BTS are nominated for the 63rd GRAMMYs Awards which will take place on January 31st. In 2019, they made history as the first K-pop group to present at the Grammy's Awards ("Best R&B Album") and the group was nominated for "Best Recording Package" for their album "Love Yourself: Answer". This year, they were the first Korean act to perform with Lil Nas X.

• "Intentions" by Justin Bieber featuring Quavo

I wasn't even holding my breath for those nominations because I could list at least 4 songs that would have been better nominations and they actually did end up getting nominated...Except for Blinding Lights - that was the real snub here. Nominating BTS for best group was a consolation prize cuz we knew they weren't getting any other nomination. I hope Yoongi is celebrating regardless lol

Like damn I know some ppl hate BTS but the downplaying of this achievement alongside downplaying the grammys as a whole so aggressively... like would some of these ppl rather another white duo got nominated? Why are they getting harsher attacks?

I'm hardcore projecting but reminds me of those times when PoC (myself or anyone else I've encountered) get criticized by other PoC for entering "white spaces" (e.g. the traditionally right wing uni I'm at). This is such a bittersweet moment, it's great that they got nominated for one category instead of none. However, the nomination is not for any of their Korean works that they actually had a hand creating in but for an English song that they just happened to release at the right time. We all know that the reason why Dynamite blew up as much as it did was mainly because it was in English (but also because it's a cute catchy bop). It's a hard pill to swallow that even though they broke so many records, those achievements are still ignored due to their race and their nationality.

I've already seen ARMY using "no grammy nomination, no opinion" as their new clapback at haters and I'm just sighing at how much more obnoxious they're going to be on social media - especially if BTS manages to win.

I am so happy that they got nominated, and I really wish that they would win. Looking at the list though just having Lady Gaga/Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift up against them. As for people saying ARMYS are being insufferable, well, what do you expect them to be like lol? I for one don't blame them considering how much of shit they got for from Kpop twitter for helping BTS win that paper award. 2017-2018 was a hellscape and I'm not blaming them for acting this way at all.

I'm so happy and I hope the fans bask in this because it's fucking deserved.
