Mnet has confirmed with Yonhap that THE BOYZ, ATEEZ, and STRAY KIDS will be participating in "Kingdom"

The three groups recently had a special stage yesterday at the 2020 MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards)

While Ateez should have been on Road to Kingdom, the album sales they are pulling are too big to be ignored. None of these groups have had a hit like Pentagon had with Shine, but their selling power, and fandoms, are way bigger than Pentagon's. It's a shame that Pentagon never really took off :(

Road to kingdom seems to have somewhat helped them, even if they didn't blow up like other contestants. I saw they sold over 100k of their latest album, which is a milestone I believe they never reached! I hope good things keep going to them.

Yea I honestly know them as the group with the member (? Or was it two of them?) that said the misogynistic shit that most men probably all think out loud. I have no interest in them since they’re still members.

I do know for a lot of women (especially straight fans tbh) can move on from that but as I’m getting older that makes me very uncomfortable

it was two of them, i think both eric and sunwoo had some really awful misogynistic stuff in their predebut. granted they were like 14? but especially in sunwoo's case the comments were really next level. there seems to be a bit of a weird culture within the group (i know another member said something like they want their ideal girlfriend to have less achievements than himself) + the blackface tiktoks... i definitely feel you, my tolerance level is on the floor so this group made me uncomfortable really fast

But with COVID cancelling touring it would be a good idea to keep groups in good shape and get some more interesting performances out there. But with numbers going up they should either cancel it or never have any of the groups all in the same room.

COVID logistics will be a nightmare, I wouldn't want to be a worker on this show. They will handle the performances like music shows already dp but the interractive parts? Idk how they'll handle that

they should just cancel the interactive portions, keep everyone basically to themselves until they need to be on stage and set a good example.

I'd be interested in seeing them change up the concept a bit to compensate, like have two groups take on the same song separately vs collab stages.

I'm not really into boy groups so I'm not the target of the show lol I'll only catch up with the performances I guess.
But I think Ateez and Stray Kids make sense for the line-up and will be interesting to watch, the first for their theatrical concepts and the second for the self-producing label they have.
I'm really curious about which 2nd gen group/soloist could join, Queendom had big names after all. It won't be GOT7 with JYP already sending Stray Kids, SM/YG are probably not interested and Nu'est must have had enough with mnet shows lol. Monsta X? Seventeen? Someone from BtoB as "the" soloist since they're still half in the army? Who else is still promoting? Block B, Highlight? VIXX/Inifinite seem out of the question for me, army enlistements + Ravi/Sunggyu going very different roads that this. From the younger groups, Astro maybe? They have a well-known member

I thought Rain might do it for a laugh for a bit lol but Kang Daniel will prob be their big soloist, or one of the other wanna one solos. Monsta X I could see doing it too. They could send TxT too.

Idk about NCT, SM doesn't strike me as sending their current flagship group on an mnet show. Do they still have beef? but yes a random NCT U line up would be great!

Mnet and NCT are fine, Mnet was the broadcaster for the NCT2020 show so they're relatively fine.

Guessing is way more fun than the actual line up will be lol there's a bunch of newer groups who have all had wins/bigger numbers who could do it but I don't remember most of their names CIX? there's more I'm sure.

I think if they could get them all this list is pretty solid as far as interesting performances but also peak fandom drama.

SVT are like the 3rd most popular boy group in SK right now, no way they're gonna be on it.

SKZ makes sense because whilst they're super popular with overseas fans, they've still yet to have their huge break in SK, general public wise.

Queendom had Mamamoo, with Hwasa being one of the most popular female idol right now, which is why I think Seventeen would be a crazy yes, but not entirely impossible pick :)
Especially with none of the current picks having the pull of a strong domestic popularity, and especially with Pledis having been in most Mnet shows
Though with the Big Hit merger, it makes more sense on a broader company level to send TxT

Yes it's a very good choice for SKZ to go there! Pretty much the same appeal for Ateez, no? Both have crazy album sales internationally but their domestic sales/streams lag behind (comparatively). They could get big breaks

i'm not sure nct would benefit much from this show, only wayv tbh and that won't happen. i have mixed feelings on an nct u lineup joining this especially if it's members that are already overworked. it would be more interesting to send members that have had less exposure/promo. mx i could see happening to give them a domestic fandom boost or even cravity... mnet do have strong ties to starship. i want cix but seems unlikely :(
