the Christmas sing along segment was everything <3
- Chaeyeon and Chaeryeong performing together ahhhhh so cute!! I love that the twins got to perform together, especially since both are great dancers.
- Itzy looked so tired in their performance, probably since they’re preparing for their comeback and collabs :( I know they weren’t at Mama but part of me feels like they should’ve skipped this too but with the collabs I know they wouldn’t.
- the maknae line video was cute, love the homage to Apink (I wish Apink was participating in these shows, but since they have a concert soon and tbh the disrespect from last year I don’t blame them for skipping). Yuna’s vocals do highlight she’s a JYP artist, she’s pretty nasally which is a trademark for the company haha...but she has so much stage presence already for a 17 year old. I keep saying she’s going to be a star when she’s older!
Speaking of the opposite is Shuhua. I don’t follow gidle closely anymore but she always had the least stage presence and here too she’s just lacking especially with Yuna there. She has a bold personality off stage, idk if it’s stage fright or what but she just doesn’t stand out on stage.
- I didn’t finish the Boss video. The song sucks and I wasn’t particularly interested in anything going on
- Gfriend’s intro was cool but bummed they didn’t perform Mago. Mago is so much superior to me and now highlights that Apple is a middle of the road release for me. I still like it plenty, but it’s weaker compared to other Gfriend songs. Partly because I find the choreo a little bland for Gfriend’s standards. It works for the song but once again they’ve done better.

it was my first time listening to Boss and I couldn't finish that song even though I wanted to watch it for the girls. love this dance special part 2 after that Momo/SinB/Chungha/Seulgi/Yoojung collab. this is what gayos should be focusing on, cross-group performances! liked that they focused on the dance portion of Hard Carry

aespa's performance was just there. i think i paid more attention to the back-up dancers. can they please let them all wear pants when they perform this?
loved itzy's white outfits. they're absolutely exhausted, though; ryujin usually kills it but she looked almost lifeless. i know they're supposedly gonna have a comeback soon enough, but... :/ @ jyp pls let them rest!!!

- Chaeyeon and Chaeryeong performing together ahhhhh so cute!! I love that the twins got to perform together, especially since both are great dancers.
- Itzy looked so tired in their performance, probably since they’re preparing for their comeback and collabs :( I know they weren’t at Mama but part of me feels like they should’ve skipped this too but with the collabs I know they wouldn’t.
- the maknae line video was cute, love the homage to Apink (I wish Apink was participating in these shows, but since they have a concert soon and tbh the disrespect from last year I don’t blame them for skipping). Yuna’s vocals do highlight she’s a JYP artist, she’s pretty nasally which is a trademark for the company haha...but she has so much stage presence already for a 17 year old. I keep saying she’s going to be a star when she’s older!
Speaking of the opposite is Shuhua. I don’t follow gidle closely anymore but she always had the least stage presence and here too she’s just lacking especially with Yuna there. She has a bold personality off stage, idk if it’s stage fright or what but she just doesn’t stand out on stage.
- I didn’t finish the Boss video. The song sucks and I wasn’t particularly interested in anything going on
- Gfriend’s intro was cool but bummed they didn’t perform Mago. Mago is so much superior to me and now highlights that Apple is a middle of the road release for me. I still like it plenty, but it’s weaker compared to other Gfriend songs. Partly because I find the choreo a little bland for Gfriend’s standards. It works for the song but once again they’ve done better.

OK so cut Resonance doesn't have the same strength of full Resonance. I like the Class + Misfit performance, though.
